The songs aren't in this order on the playlist - they're just listed in alphabetical order by genre....  I appreciate a very wide range of music, but for right now, this is what strikes me, more or less...  A combination of reminiscing on old memories, not going _too_ far out of the way to build up a good-sized playlist, and having a good time while I work on various things...

Lately, I've been playing Portal 2, but as of last night, I've been playing XIII.  Oh, and also the new Rise of the Triad, off and on.

I'm not playing it YET, but I will be soon: Rise of the Triad (2013)!  Man I can't believe this game got remade - one of my old favorites from childhood.  Awesome.  I'm downloading my purchase from GOG a bit later today.  But right now, as for what I'm currently playing - I'm hip-deep in Portal and Portal 2.

Temporary hobby: After moving out on my own, and gaining access to my old VHS tapes, I discovered that a portion of them - roughly a third - were in a box that had somehow gotten wet, creating a mold source, and many of the tapes in that box were affected, some more, some less.  Not being one to want to damage my VHS/DVD combo player with mold, and also affect the rest of my library, I have taken it upon myself to clean all 39 affected tapes, with warm soapy water, and then again with just warm water, carefully.  I got some tips online, and am doing it with a test tape.  ....It's going to take a long time, but I have plenty of patience for this kind of thing.  Then maybe I can transfer my collection to DVD, like I've been wanting to for years...

Assuming it actually gets released, my machine can actually play it, and it isn't overloaded with DRM up the wazoo...  Maybe I'll actually give Doom 4 a try.

Anything from my current list of GOG games (yay)....when my Linux install finishes trying to recover a pesky CD that's slowing everything down (boo)...

Duke Nukem 1+2
Ultimate Body Blows
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
Pid
Snapshot
Capsized
Blood II: The Chosen
Shadow Warrior Complete
Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse

Or, maybe I could actually play some of the GOG games I haven't gotten around to yet, such as:

Miasmata
Torchlight
*cannot play either of the Alan Wake games; they do not work with my graphics chip (BOO! And I got them cheap.... xD)*
Crusaders of Might and Magic
Tomb Raider 1+2+3
Myst Masterpiece Edition
Incoming + Incoming Forces
One Unit Whole Blood
Spellforce Platinum Edition
Neighbours From Hell Compilation
Dark Fall: The Journal
Dark Fall 2: Lights Out
Litil Divil
Superfrog
Rayman Forever
Rayman 2: The Great Escape

Treasure Adventure Game
Teenagent
Tyrian 2000

Dragonsphere
Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar
Worlds of Ultima: The Savage Empire
Ultima Worlds of Adventure 2: Martian Dreams

...Yeah....can you see a trend, here? xP ....I'm too social and wrapped up in other things... xD

EDIT: How did I forget about this one?  I've also been playing Benjmin "Yahtzee" Croshaw's latest game, Poacher.  Everytime Yahtzee releases another game, I remember one of the reasons why I like games. xD

History Section / 100th Anniversary of Titanic
« on: May 08, 2012, 07:11:59 PM »
...Interesting that I should find this topic here, because, on April 15th, at 2:20 AM, I held a one minute vigil, at the time the ship was said to make the final plunge beneath the waves.  I, too, thought of little but Titanic for some years, in my younger days, and have heard much info regarding it.  ...Yes, I may be on Pacific Standard Time, but still, it was 2:20 AM, and I held that minute of silent vigil to remember the dead.  Thanks for making the topic.

Edit: I suppose I should re-read A Night to Remember, as I have the book.  ...I still remember when studying the ship was a new thing for me, and when I first borrowed the book from my middle-school library, over winter break.  I had to stay up because one of my cousins snored most of the night, but I believe there was a night light on (this was at my other aunt's house), so I read a good portion of it that night.  ...It was easier to focus on the details, back then.  Was roughly about 1998.  ...It feels like an eternity ago...

