Some of the best songs I've heard in a long time have come from animated films that I've either rediscovered, watched again, or saw for the first time.  Name one that really impressed you.

The one I have in mind does not come from Disney.  It does not come from Bluth.  It does not come from the Speilberg/Katzenberg stable either.  The one I have in mind came from a tiny independent, long out of business: FAI Films.  They only made one animated film way back in 1992 and that was called Ferngully.  To my knowledge, this didn't get a big release at all, and it's known to those who know it exists.  This included Robin Williams before he became known as Aladdin's genie but that's another story....

The song is "A Dream Worth Keeping" performed by Sheena Easton and I'm sure if you guys heard this song, you'd agree it is one of the most sentimental, touching, and true songs to have ever been made for an animated film.

Even though the winds of change may come sweeping,
It's still a dream worth keeping,
Don't let it fade away....

Good song, right there!

My fave from an animated film would be:

"Reach for the Lights", by Steve Winwood, the end credits at the end of "Balto".
"All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you." -Gandalf

I cannot name "The one and only best", but apart from already named "If we hold on together" from LBT I found both "Circle of Life" and "Can you feel the love tonight" from Lion King very nice.

As for songs from the LBT series I'm also very fond of "No one has to be alone" of LBT 9.

My personal favorite is "When You Believe" from the Prince of Egypt sung by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

I liked "Dream Within" by Lara Fabian at the end of Final Fantasy: Spirits Within. Soulful and moving...maybe not the BEST song but I still like it

When you believe ' is a good song. How about 'beauty and the beast'?

Actually I prefer the "When You Believe" performed during the film...not the soundtrack version done with Houston and Carey.  There is just a different feel to it I guess since the image on screen just kind of goes through my head when that version is played.

Yes, Beauty and the Beast is another good, slow, dancing song. :)  Haven't head that one in a while.  Are you referring to the Angela Lansbury version, or the pop one (forgot the artists)?

A song I like is "You'll Be in my Heary" from Disney's Tarzan.  I love that movie.  It is on Toon Disney right now.  I also like the tv serries.

Phil Collins follower?  :)  The Tarzan soundtrack was pretty good overall but I didn't care for the N'Sync rendition of Trashin' the Camp.  Is the "You'll Be in My Heart" the one heard in the film, or the strict Phil Collins version?

7. After Today[A goofy Movie]
Of course! :D  To this day, this song often gets stuck in my head, and I haven't seen the movie for, must have been 7 or 8 years by now.  Haha, good call, Dash! :P:

Hmmm, best songs to come out of animation...

Ohh, I wish I could remember this song, but my Mom made off with our Fern Gully VHS tape when she moved to another city :slap (and I haven't found it on DVD yet)

I'm in agreement with many of the above songs mentioned, but here's my list, grouped by music style:

Slower, Sentimental songs
1) If We Hold On Together (The LBT)
2) A Whole New World (Aladdin)
3) Beauty and the Beast (see song title :lol)
4) No One Has To Be Alone (LBT 9)
5) Can You Feel The Love Tonight? (The Lion King)
6) You'll be In My Heart (Tarzan)

Happy, "Protagonist" or "Good times" upbeat songs
1) Peaceful Valley, End Credits (LBT 2) - this song is just catchy as heck :P:
2) Prince Ali (Aladdin)
3) One Jump Ahead (Aladdin)
4) Circle of Life (The Lion King)
5) Go the Distance (Hercules)
6) Under the Sea (The Little Mermaid)

"Antagonist" or "Trouble" songs
1) Be Prepared (The Lion King)
2) Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid)
3) Second Rate (Return of Jafar)
4) Bad Luck (LBT 6)
5) Chanson D' Ennui (LBT 9)

Other / General songs
1) Beyond the Mysterious Beyond (LBT 7) - such an interesting song to listen to.
2) The song in Fern Gully when everyone is dancing to the giant walkman :lol

I'm having trouble thinking of many good songs that fit into this category, so I'll leave it there for now.

That would be a remake of A Land of 1000 Dances.  ;)

Also, if you catch me sometime on MSN this week (next week is probably more plausable) I can send you that, and A Dream Worth Keeping.

I have a few to say.

I say If We Hold On Together, by Diana Ross, Can You Feel The Love Tonight, by Elton John, and You'll Be In My Heart, by Phil Collins.

Apart from LBT's songs, there are others I like:

A Whole New World(Aladdin)
Beauty and the Beast(same title :p)
Can You Feel the Love Tonight(TLK)
You've Got a Friend in Me(Toy Story)
When She Loved Me(Toy Story 2)
Colors of the Wind(Pocahontas)
When You Believe(The Prince of Egypt)
For Longer than Forever(Swan Princess)
One of Us(TLK2)
The song from Fox & the Hound, when Widow Tweed is saying good-bye to Todd.  I cry everytime :cry.

In addition, I love Broadway's rendition of The Lion King's soundtrack.  If ya haven't seen the show yet, it's phenomenal :yes.
