Post all things Nintendo Switch here.

It comes out tomorrow, so be ready!

I've got mine pre-ordered and while I wait for it to come, I'll be getting a few games for it.  I've already got the new Zelda on my list, but I'm also getting Super Bomberman R and the new Shovel Knight games.

Can't wait! :D

That's great! Can't wait for the Switch to come out as well, even though I haven't pre-ordered it though.

The games library to start off for it is just the best I have ever seen and makes me want to get a Switch!

I need to take my tax return refund and get it. I also can't wait hope it's not a complete waste of money and not a total flop.

I'm not really seeing anything on the Switch that appeals to me yet.

I'll give it some more time but I'm not sold that it's something that makes sense for me.

Its exclusive lineup is fairly weak, considering what I'm personally looking for. It's non-exclusives seem better-suited to playing on other platforms (especially PC). Its portability isn't very useful or interesting to me. Its controllers are quite unappealing (I know I can get pro controllers but getting a bunch of them just doubles the cost of the console that still doesn't have appeal, as I stated above).

Pass.

Really excited for it!

After work tonight, me and a co-worker are gonna wait outside the Best Buy we each pre-ordered it from till it opens at 10am, and pick it up. Then I'll stay up as long as I have the energy and play Zelda! Can't wait! I guess we can both talk about our experience with that game later, Pokeplayer. :)

I'm getting Bomberman R for it tomorrow, too, but that's it for now. I figure Zelda's gonna keep me occupied for a long while. I am planning on getting Snake Pass when it comes out at the end of the month, but that's a smaller Eshop title. Still looks interesting, though. After that, haven't really thought of what I'm getting.

That's what a lot of us are hoping right now. Really hope this thing isn't gonna end up like the Wii U did. It doesn't seem like it's gonna be from all I've heard of it so far, but you can never really know for sure till it happens.

Yeah that's true and the only good game out is Zelda Breathe Of Wind. And maybe the Mario Kart 8 looks good also.

Really, the only must have game for it to start is Zelda. There's lots of smaller indie games, and some other things like bomberman and I Am Setsuna, but they're more niche.

I kinda feel like this is a 'soft-launch'. Just release the thing in the spring, with a few games for the big Nintendo fans who will buy it anyway, and really have the "Big Launch" during the holidays this year, where they start bringing out the big games, and try to sell it to the people who weren't interested day one, or maybe wanted to wait, or only want it for a holiday gift, ect.

Saw this theory in a few different videos. Instead of releasing in the holidays like you'd expect, where the people who wanted it day one regardless, and all the holiday shoppers have to fight over it, they're releasing it in the spring to start, so these two groups aren't competing with each other. Kinda makes sense to me.

Yeh that was a smart move on Nintendos part by releasing now and not during the major holiday season. I've seen videos of the new Zelda game it's not that bad good graphics and all.

Okay, mind as well put some impressions of Zelda up. I've only put in about 10 hours so far.

This Zelda is a lot harder than the recent ones, combat wise. I've died probably a good couple dozen times already, but thankfully the game autosaves every few minutes, so you don't lose much progress at all when you die. Just get right back there quickly, so you maybe try a different way to get through the part you died in.

The enemies do a lot of damage, and like to attack you in groups. The weapons have durability, and most of them will break very quickly, after fighting just one or two enemies, but you're running into more weapons all the time, from taking them from the enemies you fight, to finding them in chests, that I'm not having a problem with running out of weapons.

And I guess that just forces you to use a bunch of different weapons too. I like that they all have their on special attacks and the like, and they control differently. Lots of variety in the combat. :yes

In the first hour or two, you'll get all of the different 'runes' for your shiekah slate, that give you different physics based abilities, like picking up objects, bombs, freezing water to make platforms for yourself, and freezing objects in place.

From what I've seen, you get all of this stuff from very early on in the game, and all of the dungeons and shrines (they're like mini-dungeons) all use these different abilities. So, I think you can do any dungeon or shrine you want after you get the runes. Haven't run into anything where I thought (Bleh, can't figure this out, I probably need some other item form later In the game to do this then.) I think they give you everything at the beginning you need, and it's just a matter of trying to figure out the puzzles with what you already have.

