Title: Introducing The LBT Fan Blog!
Post by: pokeplayer984 on April 17, 2009, 01:55:12 PM
I decided to start this a little early.  I really didn't want to wait. :)

Anyways, with the help of Blogger, I have created a Land Before Time Blog.  There, you can view the videos I have taken the time to create.  It's all for the fans. :)

To view the blog, go here:

http://thelbtfanblog.blogspot.com/ (http://thelbtfanblog.blogspot.com/)

Note that I shall be posting a new video each day until I am done.  With over 90 Videos, that's going to be over 3 months worth of work.

For now, enjoy one of the few that couldn't be posted on YouTube, Bestest Friends.

Enjoy! :)

Well, I've now added on some nice treats to the Blog.  Those who go to it can be led to the Download server that LBTlover gave me, this forum, my YouTube Channel and the little LBT RPG game that's been at work here.

That's right Action9000, once I start advertising this thing, you're gonna get quite a bit of help.  Hope you like that.

I'll start advertising tomorrow.  That's when I'll have the time, so that's when the real work will be.

For now, enjoy the links and the new video posted on there.

See ya later!

I'm sorry but I just don't think a blog is the way to go.  If you really want to set up a usable website, go with a free website hosting company.  If you haven't already seen the limitations blogger has then you will soon.  Just go make a real website before you waste hours of time on a blog that won't get you what you need.

Sorry if I sounded kinda harsh when I said "real" website, but I really don't know how else to say it.  I'm not trying to be a jerk.

The link to Action's game is next to useless, you have to be a member to view it.

LBTlover, the big thing is that I have wanted a blog of my own for quite some time.  In fact, a part of me has wanted one since before you came to this forum.  So understand that it's more of a personal thing, okay?

Also, if this isn't enough, I'll find other places.  Besides, all I need is about 1 GB total.  I've learned quite a bit about compressing, and know how to make it work.

I'm not saying that I know what I'm doing, I'm just saying that I have a plan, and I'm going to make it work. :)

EDIT:

:slap Thank you for informing me.  I'll fix it. :) (Later tonight though.  Seriously don't have time right now.  Stupid work.<_<)

Its not really something you can fix, there are parts of GOF that only members are allowed to enter, and Action's game is one of them.

Hey, pokeplayer, I understand. Some things are personal to me too. But sometimes a blog doesn't work out and it ends up shutting down...you got the memo? Not trying to be harsh or anything, but...errr...you get it, right?

I think pokeplayer gets it, LBTL really knows what he's talking about when it comes to computer related things and I'm pretty sure pokeplayer realizes that.  So if LBTL's warning wasen't enough, then pokeplayer has made up his mind.

Yay, I feel happy for contributing to the blog. Don't worry, I shall add posts regularly to each video. For that is the purpose of a blog. However, if this blog doesn't work out the way you planned it to, I would take LBTL's advice and get a free website. He makes sense.

I just replaced it with the link that goes straight to the download. (Right on the YouSendIt Page, not the GOF one.) If I'm right, that should fix it. :)

Also, I get where LBTlover is coming from, but I know next to nothing about making a website.  I'm an individual that needs something SUPER easy.  Besides that, I've wanted a blog for a LONG time, but had no idea how to go along with it.  Now, I have some knowledge to pull it off.  Blogger gave me something simple, not complex.

Besides, if Blogger doesn't work, I'll go somewhere else.  There are other ones out there that are just as simple and Free as well.  Who knows what they can offer? :)

I'll allow the movies in low quality (250mb or less per movie) if Universal for sure shuts down LBT.  Until then though I don't want to take any potential money away from Universal Studios because they might make more LBT movies.

Considering the movies, I did a little experiment with LBT 2 and found that I can make it as low as 22.07 MB with a Bit rate at 38 kbps and 15 frames per second.  Of course, this makes them rather terrible in the end.  So bad, I don't know if anyone would actually watch them. :D

Oh, and I used Windows Movie Maker for that. :P:

Seriously though, if you think 250 MB for a movie is bad, make it as small as I did, then you'll really see what bad is.

Post by: landbeforetimelover on April 23, 2009, 07:47:39 AM
I've been able to make an entire LBT movie 140mb without making it too terrible.  It's about the same quality as the LBT TV episodes.  But I've also tried making LBT 10 into 10mb.  Dear god!  It looked like a blob! :lol

EDIT:  But even if I do allow these videos on my server, I will be the one to upload and convert them.  In addition, I would not allow them to be downloaded.  Streaming only.  And for those savvy web masters out there who are thinking they'll just look at my code and find the URL to download the movies, think again. :p Unless you know how to hack, you're not getting 'em.  I'm going to encrypt the movies in a folder, then embed the password in reverse binary into the flv file itself.  In English, this means that ONLY the player itself will be able to access the restricted folder.  Getting past reverse binary is tricky.  Pretty much there would be a way to find out the password to the encrypted folder, but it'd be a lot off work.  If you can hack enough to find out how, more power to ya.  This is just to prevent the massive spread of downloads.  And besides, if you know enough to hack the server and get access to these files, you also know another much easier way to get the LBT movies in full quality. :p