No, I do remember you.  I just haven't posted for a long time around here, partially due to some personal things I've had to work out, and partially due to life.  But I definitely remember most of the people in this topic.  ...Including some old friends.

Edit: Just to clarify, from what I remember, I joined sometime in early 2008 but, if I am remembering correctly, I didn't actually start posting until some time after. *checked* Yeah, it was about a month after I joined, give or take.  Then I posted pretty regularly for a while, and....took a few hiatuses, and, well, here we go.  I must admit, I do miss a few people around here...

Hey, thanks guys.  ...I'm still alive, and doing better than I ever could have.  Nice to see some familiar faces are still around here.  The past year's been a hard one, what with losing my mom and all, but I know I'll see her again.  In fact, I'm particularly close to family these days, so the gaps are being bridged, and I'm now trying to concentrate more on my health, not just of body, but of mind and spirit.

Thank you for thinking of me.  It's been a wild ride...  But I thank my heavenly father for the entire learning experience.

Bless you.

-Aaron

The Fridge / What different purchases have you made recently?
« on: December 09, 2011, 02:43:30 PM »
Several NES games, over the course of the past 3 or 4 months, as well as various parts for it.  Glad I can fix the NES now, so mine's working fine.  Oh, and a couple different editions of the Apocrypha, , and a better-made 1611 KJV, for my studies, as well as a few other books - but that's another story.

EDIT: Forgot to post this, but I also bought some spicy stuff, several months back.  A small jar of Red Savina Habanero powder (which turned out to be great on popcorn), two jars of regular Habaneros (man they've got a kick), and a bag of dried Ghost peppers, which are among the spiciest in the world.  Yeah, I like spicy stuff.... :p

Precisely.  Having recently gone through the loss of my own mother nearly a year ago, I went through the phases of "Why did she have to die" and all this as well, even though I didn't go quite as far in my emotions as Littlefoot did.  I've since made peace with it, but I can totally understand what he was going through.

Hey, thanks for the recommendation, Adam. ;) I don't drink coffee constantly anymore, as it raises my anxiety level too high, but a few times a week at most, or so, yeah. :p I'll bookmark the site, and check it out one of these days. :p

1988 Theatrical Release / VHS vs DVD vs HD The Land Before Time
« on: December 09, 2011, 12:38:44 PM »
It may have something to do with modifying the aspect ratio from fullscreen to widescreen, or vice versa.  On a side note: LBT was released in high-def?  Hmm - guess I'll have to look into it. ;)

General Land Before Time / This youtube video I found is a disgrace
« on: September 30, 2010, 11:42:31 PM »
If I may jump on this topic...

I happen to agree with Animeboye on this one.  I do believe what we've got here is a classic case of misinterpretation.  Emotionless text is the poorest form of communication, due to the fact that emotions cannot be wholly discerned within a mere paragraph or two.  It takes vocal communication at least, or even better, a real-life encounter, to determine the true emotions and "attitudes" of others.  Which causes me to raise the question: Campion1, what words exactly do you suppose that DarkHououmon used to be "hostile" towards you?  Just because she used a few isolated words here and there to describe what is, in her mind, the equivalent of a fair judgment?  If that's true hostility, then I dread to read any more.  However, I must disagree with your assessment of her character from a mere few posts.  At the very least, a few exclamation points here and there could have shown some hostility, but a few opinionated words here and there does not necessarily constitute a hostile attitude.  Any idea of hostility that could conceivably be formed, without plausible evidence (exclamation points, threatening words, etc.) must surely be the result of the person reading the post, not the person writing it.  It is sadly common for people these days to hear a "voice" in their head, to attempt to determine what emotions are being displayed by a poster, but is that really, truly, the "voice" of the other person?  More often than not, it is not the case at all.  Therefore, it is the concoction of the reader.  Without getting to know the person in real life, or at least, without being able to hear the other person speak these same words, emotion cannot be fully established, and therefore a full assessment of a person's character or attitude, based upon said text alone, is a sad failure indeed.
