Hey,

If you want you can take a look at one of this two pages.

http://download.yousendit.com/3D8F982E2425ACEE
http://download.yousendit.com/340950311792D2AF

It¥s both the same song, but a bit different. I had watch it at youtube, and now I had play it at the piano and recordet it.

So what do you think about it?

Mfg Nimrod :)

Whoa.  Yousendit isn't too good at those super large files.  I'm getting 60kps!  Next time, try www.driveway.com.  much faster uploads and downloads and unlimited bandwidth.  No account required.  Files last 3 months!

EDIT:  and also, use a .mp3 file instead of one of those huge .wav's.  You did a great job though.  I couldn't have done it.  I've never taken any lessons.  But seriously, I did it.  That 13.4mb wav turns into a 2.42mb mp3 without loss in quality! ;)

Gee, you sure are impatient land before time lover!

This is a really beautiful performance Nimrod! :yes
I really like it. Did you play it on an original piano or a music keyboard?
It is a great interpretation of the song indeed!
It reminds me very much of how I began playing the keyboard after I happened to get my hands on a note sheet of If we hold on together.

I want tell you something

I heard this song for only two month and I asked me where I know it. I search and search, and than I knew it again. It¥s the song if we hold on together. i was sure, that I knew this song out of any film, which I had often watch, when I was a child. I searched in google and found out, that I know this song out of the film the land before time. Than I watched some clips at youtube of the land before time. I found it wonderful and I asked me, if it didn¥t  give a forum, where I could discuss about this film. Than I found that forum here. My interest to play this wonderful song (if we hold on together) grew up bigger and bigger. So I had watched a clip at youtube and played this song on my keyboard. All in one. I¥m very happy about this forum :)

Mfg Nimrod

I have a rather funny story to tell about If we hold on together myself (I don't think I ever mentioned it before). Back in 2001, at a time when my English was still very doubtful (I hadn't been on my students exchange by that time and my attempts to translate a land before time fanfiction from German to English produced results which look rather funny when I reread them today ). At that time during the camping holidays on the island of Corsica I was joining a little group of other juveniles, but they required everyone to sing a song in front of the whole group. I decided to sing "If we hold on together", but while I had very often listened to the song, I had never ever read the lyrics. So before I started to sing i listened to the song several times, tried to understand the lyrics and wrote them down on a sheet of paper. I still have that piece of paper, but sadly it is not within reach at this moment. I shall pick it up and give you my 2001 "interpretation" of the If we hold on together lyrics as soon as possible. It will be a laugh, for my understanding of English was really poor and I suppose I knew even then that the lyrics I wrote down didn't make too much sense. Luckily my audience's English wasn't any better either :lol

I know that feeling from the days when I first stumpled onto the N54 LBT forum long before the GOF was even founded.

Very nice Nimrod! :yes
Nicely played, I must say!  I like your personal touches; very nice!

Since we're all playing If We Hold On Together, maybe I'll join in :p
This is a couple of months old and I can handle it a bit better now but this is the latest video I have of me playing.  It's almost the complete song but I haven't learned the last bit yet.  I'm playing off the official sheet music which I bought online.

I know the expression is a little strange in this.  I am getting better but I know I played this too fast and "rushed".  Oh well :p

Enjoy!

To answer this question for him, he played it on some sort of electronic keyboard, one with lightweight plastic keys, it sounds like.  I played mine on an electronic keyboard as well, using my computer to generate the sound.

If you say "without sacrificing much quality" I could agree with you.  "Without loss in quality" is technically not quite right though, because going from lossless uncompressed to lossy compressed will automatially cause loss in quality.  Simple as that.  Whether it's noticeable is debateable and subject to the situation but there is always a loss in quality whenever mp3 is concerned. :P:

Wow.  Great job Action!  I was delightfully surprised when it turned out to be an AVI file.  You can play it very well!  I was also very happy you used driveway.com instead of yousendit.  I got 1.2mbps (about 1,224kps) rather than 60kps!  Thanks a lot!  The ending was...well...it was a surprise to say the least.  The sound just cut off and then you like attacked the camera.  Very funny!  Nice floor shot!

Since Action's not here, I'll save him the trouble.  You can use whichever one you want.  I prefer driveway, but whatever! ;)

I have that sheet of paper with what I interpreted the If we hold on together lyrics to mean back in 2001. This is what it says including all spelling mistakes (though I left out some words which were crossed out in favor of the words I used instead). Long blank spaces mark parts where I just couldn't figure out the word at all:
Quote
Don't lose your way with each passing day you have come so far
Don't throw it away lafty living dreams are for evening
One days are waid into start Leave your story they glory
Hold to the true in your heard If we hold on together I know our dreams
will never die dreams see you true to forever where flowers molten
for you and I
So when you wins learn how to think see can a star Hold on to the end
Valley maudlin there is a faught in wisches are dreams al away.
Words are smory somebody's prairie. Please let us   come to
stay if we hold on together I know our dreams will never die
dreams see you true to forever where flowers molten
for you and I
Then we arrive there in the dark with dreams hold on to saw
in the dark we feel the night broke my heard everylwight
if we hold on together I know our dreams will never die
dreams see you true to for ever anthies and soas can fly
the clangs will die for you an I
:lol  I truly wonder what "maudlin", "smory", "everylwight", "anthies", and "soas" mean  :lol

Don¥t lose your way, With each passing day,
You¥ve come so far, Don¥t throw it away,
Live believing, Dreams are for weaving,
Wonders are waiting to start, Liver your story,
Faith.hope and glory, Hold to the truth,
In your heart, If we hold on together,
I know our dreams will never die, Dreams see us through to forever,
Where clouds roll by, For you and I,
Soul in the wind, Must learn how to bend,
Seek out a star, Hold on to the end,
Valley, mountain, There is a fountain, Washes our tears all away,
Words are swaying Somebodys praying, Please let us come home to stay,
If we hold on together, I know our dreams will never die,
Dreams see us through to ferever, Where clouds roll by,
For you and I, When we are out there in the dark,
We¥ll dream about the sun, In the dark we¥ll feel the light,
Warm our hearts every one, If we hold on together,
I know our dreams will never die, Dreams see us through to forever,
As high as souls can fly, Where clouds roll by,
Four you and I,

Trust me Nimrod by this time I knew the lyrics already. I posted that "early interpretation of the lyrics" only for the laugh it hopefully gives to those of us blessed with a native speaker's understanding of the English language and the reassurance it may give to those non-native speakers who feel uncertain about the quality of their English.
Are you interested in the lyrics of the German and French translations of "If we hold on together" created for the land before time sing along song videos? In my opionion the German translation is a bit too sugarry, but I'm afraid it is a song very difficult to translate. My French does not suffice to comment on the French tranlation.

Here is the French version of If we hold on together and this is what they made for the German sing along song video. Hey Nimrod, do you happen to speak French? Could you translated the French version literally (without any rhymes necessary) to English or German so we could get an idea of the quality of the French translation?

Yeah, French isn¥t my nicest lesson, but I can try it. It will be a hard work :bang ^^
