The website always was a flashy website. Sadly enough you cannot reach the /friends part either anymore (if anyone remembers that one).

It now directs you to a website of Universal studios. Guess this is the final sign of The Land Before Time stopping.. :neutral

Unless the website is under some kind of a makeover, and Universal did not want fans to be treated to that annoying text "Internet Explorer cannot display this page." :rolleyes.  We'll just have to wait and see what happens.  Seems like all Universal wants to do is let its LBT fans linger without even being courteous enough to give us word on anything :neutral.

I thought the design of their page at a much earlier state was a lot better. I do not remember when they changed it to the state from where it now has been changed again but on the page of the different movies there used to be an image where footprints of Littlefoot lead from various icons of elements from the movies. It is a long time since this has been changed though. I don't quite recall if LBT 6 or 7 was the last one to be added to that track, but in any case I found it looked better than all the following styles.
In case of this last change I seriously wonder why they changed it at all. Would it have cost them any maintenance or anything to keep it as it was?

Well Malte they do have to pay for the domain costs, but other than that not much.

That part with the littlefoot footprints is indeed the /friends part I was talking about (you could still access it when you added that part to the url). It was indeed by far the best website they had made for the land before time.

Perhaps the site has been decommissioned and Universal has now consolidated LBT to archives. I've noticed that LBT seems to be fading from the forefront of any major distributors be they broadcasters or retailers. LBT is hard to come by in shops nowadays and the only UK channel that was showing LBT doesn't broadcast the TV episodes any more. Not good signs :neutral

I agree with Cancerian Tiger, they might be doing a major update on their website. Like adding the other characters on to it, mostly the supporting, Ali, Shorty, Rhett, Grandparents, Tria, Bron, Cera's parents, Tricia and Ruby's family. Another reason why it could been taken off is their probaly adding LBT14 on there. We'll just have to wait and see if what Cancerian Tiger, and I think is true.

Guess I'd better move on and make the final plans to preserve our beloved franchise on my site.

Farewell, The Land Before Time.  We will miss you. -_-

I don't think that is what CT meant.

We're getting closer and closer to going from a fan-group to an underground cult. :(

They prepaid for the domain and if the domain itself still works (which it does even though it's just a redirect) then the only explanation I have for shutting down the website is that it is in fact going through major changes.  I always hated the website anyways.

Of course they may have just wanted to stop sacrificing the bandwidth for a dead movie series.  But they're still making money from it so I don't see why they would close down the site.  The cost of the domain is marginal ($14/yr) compared to the profit they make off of one DVD (probably $4 - $5).  As for bandwidth, the website didn't receive that many visitors per day.  According to my sources, the website only gets around 400 hits per day.  But damn.  If I can snag that domain, I'm sure we'd be getting a ton more members.

No, go to it and find out, it's kind of hard to explain.

The domain I gave GOF is www.thelandbeforetime.co.nr.  I can barely afford a .com/.org for the many other websites I have.  I'm paying out the a$$ for domains (though fortunately I'm only paying for hosting for my business website (though I'm going to pay for hosting on the next site I put up so it will support PHP and MySql and perhaps for TheLandBeforeTime.org for the same reason)).

We all have to admit this day was coming
for those who think that it's just some site reparing-I'm disagree, anyways even if it is I don't expect anymore LBT movies but I want them MORE THAN ANYTHING
but just admit it-LBT is DEAD
and we fans just will have to hold on here as long as we can, tell others of LBT and maybe it'll live for very long

P.S. sorry for being so pessimistic, it's just so horrible to realize that my favorite movies series just died completely

Offcopic a bit - I personally would spend 100 dollars for new LBT dvd if it was the only way to see LBT 14, if it costed more, like 150 I would work hard to gain some more money and buy it anyway
How much would you guys pay for it? Wha's the maximum price would you pay to see another LBT movie?

As far as I am concerned LBT has for a long time no longer been dependent on the release of new movies. Many of us have built up their own Great Valleys which no movies or lack of such can take away. The page is just another indicator for facts which we have known for a long time. But does that make the air taste any different? Does the sky have a different color all of a sudden? And does anyone have to abandon all interest and enthusiasm for the land before time just because there won't be another LBT 13 style movie?
I admit I would have enjoyed another season of the TV series with some more explanations for the various unexplained parts. But perhaps even these unexplained parts are a blessing. Gaps left for us to fill.

Personally I don't see how "gaps left for us to fill" is a "blessing".

I'm sure if they made LBT XIV it WOULDN'T be in the same stile, in case you haven't noticed, all sequels are different, some more(LBT 5,7) some less, and they just wouldn't make some boredom with new sequel, trust me, even LBT 13 had something new and special, even though it's least favorite sequel of most of us

I agree, it's rather a curse, they left LBT uncompleted

It may depend on the personal view, but due to the fact that there are so many obvious stories left to be told there is a lot left for us to tell when it comes to us continuing LBT here on this board.
My main points are just that the news implied through the disappearing of this webpage weren't really any actual "news" and that as far as I am concerned I don't need any further movies to remain a land before time fan and remain active on this board. I do hope for others to share this sentiment as it would not only be better for the GOF, but most likely also better for the individual compared to a spirit of grieving and abandoning enthusiasm.

I agree Malte279 , it won't stop us from being fans, it's just that LBT didn't really have a proper ending, which is for example LBT 14 could be of all of them being teenagers, and the last scene of is would be all of them being adults with their own children, who are eager for adventures as great as their parents were, but instead of making final sequel or final season in TV series)which wouldn't cost them much) they just completely screwed up(sorry) with LBT, kids who love it and all of us fans
