General Land Before Time / Auctioning off LBT stuff on eBay.
« on: January 13, 2011, 08:28:32 PM »
I have found, in these cash-stricken and tough economic times, that I've had to put up a few things to auction on eBay in order to get some extra money. Some of it's stuff that I never would have used anyway that had no value whatsoever to me, and some of it I kind of wanted to keep, but, whatever.

What I'm posting about here is that, for the aforementioned reason, I'm selling off my The Land Before Time stuff in one lot. In one way, it's kind of an end of an era for me, but this is something that I feel like I have to do at this point, given the circumstances. I hardly use this stuff, anyway, and maybe there's somewhere out there, perhaps even at this message board, that would get better use out of it. I intend to post it on eBay on January 15, but before doing so, I wanted to entertain the notion of possibly working out a deal with someone here on it. Pictures of the stuff are located here. For reference, here's what my eBay description will look like:
Quote
This auction is for a collection of The Land Before Time items. Included in the auction are all things pictured above:

  • The Land Before Time VHS in a sleeve.

  • The Land Before Time II: The Great Valley Adventure VHS in a clam shell.

  • The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving VHS in a clam shell.

  • The Land Before Time IV: Journey Through the Mists VHS in a clam shell.

  • The Land Before Time Sing Along Songs Burger King Screening Cassette VHS in a clam shell. This is a particularly rare item. The contents of the video are the same as the regular The Land Before Time Sing Along Songs VHS released in 1997, but this is a special version available only through Burger King back in the day. It was, according to information printed on the front and back of the clam shell, a "FULL-LENGTH SCREENING CASSETTE with PROMOTIONAL TRAILER". Instructions on the front say, "Please return to your sales representative after viewing. This does NOT represent final video sleeve art." Information on the back directed at the viewer explain in detail MCA/UNIVERSAL HOME VIDEO's advertising campaign for consumer impressions, including LBT distributions at "over 7,000 Burger KingÆ restaurants nationwide". The promotion lasted May through June 1997, with a statement that, "The Land Before TimeÆ SingïAlongïSongs ARRIVES MAY 13, 1997!" I've watched the video from end to end, and find that the contents are essentially the same as the regular consumer/retail version eventually released, with ten songs from the movies, including a special version of "If We Hold On Together" sung by Cera's and Ducky's voice actors Anndi McAfee and Aria Curzon, respectively, who took their roles after LBT IV. The songs are preceded by informational sections about real dinosaurs.

  • The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration DVD in case. Very good condition, but there is sticker residue at the top of the plastic cover protecting the front artwork. Complete with liner notes. The security sticker is still inside.

  • The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses DVD in case. Very good condition. Complete with liner notes. The security sticker is still inside.

  • The Land Before Time XII: The Great Day of the Flyers DVD in case. Very good condition. Complete with liner notes and the special DVD case sleeve. The liner notes include a now-expired coupon. The security sticker is still inside.

  • The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends DVD in case. Includes the episode "The Hidden Canyon" from the Cartoon Network The Land Before Time television series. Very good condition. Complete with liner notes and the special DVD case sleeve. The bottom section of a page of the liner notes was cut by me because it was a now-expired coupon, and I tired to use it, but the store didn't take it, so I put it back in. The security sticker is still inside.

  • The Land Before Time: Amazing Adventures! DVD in case. Includes the following episodes from the television series: "The Cave of Many Voices", "Canyon of the Shiny Stones", "The Meadow of Jumping Water", and "The Spooky Nighttime Adventure." Complete with liner notes. The bottom section of a page of the liner notes was cut by me because it was a now-expired coupon, and I tired to use it, but the store didn't take it, so I put it back in. The security sticker is still inside.

  • The Songs From The Land Before Time CD. The CD and case are in like new condition. The CD contains the following songs from the movies: 1 You Are One Of Us Now (from LBT II), 2 When You're Big (LBT III), 3 Kids Like Us (LBT III), 4 Peaceful Valley (LBT II), 5 Who Needs You (LBT IV), 6 Standing Tough (LBT III), 7 Grandma's Lullaby (LBT IV), 8 Eggs (LBT II), 9 It Takes All Sorts (LBT IV), and 10 If We Hold On Together, a special version of the Diana Ross song from the original movie that's sung by Aria Curzon and Anndi McAfee. It's very pretty in my opinion. I've listened to the CD just to make sure it doesn't skip, and I can assure you that it doesn't. This is a very rare CD that's extremely hard to find. Even used prices are up the roof on other shopping websites, and I certainly couldn't find one in any given condition on the rest of eBay.

