Spyro raced over the top of the hill that ran past Moneybags shop. it was an ordinary day in dragon world. Spyro was a purple dragon, who had been on many adventures, and had saved the world from Gnasty Gnorc and Red the evil dragon. all that was in the past, and Spyro was looking forward to a relaxing day- free of any worries or cares.

Cynder flew through the air, the wind in her face, crisp, and refreshing. ' another peaceful day in Dragonlands' she said to herself.. ' i wonder what that old cheapskate Moneybags is up to.,.' Cynder turned and noticed Moneybags shop in the distance.

Spyro ground to a halt in front of Moneybags's shop now, and strutted inside. "Hey! Moneybags! You in here?" he called.

coming coming ' money bags said as the oddly dressed bear poked his head out from behind a curtain ' He then noticed Spyro. ' well, well, if it isnt one of my dragon friends. what can i do for you today, and, more importantly, do you have enough gems to afford it?
_ cynder by this point, was closing in on the shop. she had bought things from Moneybags in the past, unfprtunately, he usually overcharged for items. a magic powder that could increase your flight time, for inmstance, that normally went for 100 gems, cost 200 from him.

ember, meanwhile was playing with her boyfriend Bandit in the meadow, or more accurately, playing tag with him. Ember was a bubbly sort, and also a shameless flirt. she had hit on Spyro for a long time, before finding Bandit, and now her interests were with the Armadillo. ' not so fast Ember ' Bandit said in a tired voice. Remember I have short legs."

"Yeah right!" Spyro said, waving his hand dismissively. "I never shop here! I can get better deals elsewhere. I'm just looking around... in case you have something others don't." he informed the bear, moving his head from left to right as he walked down the shop's aisles.

Cynder entered the store and the bell rang,indicating a customer. ' Money bags appeared arund an Aisle corner " ah! Cynder. my dear! What brings you to my humble shop? ' I'm just browsing " cynder replied. " Just like spyro then. Very well i'll leave you to your browsing.' Moneybags grumbled.

Spyro perked up upon hearing the voice. "Oh, hey Cynder!" he said, moving around the corner to greet her now.

Cynders face brightened as she saw her friend. ' Hey Spyro. What brings you to Moneybags? trying to buy a new magic breath?' she turned and glared at moneybags this guy sold me some wing repair elixir for 250 gems, when i could have made it myself for 50!' eh, what i gave you for that princ-er cessly sum, was top of the line, elixir, not that stuff you can scourge up yourself on the cheap' Moneybags was trying to defend himself..

bandit made his way towards the dragon house where ember and he lived along with other dragons and native creatures.

"Nah, I'm just looking to see if there's some rare chance he actually has something I can't buy elsewhere. It happens occasionally, you know. So what are you doing here?" Spyro asked, walking over toward her now.

Just browsing really, although i'm looking, like you, to see if he has a rare item, that might be useful>" Cynder shrugged. " have you seen Ember lately, Spyro? ' she was friends with both Spyro and Ember, and got along well with most of the residents of the area.

"E-Ember?" Spyro stammered here, blinking. "No... not really." he shook his head. He really didn't... and pretty much never had strong feelings for Ember. Cynder on the other hand... was a different story. "I think she's with Bandit a lot these days. What have you been up to, lately? You free the rest of the day?" he asked casually.

I'm free sure" cynder shrugged. 'As for what i've been up to, nothing much of note, just hanging out.I asked about Ember because I wanted to see her and wondered if you knew where she was. it seems I might be the only dragon around here that actually likes her." cynder shrugged."Shes not THAT bad Spyro, ok so shes a bit of a flirt..and she likes you, something that both she and I have in common, by the way." she smirked at Spyro.

"Yeah well... she's a bit TOO flirty..." Spyro sighed, shaking his head. "Plus, I'm already interested in someone else." he said, smiling at her knowingly. "Speaking of which, you said you were free so... would you want to maybe go out tonight?" Spyro asked hopefully, looking away shyly now.

sure, if you are serious' Cynder said. as the bell to the front door rang again. ' moneybags smiled as he saw the newcomer ' Ah Ember! what brings you to my shop today? moneybags asked with a grin.

"Totally serious..." Spyro said softly and sincerely, looking up into Cynder's eyes now just as the front door opened and he heard Moneybags greet Ember. "Oh... great..." he mumbled, closing his eyes and hanging his head.

cynder smiled at him then turned as Moneybags greeted EMber " well, well, just the girl i was talking about' she said as moneybags came around the corner.

"Well hello there, Spyro!" Ember brightened upon seeing him. "Fancy running into you here!"
"Oh... hey... Ember." Spyro said slowly, looking at her as she fancifully strutted up to him. "I was just asking Cynder out tonight... isn't that right, Cynder?" Spyro asked, looking at her in profile pleadingly.

