LBT Fanfiction / Re: The Pursuit of Endless Day
« on: May 06, 2019, 08:40:24 AM »
Uh, ... er, ... w-wow. This chapter certainly changed my perspective of this story. Up until now, I had been under the impression that Petrie was doing this because his mother inspired him to do it, but only now I'm reading this and it just so turns out that he's doing this as a punishment for killing someone? :opetrie

This story has definitely taken a dark turn, and this chapter particularly did quite an effective job at explaining the darker side of Flyer traditions. Nearly the whole chapter just about made my blood turn cold just from the idea that Petrie could be tried as a criminal just like his uncle, but worse, ... a murderer. The way it ended, though, seems like you've taken another inspiration from Game of Thrones by having Petrie letting "their God" decide his fate. In my eyes, he's just an innocent child who was dragged into this for all the wrong reasons, and all these flashbacks have painted a very morbid picture of just how he ended up where he is now. I'm actually quite impressed by how effective this chapter was, even if it mostly relied on flashbacks. Nice job, bud! :)

If there is one thing you could change about the LBT series (if anything), what would it be?

I would probably allow the movies to be just a little longer. I was especially disappointed by how the ending to "The Stone of Cold Fire" seemed somewhat rushed. We didn't see the families' reactions to their kids coming home, which particularly should have been the case for Ducky's family. Then again, I kinda did that justice with one of my fanfiction prompt entries last year.

What’s the funniest TV show or movie you’ve ever seen? If it's too difficult to list one, you can name more than that.  :)

Well, the only comedies I vividly remember are the three Austin Powers movies that spoofed James Bond. I never forgot my reaction to hearing Michael York's voice again (he played Basil Exposition; the "M" of Austin Powers, if you will), and I thought 'Don't I recognize that voice somewhere?'

I still have my adblocker ... at least, for now ...

I quit using Google Chrome because it sucked up my memory and made my computer freeze constantly, and I switched to Firefox because it was more reliable than Chrome.

I saw the trailer and I was just ... disgusted.

^ Oh yes, that's definitely a sad one. :cry

What is the worst song you have heard in recent memory?

I'm not sure. I'm not an everyday listener, and I'm pretty selective when it comes to even looking stuff up, so I can't really give you a clear answer on that one.

What character would it be the most fun to change places with for a week? This isn't just LBT related, anything applies. :)

Probably Miles "Tails" Prower from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It'd be amazing to see all the gadgets he's made. :) Meanwhile, he's likely going to attend a science fair!

What’s the saddest scene in a movie or TV series?

This is a very difficult one to answer, but if I have to exclude LBT, then it'd probably have to be that scene in the final Harry Potter movie where Harry sees Snape's memories and discovers his true story and allegiances.

Do you have a favourite LBT sequel?

I really liked The Stone of Cold Fire and The Big Freeze, because we got to see great character buildup in both those movies. There really was a sense of maturity when one learned the hard way just how you should trust someone or if you can trust him or not, and the other showed Ducky's flaws for, like, the first time. It was the first time we really got to see Ducky grow as a character.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

I'd probably try full-time sim racing on either PC or PS4.

Have you ever had any LBT dreams? If so, which character were you?

I have had quite a few LBT dreams, but I wasn't necessarily in them as a character. I can vividly remember one where Ducky and Petrie went on an adventure to some ... strange land that seemed much like the Great Valley, but something seemed ... different about it, ... not in a bad way. It gave off some unusual vibes. I don't remember much about that place, and the one thing I vividly remember picturing is Ducky and Petrie staring down at the place from a high cliff in absolute amazement, much like Littlefoot's initial reaction upon his first glimpse at the Great Valley; their mouths wide open, letting out soft gasps of surprise, and their eyes widened in astonishment like they couldn't believe what they had just found. I wish I could say more, but that was all I could recall.

Oh, how did that come about? As in, how did your fanfic lead you to discover Modern Talking?

I was looking up romantic meanings for 'heart and soul' so that I could put some very romantic flavor into Ducky and Petrie's relationship. Instead, however, I found thousands of results leading me to the 1984 Modern Talking hit, "You're My Heart, You're My Soul." At first, I was hesitant, but eventually I gave in and watched the music video on YouTube. Writing a romantic adventure seemed to lead to an adventure of my own. LOL!

What would be your spirit animal?

I took a Spirit Animal quiz, and apparently, they said mine would be a tiger.

Would you rather be able to control fire or water?

Probably fire.

Yeah, someone in college wanted me to try mixing two series together, and it worked for a short while, but since the story never became popular (and I kinda detested the story, anyway), I thought it just wasn't worth it anymore.

Proof that I hate writing crossovers.

Oh, and yes, I loved that movie, and it does a much better job at depicting vampires than ... You-Know-What. I refuse to ever speak the name of that dreadful series.

What is your favorite of the Donkey Kong games?

I'd have to say Donkey Kong Country Returns. I never really played the SNES trilogy, because I never owned an SNES.

Would you rather be completely invisible for one day or be able to fly for one day?

As much as I'd like to do both, I think I'd try being invisible first. :D

That does sound pretty cool!  :yes

If you suddenly became a master at woodworking, what would you make?  :)

I think I'd make an excellently-crafted race car.

If you had unlimited funds to build a house that you would live in for the rest of your life, what would the finished house be like?

That's a hard one. I already do have a huge bedroom, but if I were able to build a new house, I'd probably include a bar between the kitchen and dining room, and I'd really like to have some arcade machines in the basement!

Favourite band or musical artist? Or if you can't narrow it down to just one, feel free to name several.

I listened to a lot of metal when I was in high school. I particularly enjoyed listening to Killswitch Engage. I have every single one of their albums.

Ten years later, though, I listen to various kinds of music now. I really got sucked into drum and bass band Pendulum during my college years.

I accidentally discovered Modern Talking two years ago while I was writing my original version of "Secret Love," and I don't regret it! It's so crazy how my own DuckyxPetrie romance story got me into a German former pop band that has since broken up and never released their music here in America, and now whenever I listen to one of their 80's hits, I think about Ducky and Petrie!

Is there a nickname in real life that people ever refer to you by?

To be honest, no. These days, I've basically shied away from that.

Any TV shows you're currently watching?

I don't really watch TV very often at all, but I am keeping track of the final season of Game of Thrones.