  • Large 14" Littlefoot plushie from KELLYTOY.

  • Large 14" Cera plushie from KELLYTOY.

  • Large 14" Ducky plushie from KELLYTOY.

  • Large 14" Petrie plushie from KELLYTOY.

  • Large 14" Spike plushie from KELLYTOY.

  • Small Cera toy that squirts air out of a small hole in the mouth, typical of small kids' toys of its era.

Each of the aforementioned DVDs and VHS tapes are in very good condition. All have been tested, and there is no fuzz on the VHS tapes or skipping on the CD and DVDs. All are complete, and the CD and DVDs come with the appropriate liner notes. The plushies are in very good condition, with no rips on the fabric. The tags are still attached, though they are slightly bent. More pictures are located here. Feel free to ask for more pictures. I never put reserve prices on my auctions, so bid with confidence. The shipping price includes tracking and insurance.

I'll need to receive payment before shipping the item. As per eBay's rules, I only accept PayPal. If you're bidding on other items of mine or are considering it, fell free to contact me and ask about combining shipping to receive a discount on the shipping of your purchases from me. I'll accept alternate delivery methods for faster shipping, but you'll get the fastest results if you contact me about this before the auction ends or paying for it. The shipping cost will be updated accordingly. While the item shouldn't take more than 12 days to arrive after being shipped and almost always arrives in less than 7, sometimes the carrier has issues, they get delayed or temporarily misplace the shipment, issues arise at international borders and customs, etc. If them item doesn't arrive within 31 days of shipping, you'll be allowed a refund according to my refund policy. If you find anything in the transaction that would make you rate me anything other than 5 stars in any DSR category (Item as described, Communication, Shipping time, and Shipping and handling charges), please feel free to contact me. Further shipping, return policy, and feedback details are provided in the Shipping and payments tab above.

Now, assuming you're interested, you can send me a personal message or email (or post in this topic if the PM system isn't working), and we'll work out a price of some kind. You can pay me three basic ways. First is the eBay way, PayPal. Pay this way, and I can send the box of stuff instantly. If I get paid for selling on eBay, I get hit with a fee because it was a purchase, but this way, it can be a personal transfer between us, and there are no fees involved. Second is a check through the mail if you have an aversion with PayPal. I can't send the box until the check arrives and has been cashed with the actual money in my hand, verifying that the check's not hot. Plus, you've got to hope the check arrives. I can't do much if the check gets lost in the mail, though. I can't be held liable for that. Third, if you're a real daredevil, you can attempt to send raw cash through the mail. You still have to wait for me to get it, but I can send the box at once at that point. Just remember, though: if the United States Postal Service or whatever carrier you use fumbles the shipment of money, I'm not liable. Do remember one thing, though: There's a lot of stuff here, some of it fairly common commodities, some of it really rare stuff, and plenty of movies, shows, and the sing along thing to go with them, so I'm going to want this to be worth my while. Again, send me a personal message to work out a deal, but keep the combined value of this stuff in mind, since I've already done online research to determine the lowest prices this stuff goes for, and have determined what my eBay starting price will be.

General Discussions is for non-LBT stuff, and this message board is said to be for anything not directly related to the films or show, so this looked to be the best place to post it. If I have done wrong in doing so, feel free to move this topic.

EDIT: I've heard tell that the PM system isn't working, so you can also post here or use the email function that Invision Free has.

Don't know exactly where to put this, but this looked like a good place, since it involved friend codes.

I need friend vouchers for my US version of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. I need 15 friend vouchers to buy the rest of the stuff. I have 26 friend vouchers to trade in return. I will trade one friend voucher for one friend voucher. Anyone requesting more than 15 (since 15 green tokens are all you need to buy everything) will be... thoroughly questioned... for this odd request.