Yes he was " cynder replied coming to his rescue. Hi Ember. How have you been ?' she smiled at her friend. ' You've been running Bandit ragged I Hear" She teased . as she came up to Ember.

I'll leave you three to your browsing and wait by the counter hee for your purchases' Moneybags said airily.
- outside however, clouds had started to form in the sky, dark ominous clouds which obscured the normal bright colors of this region. at the end of the valley the ground stirred and out from the ground popped a single creature, which locked slightly like a gargoyle . his blazing red eyes stared out at the valley before him, a evil grin played on his face.

"Oh well... not necessarily ragged." Ember chuckled, waving a hand dismissively. "He can for the most part keep up with me."
"Great... looks like a storm's coming." Spyro murmured, noticing the gathering dark clouds in the sky.

Looks like we'd better get back to the Dragon Houses' Cynder said. "Unless you have stuff you want to buy, Ember? I can help you look for stuff while Spyro... goes to get ready for our date" she said giving Spyro a nod., and motioned towards the opening which lead outside.

Outside the sky was pitch black now, and the temperature, which had been warm, was now starting to drop. a chill was now in the air, a chill brought on by powerful dark magic.

"Well OK... but don't be too long." Spyro cautioned.
Ember studied the clouds. "Looks like bad weather... maybe we should all go." Ember suggested.

Fine' Cynder Shrugged ' She had been hoping to have some girl-girl time with Ember, but given the storms coming in, it was likely best if the three of them found shelter. ' well see you later Moneybags" cinder called to the shopkeeper. " Ah, so NONE of you are Buying anything? I really should put up a "must buy ' sign up one of these days.. see you three later" Moneybags said in a grumpy voice...

"Yeah! See ya, Moneybags!" Spyro called, and headed out of the shop now, taking a glance at the menacing clouds that seemed a bit... darker than usual.

cynder headed out the door after spyro and before ember. the sky was now pitch black, and the wind was growing in strength. 'suddenly shouts and screams began filling in the air. ' magnus just got turned to rock! run!. ' monsters are attacking! and the like..

"What the heck is goin' on?" Spyro asked, narrowing his eyes as he stepped forward to get a better look.

somethings going on, at the dragon house! Cynder said taking flight and flying towards the distant house as she passed she saw what looked to be small statues some tipped over the side others turned backwards. ' dread filled her mind ' somethings turning dragons into statues' she suddenly shrieked ' we need to hurry guys...' she said as she flew faster.

"Oh crap! You're right!" Spyro said, taking to the air after her as Ember followed suit.
"Didn't this happen before with Gnasty Gnorc?" Ember called after them.
"Yeah but those were bolts from his scepter! I don't know what's causing this!" Spyro replied.

cynder reached the dragon house and looked around ' silence greeted her, a far cry from the normal hustle and bustl;e and laughter which usually filled this place.' my the ancestors she muttered as she walked around a corner, waiting for spyro and ember to catch up to her. there was a the clich clack sound of toeclaws walking on the floor nearby, and cynder was tense.

Spyro followed after Cynder, and Ember followed Spyro. He too could hear the clacking of claws around the corner. "Uh... who's there!" he said bravely, stepping forward now to draw even with Cynder.

lets gop see if anyone is stil around ' cynder said ' spyro, ember turn on candles in here with your breath. remember i dont have a flame breath.' she said the clicking sound got louder and louder.' she moved back a step towards ember.

Spyro and Ember blew out the flames from their mouths to start lighting up some candles in here. They needed some light, but Spyro was ready for whoever was making the clicking sound too.

the light revealed a horrific sight- EVERYONE in the house had been turned to stone. one of the statues nearby was recognizable to cynder" ember.. Is that.. BANDIT?' she said in a hushed voice pointing to the small statue..' Are we.. the only ones left?' cynder said to Spyro. her voice starting to crack.

"WHAT!? NOOOOO!!!" Ember shrieked, charging forward to inspect the statue now.
"It can't be..." Spyro said softly, gazing off into the distance at the statues. "It just can't... what happened?" he asked, moving to Cynder's side now.

cynder moved over to comfort ember as she looked at the statue of bandit. the clicking noise grew louder. whatever had done this.. was still around, and if they culd turn thier friennds into stone, they wee not safe ether.

Spyro ground his teeth, and looked around. "All right! Whoever you are! Show yourself!" he demanded angrily.

ah.. so there are stiklll a few left' then hissed a voice, the clicking sounds grew klouder and louder and finally a large gargoyle like creature entered the room. ' "well i've honored your demand to show myself' now what' it hissed at Spyro.
- we need to get out of here' cynder said , recoiling at the creature.

