having those is spectacular! I collect American coins, and I've witnessed online some amazing things, know the Morgan Dollar? There are auctions every once in a while for the concepts made of the Morgan Quarter, Nickel, Dime, and Half, and they're things I wish I had the money to buy...

Did you study the history around the minting and such of the coins you have?

I had a morgan dollar once, in my opinion its one of the best of the American coinage. You can get some rather cheap for $15 or so dollars if you look around hard enough.

there are loads of books that help you determin a possible date for these coins. one such method is knowing how to read the text on the coins, these texts with give the name of the emperor in which they were minted to, and often following the name is a roman numeral, this is the number of years the emperor has served so far.

Coin reading can be educational once you get the hang of it ^^

for those of you who share a fascination of ancient coins and history, here's a good community to look into:

scroll all the way to the bottom to see some rather fine and beautiful examples of ancient coinage  :)

Similar over here. I collected quarters when I was in Minnesota in 2002. This year a good friend (possibly brother in law to be ;)) is in America and promised to look out for those quarters I'm still missing. I might be able to finish my collection next year or so (hoping to get across the big pond once again by that time). I also have one of those 1976 200 years anniversary quarters. And I used to have one of those cent coins with the inscription "One cent" on it rather than the Lincoln memorial (Wheat cent), but somehow I must have lost that one :(

...Yeah, I've got some coins like that...  Nothing too ancient like what you've got, Aves, but still, halfway interesting...

Yeah, I had one of those "one cent" pennies too...  I might still have it somewhere...  I only have just so many of the state quarters, though...  ...Meh...
"And the Most High said unto Moses, Ahayah-Asher-Ahayah.  And he said, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, Ahayah hath sent me unto you...  This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations."

1953-2011...  One day, mother, I shall see you again...

I know my brother collects the US state coins, but I'm not sure how up-to-date he is now on his collection.  We were excited when the Arizona state coin was finally minted.

I guess my only coin collection are of some of the European coins I had before they changed to Euros.  You think the old coins will go up in value?

They might, but only very slowly. So many people (myself included ;)) have a set of the old coins left that the government officially encouraged people to give up those collections and swap the old currency for Euros :P:
I have two 1000 Reichsmark bills from 1910, but they are of very little worth unfortunately.

That is a start.  Do you have any questions for folks here?  I'd guess getting modern money from other countries is easier then some would think.