In keeping with relevance with this topic, we need each others' Wii friend codes to make this swap of vouchers. I'm a little skiddish about posting all of my video game friend codes for the whole wide world to see (this topic would be 10 times better off in the After Midnight section where guests couldn't see it, but, alas, the video game section isn't there, but that still doesn't mean this topic can't be there in some form), so what I'm going to do is request for a PM. If you have vouchers to offer and possibly need some yourself (I'm also willing to take freebies :p), just send me a PM with your friend code, and I'll send you mine. Remember, I have the regular version of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, so if you have the Metroid Prime Trilogy version, trading will be impossible. More instructions are in the URL contained in this link.

If anyone's interested, I also have friend codes for the following games or systems:
  • Nintendo DSi
  • Mario Kart DS
  • Mario Kart Wii
  • Metroid Prime Hunters
  • PokÈmon SoulSilver
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
This might not mean much to some of the people here, since I stay gone an awful lot, and some of you all might not know me, but I sure some of the cats here still remember me. I know I remember taking to Flathead770 about how easy the control scheme to Metroid Prime 3 was years back, which is part of the reason why I thought to make this request here. ;)

General Land Before Time / The Crash... we didn't want to hear
« on: December 11, 2010, 08:26:26 PM »
I haven't chimed in on this yet, so I'll speak my peace since I seem to have the time.

I've been lurking around unnoticed once in a while, and I was watching when wind of this first broke. To be honest, I wasn't surprised by this at all. When a year passed after LBT 13 with no word on anything else, I kind of figured this would happen. I didn't expect for them to have the willpower or talent to connect Chomper's return and Ruby's presence in the series with the movies. It was no surprise when I learned that Universal pulled the plug. The series plodded on with numerous sequels with no real forward direction. Some of them might be enjoyable to some of us fans who remember this series from our childhoods and like to hold on to that part of our pasts, but that doesn't generate enough money for Universial to justify continuing to spend money on this series. We might find enjoyment in these sequels, but being as how they're made mainly for the little ones, they're just not very palitable for the average movie conneseur. They figured it was time for them to move on to new and better things.... I also find it rather crass that they decided to stop on LBT 13.

Unless someone magically decides to reboot the series or pick up the pieces, this is the commercial end of The Land Before Time. No more movies or television episodes, and no novels, either. You'd be super lucky to find any new children's books. Is this the end of LBT as a whole? Absolutely not. While this is the end of commercial LBT for the time being, this is also a new begging, and this end by Universal isn't necessarily a bad thing, either. What am I referring to? Fanfiction, fanart, fanon--the imagination of the fans who fondly remember LBT. With no more constraints of sequel upon sequel, we're free to examine the finer details of the series with no worry of conflicting with official canon. We're free to explore what happened between LBT 13 and the series. How did Chomper get back to The Great Valley? We can now let our imaginations run amok and make speculation with what information the movies and series (official canon) do provide, and bridge our own gaps. It's not like we couldn't do this before, but now, there's nothing else in the way to hold us back or say, "No, there's no way Universal would write that in." No sequels or official canon. We can now also make our own LBT 14, LBT 15, etc. Get into the nitty-gritty between the lines. LBT now belongs to the fans. Not commercially speaking (we can't just up and use their characters and things to sell our own merchandise), but we will, for the most part, decide what direction the LBT fandom goes in.

It's time for the fans to pick up where Universal left off (if they haven't already done so). And yes, I know I'm terribly late on the bandwagon, but I've been wanting to say this for a long time, and now, I have the chance to do so.

I honestly don't know of any web browsers that don't support CSS in the fist place (unless they're some small phone browsers or whatever), but whatever. I guess we view the web through two very different set of eyes. I'd rather not have to edit a bunch of files for one small thing, while you'd rather not have two files make up one page. It's only one additional file for an entire website in my case, but meh. :p

The second design looks like it's missing a background in the main section, just using the main background floating around. The first design has a decent background. The first design looks more complete to me, so that's where I'm casting my [theoretical] vote.