"Uhhh.. yeah... right! I'm with you!" Spyro said, beginning to back away now.
"WHAT DID YOU DO TO BANDIT!?" Ember shouted, stepping forward now, anger blazing in her eyes.

the same thing i'm about to do to you, my little dragon friend . This.. is Lurik territory now' the lurik said, his red eyes glowing.
cynder rushed forward and pulled ember back just as a beam shot out of the luriks eyes and hit the spot where Ember had been.."GET THEM! the lurik shoued, and several other luriks soon appeared, there were at least 6 of them..

RUn!' cynder said as the Luriks streamed after them. cynder took flight out of the house, outside it was pitch black and hard to see, it smelled like area around a volcano, acris and hot. cynder looked around desperately for anyone who could help them. ' where can we hide/' she asked looking back at the others.

Spyro followed after Cynder and took to the air, closely followed by Ember as well. "Man it's dark out here!" he said, noting the heavy, acrid content of the air. "I'd say on top of a mountain... above the clouds!" Spyro suggested. "Only way to get above all this!"

It was then, Cynder noticed moneybags Shack. " Moneybags! Its a long shot, but perhaps we could hide in his basement. He does have a basement right?' she said as the Luriks started blasting at them trying to petrify them, as they had the others. several blasts came within inches of striking Cynder. the luriks were closing in... lightning crackled in the air..

"Yeah I guess so! It's not exactly safe, but let's go!" Spyro shouted, landing and charging into the shack now.

Money bags sprang from his seat as the three dragons rushed ' hurry! follow me, he said heading down some stairs in the back and rushing over to a painting on the wall. he lifted it up, revealing a combination lock. moneybags punched in a few numbers and the wall slid back revealing a secret store room. a glowing light flew out of the passage' thank goodness! it was starting to get stuffy in there' said the dragonfly, whose name was sparx. ' hi sparx' cynder said as moneybags pushed her inside ' chat later! he said hurriedly. cynder was pushed into asa dressing room, and moneybags went in after her carrying some clothes ' now.. just,... stand still cynder, this for your own good.. if those things recognize you, you're a rock.. now just pout your lips.. ok.. thats good, this will only take a second, there.. now fold in your wings.. good .. got that on.. and now just walk around for a little bit.. good.. now you may go out.. ember come in here next.. spyro i'll get to you in a second.. "Moneybags said to the other two. cynder came out wearing makeup and a southern style dress. ' how.. exactly.. is this supposed to fool them? i look ridiculous ' she said as she gazed in a mirror.

Hey Sparx!" Spyro greeted the dragonfly as he flew out of the room.
"Um... well all right." Ember said hesitantly, stepping forward now, and not looking forward to this given what had just happened to Cynder.

moneybags guided ember to the back dressing room and began giving her her 'makeover'. cynder looked at the mirror for a bit more ' so spyro? what do you think?' she said trying to put as happy a face on as possible.
so you managed to survive those nasty thing huh' sparx said to Spyro.
the luriks flew over the shack looking for a way in, as moneybags had shut the door .

"Uh... it's certainly a ridiculous looking disguise." Spyro stated, trying not to laugh, but realizing he'd probably be getting the same treatment soon anyway.

moneybags soon came out wth ember who looked much like cynder wearing makeup and a southern style dress. ' next for you spyro. and no i'm not making you wear a dress. follow me ' moneybags said to him.
-sparx smirked as he came up to the two dragonesses ' old moneybags has flipped his lid if he thinks this will work' he laughed ' you;re not helping sparx cynder replied as she looked at ember look at herself in the mirror. ' you dont look that bad ember, at least not compared with me..' she said kindly..
- the luriks began banging on the door.

"I don't look too bad! I look hideous!" Ember shrieked as she looked herself over. "Isn't this style like.. NOT in style anymore?" she demanded of Moneybags, going back over to him now.

"Do i look like a fashion diva, who nitpicks dragons clothing attire?' Moneybags replied. ' those things out there, arent worried about style, they just need not to recognize that you're one of those they are hunting, otherwise, i'll have a nice little rack to hang some goods off of, that is if they dont petrify me as well. i admit this is a bit slapdash, but do you have any better ideas?'
_ you have any bear suits? Cynder asked.' so that we could dress up as bears?
_ you think i have bears suits on hand? if I did I would have gone with that' Moneybags replied. ' no, you'll have to act your way out of this mess.. "

great, we're totally hosed.' Cynder sighed as Sparx smirked. " I'm just glad he didnt try and dress me up" the dragonfly cracked. " you're not helping Sparx." cynder retorted.

Cynder and ember heard the luriks continue to bang on the door ' uh , Moneybags, just what do we do if they burst into here? i dont think trying to pass us off as family or something is going to work' cynder said. We could .. i dont know be mannequins. you know those things you see in shop windows. " Hmm. Good point." Moneybags said ' Girls stand over there, and pose CYnder you turn your head and took over in the corner emvber you look in the other corner. just try to blend in with the surroundings, " moneybags said.
