I've been deep into this web site called Junior General.org, which is a place for people to create, print, and make paper figures of military stuff ranging from prehistory, to modern era, to even a little sci-fi.  With them, you can set up your own games, or use them for school or other hobbies.

Anyway, I finally decided to work on a few custom soldiers for my fictional nation that I've been babbling about in Hobbies.  I didn't actually make my first drafts from scratch, but used a couple of designs from other artists, the "Masters", and created a few infantry of different styles and colors.  In time, I'll make more infantry with custom weapons of my own ideas, and ONE DAY, I'll get to the bigger stuff.  You know, tanks, planes, ships, etc.

Now I gone and did something I never thought I would do.  I made some versions of soldiers as furries!  So far, I only did wolves, but I'm sure I can get some other canines down quickly.

I'm also working on camouflage colors for both uniforms & weapons.

I think I was getting ahead of myself in my new-found powers, so I'm pacing myself.

I'm currently focusing on various poses, camo colors, and an armory, mainly small arms.

It'll be a while before I even get close to vehicles...

Besides half of my art work will be going to Junior General, I'm trying to figure out whether or not to open up an account in either Fur Affinity or deviantART for some of my furry soldiers and portions from my furry fictions (full stories will go to fanfiction.net, once they're better completed).

I know most of you artists have accounts in deviantART, but is there anyone here who has or had one in Fur Affinity?  And which one is better in your opinions?

I did recently get an account on Fur Affinity but I haven't uploaded anything. I couldn't tell you which one is better, to be honest. The only thing I know is that Fur Affinity is more lenient about what you can post, allowing for much more adult content than what Deviantart would allow.

I don't have much of anything adult-rated, and if I did have such, I won't make any of it public.

It's just the issue on which place is best to post some of my work.  I know some artists have their work on both sites.

Back in my paper soldiers artwork, I'm focusing on the basic templates of various stances of my soldiers, and I'm fine-tuning the furries' heads for different species and proper headgear.  So far, the furries I'm working on are canines, but felines and other species will come later.  The worst time for me to come will be when I have to make troodon-like soldiers and ALL of their weapons, gear, uniforms, vehicles, and aircraft (yes, they'll fly planes too).

Now to answer the question of "what you talking 'bout, Kenji?"  I'm doing all my paper soldiers artwork around a group of fictional nations that I made up.  The country I'm doing now is the Kingdom of Estelbach, a nation primarily of humans, but the past few hundred years have seen an increase of furry immigrants and citizens, even starting to fill the ranks of the Royal Armed Forces, but the majority in the Royal Foreign Legion, but not limited to other branches.  Soon, my world will expand with the Narxcus Empire, an authoritarian regime of humans who treat furries opposite of Estelbach (almost like Nazi Germany), then Viriam Axtilae, a loose coalition of dino tribes (similar to Afghanistan), Rokugon, a Japanese-style nation of the extinct Hokkaido and Honshu wolves, and San Cloe, another human-run country.

If that's a lot of work, this is just the modern-era work.  Wait until I work on them and others in the 1940's and 2100!

I really hate FurAffinity.  Aside from what Darkhouomon mentioned about the excessive adult content, the website itself is based on a very primitive script.  I feel like I'm on a cookie-cutter website every time I go there, and it's not a good feeling.  Some websites are meant to be cookie-cutter like.  Blogs, forums, and some news sites for example.  But a popular website like FurAffinity should have something better.  It's just my personal opinion, but because of the website itself I only visit there very rarely.

If you want my advice on where to go to post furry works, I'd go to SoFurry.com.  Like FurAffinity it does have a lot of adult content, but just make sure you keep the filter on and you'll be fine.  I only see a mistakenly tagged adult image like 1 out of every 300 times I go to SoFurry, which is better than any other site I've seen.  Just be aware that SoFurry.com used to be Yiffstar.com, which was pretty much a website dedicated exclusively to porn.  Because of that, there are still a lot of people on SoFurry that forget that some people don't go there to look at porn.  It can get a bit annoying at times, but honestly I think it's the best place to post furry related art.

I don't mind FurAffinity. I'm no longer as bothered by adult art as I was when I was younger, so I'm not fazed looking through and seeing all the adult material they have on the site. I also like the layout and overall how it looks. Also, FurAffinity also has a content filter if you don't want to see the adult art.

I don't think I'll switch to it from Deviantart, though.

I checked SoFurry.com, which isn't bad, but not the best either in my opinion.  DeviantART is best for art in general, but Fur Affinity allows for some non-furry works.  Short stories could work in either one.

Thinking about it, I'll start off with deviantART first.  And if I have no problem with time, I can do one in Fur Affinity.

But FIRST, I need to finish something in my work...

^Yeah, SoFurry has recently totally redesigned their site.  And I'm not going to lie, it sucks now.  But at least I don't feel like I'm on a cookie-cutter website.  And where SoFurry shines isn't in it's UI but rather the content and users that are on there.  The site also has a lot of unique features.  It's designed like a hybrid social media website, forum, art database, and library.  Kinda weird but it's really cool once you get used to it.

I prefer when they were Yiffstar, I don't like the Sofurry website.

^I agree.  I liked the overall design and usability of Yiffstar a lot more.  But there were some things about the site I just couldn't tolerate.  First of all, all the database errors.  You'd click something, wait about twenty freaking years for the thing to load, then be greeted by some obscure PHP or MySQL error.  Second, the slowness.  Oh Lord, the slowness.  It really ate at your soul, looking at that loading indicator for at LEAST a full minute every time you clicked on something.  But the worst thing about the site was the mature content filter.  It just didn't work right.  Half the time I'd log on there and was greeted by some nasty image staring me in the face.  I still tolerated Yiffstar, but thought the change to SoFurry was a LOT better, even though the UI was terrible.  Their new design though is the absolute worst.  Too bad they're the best furry site around when it comes to stories.

Anyway, I just started my account on deviantART.  So for those of you already there, I'll see you there too!
