How would you preserve this franchise?

Well, with the news from Mumbling, there is no doubt in my mind now that Universal has no future plans for this franchise. So, what is the best thing us fans can do about this? Simple! We preserve the franchise we all love.

So, if you wanted to, how would you preserve it for all time?

Me? I've got some ideas, but there's so much that I don't know if I can preserve it all on a website. I'll at least give it a shot.

So, what would you guys do?

I feel like I have very little power as far as this issue goes, but seeing as The Gang of Five itself represents the largest concentration of LBT fans on the web, I would do everything I could to keep our forum up and running (as I fully intend to -_-).

Well it has been almost three years since the last movie was made. Usually there's only either a one or two year gap between the movies. It may still be too early to tell if we'll have any more movies but right now it's not looking too promising...

@Pokeplayer, what do you mean by "preserve"?

I think pokeplayer means using fanart, fanfiction, fan characters and role-play to keep the franchsise alive. I've read fanfictions that would be perfect as The Land Before Time XIV (Rise of the Storm Tide, Sharptooth Valley, etc.).

Not true at all.

The first and second were six years apart.

The tv series and XIV are apparently three years apart.

Actually Animeboye said that "usually" there was only a year or two gap between the movies. He did not say that all the movies only had a year or two gap in between. He just meant that most of them had only a year or two gap inbetween.

I was actually referring to the pace at which the sequels were released. I wasn't even thinking about the original when I posted that. Like I said before, the sequels were always released within a year or two of each other. LBTs 2-6 were all released within a year of one another. But by the time we got to LBT 7, then it started being every year or two. Do you see what I meant now?

Preserve would basically mean to keep it alive.

Now, I understand that this is asking a lot, but there are other franchises that had this happen to them. Basically, the franchise at hand is kept and being told about to the point where, years later, they finally give the franchise it's proper ending.

Look, we all know that 13 was a disaster! (Heck, some of us are convinced it doesn't exist. It's that bad.) We don't want that to be it's end. None of us do. We want one last good movie before it truly kicks the bucket. So our best bet to get something like this is to keep it alive and growing in fan culture until we finally get it.

Look, I know it's asking a lot, but it can be done.

So, how would you go about preserving this franchise?

But I wouldn't call LBTXIII a disaster, Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever is a disaster. I haven't seen it, but since it was banned in South Africa for being so gory and mature, probaly nothing I'd want to see.

Plus the director from the first movie didn't even want to direct it, and the director of the second had his named changed, that's how nad he hated his own movie.

:unsure: I don't know about you, but It may be too late to try and preserve a franchise that should just rest in peace. Although, I would've preferred them to make one more movie to be at least be as good or better than the original to give people a reason to remember this franchise with that last "great" film it could've had. Unfortunately they saved the worst for last. <_<

I'd rather just try and preserve this forum, instead.

Who knows, the way Hollywood often has no creativity they may try to do a remake at some point in the future. They've done remakes before.

I don't think Hollywood even cares anymore. The year is not even over yet and we are still getting the crappiest movies known to man. Some of them even become the most popular! For example; Vampires Suck. I saw a trailer of it and I felt my IQ level drop 80%. It amazes me how much people like certain stupid stuff that isn't hard to make fun of anyways. Piranha 3d was stupid but at least it was fun to watch!

And as far as remakes go, many of them end up being an epic fail.
But...everyone has their likes and dislikes no matter how stupid it is. That is what makes us all individuals.

^While on the note of the vampire fad, anybody else notice how fads die out and then rebound? Who knows? Maybe dinosaurs will become the latest fad sooner or later, and perhaps this will act as some kind of a jumper cable to the LBT series, if even for a brief couple of years

There have been many franchise fads that had vanished but then rebounded: Star Trek, Batman, TMNT, Scooby Doo, and even 90210 for Pete's sake

They actually finished Inuyasha and that surprised the hell out of me. Inuyasha practically died in 2004. Then in 2010 they finished it with one single series. Unfortunately it's still not out in English yet. Thank God I'm able to watch the Japanese version. But anyway, series revive sometimes and sometimes they're even better than before! I liked the last season of Inuyasha (released in 2010) the best out of all the other seasons.

EDIT: Reboot? Do you mean a remake, or just a movie like the first to start the series up again? Or a short film, like an hour-long episode special on cartoon network?

Let's not be starting any rumors around this. I'm sure you aren't intending on it, but as we have stated, unless an official Universal source confirms that a new movie is in the works, we cannot speculate on a release date. Again, you might not be trying to do this, but just to keep things in mind.

A reboot would be a new movie to restart the franchise and take it in a new direction. Many franchises have followed this approach. A couple examples are Batman (Batman Begins) Star Trek (Star Trek [2009]) and The Incredible Hulk (The Incredible Hulk [2008]). A reboot of LBT may include new art direction, new voice actors, and tweaked setting.
