I think there would be a chance Ruby could, or at the very least, further improve his character post-LBTIII (or post-tv series.) If we're talking Hyp as he appeared at the beginning of LBTIII, then I imagine there would be some hurdles to overcome, but they may be able to manage.

Man this thread was an absolute rollercoaster to read through. I'm absolutely creasing, especially when we got to shipping forum members and emojis. But I do also feel like I need to go and look at many, many pictures of cute kittens. 

But I am in a crack ship mood, so I'll revive it anyway. 

Littlefoot and Tall Stepper's sister might work... but then how old when she when Saro first heard their story? Is she even still alive? Was she ever alive? 

Sharptooth and Chomper's mom... So that means Sharptooth will be Chomper's step-dad... that could cause some major issues between him and Littlefoot.
