Personally, I like them both.  I don't descriminate Star Wars or Star Trek in any way.  Why would a Star Trek fan bash a Star Wars fan and vise versa?!   If Star Wars Fans bash Star Trek fans back that doesn't make them any more intelligent.  SO WHAT'S THE POINT?!

Because each fanbase is insistant that their obsession is better.

Personally, I'm not that much into "Star Trek", unles its "Star Trek: The NExt Generation", and that's mostly because of Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, and Brent Spiner. I was into "Star Wars", but the prequels and the "Star Wars Christmas Special" forever put me off the series.

Hmm, does anyone see that both WierdRaptor's opinion on Star Wars and F-14's opinion on Star Trek have one thing in common?  F-14 used to be in to Star Trek and WierdRaptor used to be in to Star Wars.

Three cheers for Cyberlizard!  :)
I'm absolutely with you on that (hoping that this absolute doesn't make me a Sith ).
I suppose I'm a bit more into Star Wars than into Star Treck, but when I get the chance I watch Star Treck and I'm very fond of most of what I've seen there. The rivalry among Star Wars fans and Treckies (is there any term similar to Treckies for Star Wars fans?) is probably similar to that among fans of different baseball-, soccer-, whatever sport teams. Only that in case of the movies the one doesn't suffer directly from the other ones success (at least not as directly as in case of two teams playing against each other). Therefore dislike one of the two merely for liking the other seems rather odd to me.

You said it. I normally don't care if someone prefers SW over ST and vice vcersa as long as they, at least, have something like personal taste backing it up, and not just being competative just for the sake of it.

The reason why I like both Star Wars and Star Trek are because I'm a hardcore Science Fiction fan and no science fiction movie or game I play outweighs another.

I like both Star wars and Star Trek, but place them on different ends of the same spectrum. Star Wars happened in the (mythical) distant past while Star Trek happens in the (again mythical) future.
