WHAT HAPPENED TO HIP'S FACE!?!

Oh my gosh...

He looks like a flat-toothed crocodile. <_<

I liked everything about it so far...I've been watching it thanks to landbeforetimelover's link...but this saddens me more than spilled ice cream...And that's saying something because I really like ice cream!!!! :cry

Just...just...just...

WHY!?!?!

Hyp is not the only returning character that changed in appearance. For example, Old One has also changed. Believe she changed in color and I don't think she has that mark on her left eye anymore.

I know I saw...but it didn't really matter to me because I didn't like her as much as I liked Hyp...

He just doesn't seem as mean and nasty without that more boxy head, and I think it is an injustice to his character for being drawn that way when he was perfectly fine before...

I mean, without Hyp we wouldn't have "Kids Like Us".

I personally don't see much of a problem here, no offense. Provided I do prefer characters to have the same appearance throughout a franchise. But if they decide to redesign the character, either small changes or bigger ones, that's really the right of the company.

I too prefer they would keep a character looking the same, but I can live with some changes as long as they are not huge changes in the way a character looks.  I guess part of it comes down to the  preference of the animators.

I was a bit surprised that they did change Hyp's appearance.

Well think of it this way:

The TV series was an experiment.  They didn't want to pay the original artists all that money and they had limited time so they hired artists that weren't as good just so they could get the stories out so fast.  Sad but true, however I would have done the same in their place. :p

You mean the whole TV series was just an experiment? :o

Of course.  They've been making movies forever now and they wanted to see if they could increase their profits by making a TV series.

Well, I hope that from this 'experiment' they learned what things they should and should not do.

How could it not be?  They were trying to see if it would be a success or not.  That sounds like an experiment to me.

Sounds like it's just your opinion. I thought you had found an official statement or something from Universal where they said it was an experiment.

It seems like an experiment to me. Any time a long-running franchise deviates from their norm, they're experimenting. THat's just kinda the definition of an experiment.

If they wanted to experiment with a TV show they could have just done an hour-long TV special using a similar plot.

Ah, true that. Hmmm. I'll need to think about it, but you do have a point there.

Yeah, they could have, but that would've made sense. People rarely do things cuz they make sense, they do it for money.  Making a tv series of LBT was a bad idea from the start.  I mean, there's only so much you can do in a natural environment.  Besides, I doubt CN would have endorsed a tv series with only one episode anyway.

It would have also made beter sense, say about 10 years ago., when interest in LBt was higher. Say after LBT 5. Have Ali and Chomper as permanebnnt chaerracters create a  bad guy that drives bioth Ali and Chomper into the Great Valley, and over the course of the series, the gang and the members of the great Valley have to beat the basd guy. The problem with this series was, there was no story development over the course of the episodes, it was one 'adventure ' to the next, without any real explabnation as to how Chomper and Rubyy got into the Valley nor how they had managed to persuade the residents tio letr them stay, nor any reason about why the bad guy (DarkClaw?) was there..The siongs were not memorable, and they paraded old characters from the older movies in an atempt to placate us older fans, but those characters were not the characters who had so intrigued us, particularkly (for ne at leadt ) Ali. She was a laughable imitation of the longneck girl that figured so prominently in LBT 4, and sparked hours of debate over whether or not she and Littlefoot were related, or whether they were an 'item'. And Rhette was a plot device, nothing more.. that episode was big downer for me..

Likely it would have been better then.  The series has bad points, but it had good points also.  Though I do like Ruby it would have made more sense to have Ali as a resident instead of making up a character from scratch, and add in Chomper, those 2 are very popular characters.  As for a connected story, some like anime do have that, but some series do not.  Some also have a plot that is sort of happening in the back but is resolved, then another will eventually happen, and be resolved over x episodes, but the episode plot may have nothing to do with this.  Gargoyles was this type.  You can also have a well written series that is just one plot per episode then the next episode is a new unconnected plot, so many options.
