Does anyone hate this?

Does anyone really hate how after the scene where Petrie returns Littlefoot is suddenly by himself and so hopeless? Doesn't it seem...odd and out of place, considering all that just happened? Well it should, cause it doesn't even belong there, it belongs after the fight with Cera, and would have happened then, and it would be a truly grief striken moment, but no, they had to rearrange the whole ending so that Littlefoot doesn't find the valley til later, and as a result this moment is odd. Gosh, I hate the cuts that were made. I WANT THE F**ING ORIGINAL CUT!!  :anger

To be honest, it doesn't feel out of place. Not to me anyway. I was never bothered by it, even as a kid. I mean think about it. Malte pointed this out before. Seeing Petrie alive would have reminded Littlefoot of what happened to his mother and how long it took for him to accept that she really was dead. Him going off on his own made perfect sense as he comes to terms with that.

Well, I was never bothered by it as a kid either, cause, you know,

I just think the scene would make more sense in the original context. I mean, it would explain why the others are suddenly gone. But yeah, I overeacted. Sorry.

I wasn't upset.

I'm honestly not sure if that was how the scene was to play out in the original context. I'm not sure if the book has his mother's spirit or not showing up to guide him. I had not really thought about it much.

Well I wasn't bothered by it as a kid, but I'm older now and I want the original version that made sense. :neutral

It varies between many.  At first, you rather have the cuts, but it just makes more sense without it and seems that the cuts are just extra pieces that would just extend the film.

It was meant to be the way it originally was! I sooooo want the full version of movie 1...and whatever deleted scenes there were for the sequels... :anger

It's not that out of place for Littlefoot to wander off for some thinking time, which his friends would have granted him by then. I can see him stewing it over and coming to the conclusion that they'll never get there.
Yes, the original cut would be nice, but it is never going to happen.

Yeah I mean when someone you love dies you need some time alone to get all the anger and sadness off your chest so I don't see how what Petrie did was bad.

The originals ^Nothing to do with Petrie85's response^ were probably just some brainstormed ideas.  Remember, LBT 1 was a theatrical release so they had to shorten it...and they didn't have DVD's where they could put deleted scenes.

I do not hate that scene. What I wrote in the other thread was in the different context of Littlefoot's sadness being easier to understand if set after the fight with Cera. While I too would have prefered the original setting it is not so huge an issue for me as to be referred to as hatred. Also I think it is not implausible for Littlefoot to feel a severe twinge of pain after Petrie's return because of the realization that his mother will not return.
