If a character was to die

I noticed when I was little that...movie 1 is the only movie in which a good charactter actually dies. But is there any saying this can't happen again? Really...anyone but the gang is liable. For me...it would probably be saddest if it was Grandpa, he's such a big part of it all, having him nearly die in 4 was scary enough...
