Foodstuff could be eaten and would increase your stamina as a consequence. Perhaps there might be a quest which, if solved, would open up a new part of the map and which would require some quest item to be given to some NPC.
But there will be nothing comparable to human currency and economic thinking here as neither can be found to any significant extend in LBT.