And as far as CSS goes--it's a lifesaver, at least for me. I'll use my website at http://www.chexquest.org/chexquestgallery/ as an example. I made the CSS and HTML myself. I used a CSS stylesheet to style all pages. Now, if I didn't use a stylesheet, but just tried to shoe in everything, do you know what would happen if I, say, wanted to change the text from green to yellow, or the font from Arial Black to, say, Impact? Yeah, I'd have to go through every single page and alter a bunch of stuff in every page. The work would be even worse for a larger website. But with CSS, I can alter a single line of text in only one file, and BAM, all text cross my website can be transformed by that single line. Trust me, CSS is the best thing since the HyperText Markup Language was created. ;)

The Fridge / I plan on leaving YouTube
« on: June 08, 2009, 03:28:13 PM »
My speculation was that the 915 account originally belonged to Mahmood, but someone else hacked it (the hackers left their names, which was also the case with the last account I saw that got hacked).

It does seem like YouTube is also filled with people that steal videos, people that impersonate, people that hack, blah blah blah.

This is your resident Manny popping in to add a couple of cents to the discussion here. I might be pouring gasoline on the pokeplayer984 fire (don't anybody accuse of plagiarism, as that's a common expression :p), as in providing more reasons to leave, but whatever.

So, I'm cruising around on the interwebs, minding my own business, when I get an email from YouTube. A member by the name of pokeplayer915 had subscribed to my channel. I recognized the poleplayer name from here, and I knew the 3-digit number started with a 9, but the rest of the numbers seemed... off. I went to the profile of my new subscriber to see what was up.

It was here that I saw all kinds of warning lights flash up, telling me that this was not the pokeplayer I knew.

The title in the account says, "MAHMOOD ULL NEVER WIN." However, it looks like the account somehow got hacked by some people (I've seen this happen to one other YouTube member). I knew Mahmood got banned here (though I never knew why), and I knew that Mahmood impersonated some people from here with similar YouTube names, but something seems way off with this profile. If I had to guess, I'd say that this profile used to belong to Mahmood, but someone hijacked it. If you look at Recent Activity, you'll see that the member has been busy making friends in the past couple of hours. The member also favorited one of my videos. Mahmood also tried to do a few things to connect with me, such as sending friend invites, subscribing, etc.

I made a random guess and found here what I assume to be pokeplayer984's real YouTube account.

So that's what I can contribute to this little discussion. Hope this information is helpful. Perhaps someone here can also fill in some of the holes in my findings.

It's a perfectly fine example, in my opinion, because it seems to me that the question is related more to modern-day issues than those in the Great Valley, and the entire idea is just plain silly. :P: It's not anything serious, Malte279 (unless AvestheForumFox's cynical nature got the best of me and tripped me over). I think it's just supposed to be a light-hearted question. Did you noticed the use of the smiley and the word "funny" in the first post?

As for Littlefoot not knowing what money is, you could just substitute that for something that might be of equal or great value in the Great Valley, like a "pretty stone" or something that might cause one to keep it to his or herself rather than turn it over. You're not going to get very far if you don't think laterally or out of the box.

Sorry, I don't think I was clear enough. I meant how did the herd (Littlefoot's grandparents, Topsy, Tria, etc.) find the gang in this secret location the sharpteeth were in?
The herd didn't find the sharpteeth....the sharpteeth found the herd in the middle of the valley.
Wow. So the herd doesn't know the secret location, after all. I really didn't catch that.

Kor, I can't bottle this up any longer. You keep calling yourself a garbage writer, unintelligent, stupid, etc. I don't know your about your personal life or anything like that, but you can't just go around like that, dousing your own self-esteem. It really bothers me to see you like that.

Oooh. Plot twist. What's with the sharpteeth, what's the secret location, and how in Davey Jones' locker did the others find the gang!?
The sharpteeth you'll learn about in a future chapter....the secret location...you'll find out about soon as well...and I re-edited the chapter so it is better explained how the sharpteeth found the gang....but come on they are sharpteeth...much like Chomper they just used their noses!

I think that this would be nice as a silly game (as I am sure AvestheForumFox originally intended it). However, I don't think it has any real useful applications, because, as Malte279 stated, Littlefoot, like the rest of us, isn't perfect. He's made some bad choices, as well. I think we should be careful on who we choose as our role models. In fact, I would say that we shouldn't try to fully imitate any one man's life or actions because of this sort of thing, even if there are some fine examples set by those predating (or perhaps even otherwise) us on this Earth. What would Jesus do, however, is a different subject altogether....

Anyway, is this supposed to be a game of some sort that we're supposed to play?
