Man, if there is one company that can make a franchise go out on a high note, it's the team of Disney & Pixar.

I just got back from seeing Toy Story 3, and I am stunned.  I am completely surprised how they took such a simple thing, in this case a toy, and made one of the best Trilogies I have ever seen, and the finale to it all, was nothing short of spectacular.

I'm not sure what I can say to ensure that I don't spoil it.  I guess I'll just say this...

If you're going to see only one movie this year, I highly recommend this one!

Yes, I find it to be THAT good. :)

I saw it and it was excellent. LBT was never at this level of storytelling, even in the original film. to keep it up for 3 films is a great accomplishment

No offense to any one that likes toy story, but I don't see what is so good about it. The animation style, just seems "wierd" to me, I've never watched it, but I can tell by trailers if I am going to watch a movie or not. If you'd ask me I'd said either Ice Age or Lion King would be the best trilogies of movies.

Lion King never had a 3, it was more an interquel that only highlighted how great the original Lion King was. and Ice Age is not a trilogy, they're majking a 4th film..

I know, I just call them that since there currently is only three. I'll call Ice Age a quadrilogy once Continental Drift comes up.

Toy story 3 has to be one of the most depressing movies I've seen in a long time. Every single effort the toys make to reach their goal gets thrown back into their face. I won't spoil anything, but the second to last scene was completely unnecessary. The ending ends with a hat's off, but not an accomplishment of our heroes original intentions. And when I say "depressing," I don't mean how you feel while watching it. I mean the realization after the credits roll of how hard it really was for the main characters. I remember talking to my friend the night I saw it, who thought it was just a fantastic movie, and when we talked about the plot and characters reactions he began to feel a bit different about it.

This is an extremely unusual film for pixar to make. I've been a fan of theirs since the beginning, and I thought their best project was Up, which was nothing like I originally thought it was going to be. It started off sad, then worked it's way up to wondrous, then cute, thrilling, then the character has to start all over again. With toy story 3, it is only consistently dark throughout the entire movie, excluding the beginning and the end. The only time when I felt like things were changing in mood, was when, spoiler alert, woody attempts to escape the daycare on his own.

I, still, don't know how to feel about this film. I wouldn't call it great, maybe just a bit shy of average. Everyone else I know really liked this film, so I guess it means something special to some people.

I recommend you watch the movies. Toy Story is an excellent series of movies. Instead of saying "I don't know what's good about it" why don't you actually sit down and watch it? If you watch the movies, you would be able to see for yourself why people think it's good. Give the movies a real chance.

With The Lion King, the first movie was good, but the sequels didn't live up to the original. The second movie had plotholes, and the third movie wasn't even a sequel but a retelling of the first movie, and was one of the worst Disney movies I've seen. No offense.

While I like Ice Age, I don't regard it as the best trilogy I've seen.

If anyone's interested, here's a review of the movie MovieBob posted (don't worry there's no real spoilers): http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie...809-Toy-Story-3

If not for Toy Story, Ice Age would not exist  ;) . And do you have any idea how long they take to work on those stories instead of tossing them out every other year? There's twelve years between the space of the second story and the third. They probably started working on it during/in the middle of the production of say, Ratatouille or Cars. There's A TON of effort in them.

I watched this with my boyfriend on the opening weekend. I brought my Jessie doll and was greatly amused when the concessions guy said "Enjoy Toy Story 3". Parts of the ending reminded me of The Brave Little Toaster...and had me getting squeamish. I LOVED the beginning of the movie :wow . Considering how I had scene the first two recently, it was a blast. I was thinking "Say goodbye to the wife and tater tots" right about the time that Mrs. Potato Head showed up as One-Eyed Betty (XD) and the LGMs showed up.

And Spanish Buzz is adorable  :lol . "My desert flower!" I just loved how he was showing up Woody trying to impress Jessie, who was already his girlfriend before he lost his memory. Their coupling when Buzz went spanish really hit my "Squeeee X3 !" button. And in all honesty, I want to ship Rex and Trixy. Supah geeks!

How? They aren't even made by the same companies or people?

Because Toy Story was literally the father of Cgi movies. And the reason the animation style seems "weird" nowadays is because the first two Toy Storys were made in the mid and late 90's. Back then we didn't have the technology to make CG movies like we do now.

Well, maybe more like Luxo Jr. (Heh heh heh X3 ), but in full-length, Toy Story was the very first of its kind, just like Snow White was the very first full-length animated movie...with vocals to boot. Dreamworks did, however, release the second full length CGI movie, Antz, but that went into production LONG after A Bug's Life did, and practically rushed it to place it before ABL... <_< (It could have been a bit better if they had just spent more time on it and put a ton more differences between it and ABL).

Because it was the first of its kind, you can expect the animation to look strange, but I don't really see what strangeness you're talking about. It's just like the 3D movie deal. Movies are told by their story and characters, NOT their quality of animation (although, it does help sometimes). But now that CGI movies are rampant (:anger ), the quality is way, way, way better than it was back when they really were "unique".

yes, in much the way that the LOTR set the standard for fantasy movies over the past decade, Toy story set the standard for CGI animated films. before Toy Story , you had hand drawn animated films, and Disney was the best at doing that, in fact from the Little Mermaid to the Lion King, Disney had had a string of successful films going back to 1989. Toy Story changed all that.

I especially liked the "Spanish Buzz" twist.  To be honest, to me, the Buzz & Jessie relationship that appeared at the end of the second movie sort of came out of left field.  I mean, NO ONE expected that at the time.  Seriously, who expected him to fall for a Cowgirl at the time.  I sure didn't.  That's probably one of the most unique relationships I've ever seen.

To me, when you put a relationship into a movie, it becomes a big thing.  However, to really "wow" me with it, you have to do something unique.  That's why I was disappointed with the idea of the Ken & Barbie relationship.  I mean, these two toys have been modeled as a couple for YEARS!  Years and years!  Everyone saw it coming.  To me, the relationship as the names we've known meant nothing.  However, it was the couple itself, their character, that really surprised me.

Here's Ken, a guy who turns out to be a complete jerk, and he's willing to change his ways just for this girl that EVERYONE in the audience expected him to fall for.  They showed one of the biggest tests of love, which is working through your problems and showing that the love is there, regardless of what wrong you have done. (Save for probably killing someone that the other cared about.) They took that and they did it well.  I'm surprised actually, I really am. I didn't like the couple itself, but I loved what they did with it.

Also, I was a little saddened that Bo Peep wasn't around.  Sure, all she did was flirt with Woody, but at least they were a good couple.

The villain in this is what surprised me most.  You never see it coming.  It's a toy you would NEVER expect to be a villain, even with me telling you this.  I was really shocked when I found out who the villain in this one was.  I just never saw it coming.

Seriously, this is a series that is FULL of surprises.  You really should give it a chance, ScratteLover.

Shrek 4 was pretty good, but not as good as the first or second, better than the third though. As for whether or not it was better than Toy Story 3, I'd have to see TS3 first. But I wouldn't be surprised if I end up liking Toy Story 3 more. I tend to like Pixar movies more than Dreamworks movies.