It's more like an rpg in a way, where you're not getting new items like in older Zelda's, but just getting better gear and weapons, and getting things that increase your inventory space, max hearts and stamina, and the like.

Now for a little story, I think I'll need a ton more stuff before taking on the final boss. :p
I tried heading to Hyrule Castle to see the final boss after just playing a few hours. Let's see, I died 6 times just trying to get though Hyrule field in front of the castle. Even when I was paragliding in the air most of the way, the guardians love sniping you out of the air with their eye lazer shots, and when there's 2 or 3 trying to aim at you at once, it's really hard to try and avoid them.

When I finally made it to the castle, I decided to go the underground sewers route under the castle, as there was too many nasty things above ground trying to kill me, then I ran into...something I haven't seen before in the game, and it killed me instantly in the first room of the sewers.

After that, I just gave up on the final boss for now. I'm not anywhere near good enough to 'darksouls' it, like I'm sure some people already have done.

Not spoiling what it is, but there is some kind of big main quest objective in this game, that the npc's are telling me will weaken Ganon. I"m sure it's optional, as Nintendo's been saying you can try and take on the final boss right from the beginning of the game, but they do try to discourage you from doing that. "It would be foolish to try and face him now" one of old lady's told me.

Overall, I'm really loving the game. I still have a long way to go, so much of the map I haven't even been to yet, so much more preparing I need to do for the final boss. It's gonna be fun I imagine. :DD

Look at the size of this thing!  How is it supposed to fit in your pocket!?

Note: Nintendo Switch compared to 3DS XL.

How are you finding the switch and zelda, pokeplayer? :)

Edit: Damn, that poor, poor keyboard. Those keys even still work? :(

Haven't gotten to Zelda yet!  I'm distracted by the new Shovel Knight game where you play Specter Knight.

Yes, the keyboard works, though some of the keys are a little sticky.

Whether or not this was worth $300 will be decided fully on the games.  I will not be able to give an honest answer for a few years at least.

Anyways, I would like to now talk about the so called portability of the system.  Which would be simply not being as portable as I would like it to be.

In short, it's less portable than the last handheld, the 3DS.  The 3DS easily fit in your pocket and you could just take it out and play it whenever you want, given that you didn't have the sun shining directly on it and glaring up the screen.  However, unless I don't know about a pair of pants with deep enough pockets, you aren't going to be fitting the Switch in said pocket.  This in turn makes it about as portable as most modern day tablets.  Being that they are portable, but your not fitting it in your pocket anytime soon.

On top of that, the Switch has the same problem that the 3DS had with being able to play it anywhere.  It's the glare from the sun thing I mentioned earlier.  I seriously cannot see the screen if I take it outside when the sun is out.  Even if I adjust the brightness.

Portable, but not as much as I would like it to be.

Ah yeah that can be a problem I'd wait for cloudy days to take it outside. So the sun won't be a issue at all.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild is getting hilariously bad reviews on Metacritic.  They are obviously made by those who haven't played the game and are just made for trolling purposes.  Below is a video with 11 of them.

Nintendo was household name for me. I had NES to Nintendo Wii. I stopped getting consoles with Wii U. I felt the Wii U and Xbox One, and PS4 were essentially scams to get people to buy tech before it changed once again, example Bluray was basically to get us to buy DVD again with HD before Digital buying took over.

The Nintendo Switch was real next revolution for Nintendo. I despite having surrendered my controller, still like to keep privy and apprised of the latest Gaming. Switch's combo console and mobile device is a great idea, but I have heard many people are having terrible overheating problems, and dock for the handheld part is flimsy, can anyone substantiate these complaints?

Nintendo has struggled since N64 era to create challenging games. The advent of New Super Mario Bros. and most sequels to major franchises can be beaten with ease, while the old school Nintendo games were extremely difficult to beat or had so much to do as in case of SNES Super Mario World, that gamers kept busy.
