Does 4 or 5 have more nostalgia?

Most would say 4.

But, while 4 did have that creepy Land of Mists and Dil and Ichy, the 5th one had threat of starvation, separation of the Gang forever, a tsunami, a shark, Chomper (yes, he was scary), a Sharp Beak, Chomper's parents, and, of course, the three-claw Sharptooth (who rivaled the original guy).

In IV, other than Dil and Ichy, not much else threatened the Gang.

In V, we have to fear for their safety constantly. (i..e., after Chomper almost attacked them, we did have to wonder if Cera would turn out to be right), we had to wonder if his parents would find the Gang, if the Gang would be stuck on the Island for the rest of their lives.

The only other danger lurking over the Gang in IV, other than Dil and Ichy, was the threat to Grandpa Longneck's survival.

Well hmm... they have their own things about them really. Five stands out more but when I think about the friendship and innocence of LBT I think of the friendships on LBT 4 and some of the accompanying songs like "It Takes All Sorts"

So I think LBT 4 is better in that respect, the adventure of Littlefoot and Ali to the mysterious beyond where they gain friends along the way, learn to love the world and cherish their friendships. BUuuuuut LBT 5 I think had a strong message about protecting friendships and uh lots of the story and 'feel' is more memorable I guess? I dunno? Lol bah I never choose favorites...

Actually, come to think of it, the background music is probably another reason I like 4 a lot despite the story being somewhat 'simple'

The LBT movie I always remembered best was 5. The songs were easier to sing along to-- I remember singing "Friends for Dinner" when I had friends over for dinner haha. Big Water is catchy too, for younger kids. LBT 4 was a little more deep and sad when you think about how Grandpa Longneck was dying and Littlefoot was separated from his friends for most of the movie. This isn't a bad thing at all, I loved LBT 4, but going on nostalgia, I think 5 was better that way.
4 and 5 are two of my three favorite LBT movies.

LBT 4 has a sort of magic to it that I really like. Also I really like Ali

LBT 5 is also a good movie but there are some things that I don't like a lot and the plot just isn't as epic and deep as the plot of LBT 4.

Well we can know that something is 'critically' better or worse but whether one adheres to others' opinions on the same subject is another matter... although the elements of piece of media that is critiqued usually are quite integral parts. Opinions in the end are personal though.

For example, I thought Interstellar was a pretty good movie and my brother really dislikes it. At the same time, he and I both grew up with the same amount of exposure to LBT sequels and yet they did not continue to interest him. Yet at the same time he showed me a song recently that we equally love. Meh, what a person PERSONALLY takes out of something is the most important of all to any work. It's why one person can shrug past a painting and another will pay millions, or why really any form of creative expression or activity period is derived from what a person has experienced themselves in those subjects along with--

The one I remember most (other than the original) from when I was a kid was LBT 5. It's not that the story was necessarily "better," but it had more action/adventure than LBT 4. Which is really strange because when you think about it, there's tons of action/adventure in LBT 4. But LBT 5 just really stood out to me more. Whenever I thought back to my old LBT movies that I used to have, I would always remember LBT 5. I thought LBT 4 was rather drawn out and didn't have enough surprising things happen. The cave scene seemed to go on FOREVER and it just wasn't interesting after a while. I definitely think LBT 4 could have been better. It's still one of my favorite sequels, but it had a different "feeling" than the rest of the movies to me. It's weird. I can't really describe it.

Well, this is a weirdly-titled thread, but I'll humor it. Personally, I think LBT 4 is more nostalgic, because I like Ali and the storyline was very interesting. Of course, it's not addressed (if I can remember), but I especially felt that Littlefoot didn't want to lose another family member just yet and that gave more of an impact for me, as someone who loved the first film.

LBT 4 for me. As I enjoyed it a lot more then 5 as a kid and still do.

LBT 5 just has far too much stuff in it that Annoys me. Which I've already pointed out another topics so won't rant on about it again.

How do you even define nostalgia in these sequels? For me, personally, nostalgia refers to my memories I have from the time of my childhood. By this definition, neither of the two movies are any more nostalgic than the other. LBT 8 would stand out of the sequels...

I believe this topic’s title is poorly written. Either that or each person has had a different interpretation of its purpose.

As for nostalgia within the sequels' universe, LBT 5 has more of it mostly because of Chomper, the first recurring character from a previous sequel to make a comeback, and also due to several themes of this movie mirroring those of the original film.

From a personal stand point, LBT 4 is the most nostalgic sequel for me. It was the one that got me hooked on The Land Before Time, and possibly the one that I’ve rewatched more often during my childhood.

The Mysterious Island. The likelihood of the whole Gang of Five being separated forever was possible due to famine and high tensions between Grand Pa Longneck and Mr. Threehorn (anyone notice their feuding mirrors Little Foot's and Cera's).

LBT 5 100x. Second favorite sequel.

There are things that make LBT 4 boring, I didn't like Ichy and Dil at all. I prefer savage non-talking sharpteeth than them. Who Needs You is a pretty bad song too. It's still the best Roy Allen Smith sequel, but I liked the bulk of Grosvenor's better.

I agree that the Mysterious Island is better because of a better atmosphere and stronger animation. I thought there parts in the fourth film where the animation seems rather lazy and unable to recite the scene's intensity, for example I found Cera's struggle in the river against Ichy and Dil not being as intense as it could have been. Also, the songs were mostly lackluster. The Journey Through the Mists had some great scenes, particularly the ending, but the plot wasn't told as well as in the following three sequels.

The fifth film, on the other hand, had a truly captivating plot, great songs and it added a new dimension to the LBT in telling more about sharpteeth. I really like all of three of the songs and I just felt that the writing itself was better, as was the voice acting. To be honest, I didn't find the climax fight interesting at all but the film had already made its point. The Mysterious Island is my favorite sequel alongside the Stone of Cold Fire and Secret of the Saurus Rock.
