My god that trailer was a fun rush. I didn't think I'd get another one like that. What a fun time <3

Character Showcase / Re: Shorty Showcase - August 2019
« on: August 02, 2019, 02:13:39 PM »
Honestly, I really wasn't sure Shorty "fit" in X. The movie already felt pretty stuffed, and here was this extra obstacle for Littlefoot thrown in the middle. Upon rewatch, though, I started gaining more of an appreciation for the character. He's Littlefoot if Littlefoot HADN'T wound up with his friends. His fears of losing Bron, maybe his only source of stability and family, to Littlefoot just showing up, is an interesting complication. One that was resolved a little rapidly, but an interesting turn nonetheless, ans one that felt surprisingly grounded and real. I'd really enjoy seeing him again, perhaps to continue as a foil for Littlefoot.

Towerfall is perhaps one of the best couch co-ops I've ev3r played. It's a snappy and slick 2D arena shooter with arrows and a ton of unique mechanics. There is also a delightfully chaotic versus mode.

The Written Word / Iain M Banks and the Culture Series
« on: August 02, 2019, 12:16:18 AM »
Hey all! I've recently discovered Iain M Banks' works, specifically his stories set in his Culture universe. I've gotten through Use of Weapons and The Player of Games, and I am frankly blown away at how wonderfully thoughtful and engaging his views of a post scarcity galactic civilization and its people are. The sociopolitical and cultural aspects being as important, if not moreso, than the technology that enables the society is fascinating, and in those regards it outstrips a lot of what I'd previously considered to be extremely progressive science fiction.

Has anyone else read or enjoyed these excellent books?

Oddly enough I think it might have been 3 on a rental VHS for me! Took me a while to realize there were more.

Just wanted to chime in here and say that wow, this was a blast of a time. The narrative's a little rough, as is anyone who isn't Ryan Renolds, but the visuals and energy and designs were a blast. Easily one of the most creative big budget films of the year, and a risk I hope to see taken more often!

I'm actually really pumped for this. I really enjoyed The Last Jedi, and I look forward to seeing this cast blow me away again, not to mention having a more complete picture of the sequel era's arc.

This is a really neat find! Behind the scenes stuff on this sort of thing is remarkably rare.

LBT Fanfiction / Re: Star Wars LBT crossover
« on: March 17, 2019, 03:24:12 AM »
Lord it has been FOREVER since I touched this one!
As you all probably have guessed, this thing is defunct. It was a blast of a project in my teen years, but it's safe to say I've changed enough that coming back to it just doesn't seem appropriate.

That said, if anyone was curious, I'd be more than willing to share what few notes I have on this story. I'm also pretty I'll be getting to something new soon enough, albeit not a crossover...probably.

Finally, to anyone who enjoyed this strange little hobby of mine, thank you. You guys made this thing a ton of fun to pour myself into, and really made my teen years that much better.

Character Showcase / Re: Cera Showcase - March 2019
« on: March 17, 2019, 02:23:03 AM »
Cera is probably the character I empathize with most, next to Littlefoot. She changes dramatically as she learns the value of others, while retaining the same fiery spirit that defines her. She can be occasionally frustrating, but I think I appreciate that tough pride and determination more than ever.

Cera is rad.

Hey, I think I recognize you. You once read the LBT/Bionicle crossover fanfiction I was writing at the time, then asked me to check out your LBT/Star Wars crossover story, right? If that's the case, sorry I never got around to it (though that probably wouldn't have mattered anyway, since you stopped being active for quite a while).

And if you were still interested in my reading fanfiction, while I did finish the first story, I made some progress through my second story before I eventually just lost interest and decided to cancel all further progress (the latest chapter was posted back in 2013). I'm still writing fanfiction, but now it's for a completely different series. If you're interested, you can find the links in my signature.

Hey there! I remember you and your fanfic well! It was quite the fun read as I recall! No worries on mine, it definitely wasn't going anywhere x3 I'll  have to check out your works!

And to answer your question jedi: Yes, being gone  10 years and coming back is worthy of a " welcome Back! thread"

Haha, duly noted! I was hoping this was the appropriate place.

Hobbies and Recreation / Re: What is Your current job or future job

I drifted around a LOT after finishing my microbiology degree, mostly in pursuit of affordable insulin. The last two years have allowed me to become a QC Reviewer for cell laboratory tests, and to be honest I couldn't be happier with it. The stability and the pacing is perfect for me, and I'm able to redesign processes and, for the first time, to have a real impact on the environment around me. I just got promoted this week, and as someone who's struggled a LONG time to keep going, it's relief to know I have a spot. =)

Hello! I'm also relatively new, so you probably don't know me either, but it's nice to see some of the old guard return!

Hey there! It's wonderful to meet you as well! I suppose I do fit into that old guard bit now, don't I? x3
