I just have to say, browsing through the fanart section your thread helped to inspire me to try drawing dinos again, so thank you! These are all absolutely stunning! I love the backgrounds especially. The animation is amazing, too! Can't wait to see more from you!
Ah that’s so great to hear! I love the way you draw dinos, and I’m looking forward to seeing more! Will keep an eye on your fanart thread  :Mo

Oh hey DarkWolf good to see you back! I've missed seeing your amazing work around here, but I suppose the benefit is that you're able to dump all of this on us at once! :PLoofah

I'm pretty sure I mentioned it on DA but the finished animation looks great!  :chompysmile

Thank you!! I’m glad to be back!

The animation! Finally! :lol

Gosh, it looks so great like... really close to movie quality if I dare say so. Thank you so so much for seeing this random project through to the very end!  :spikeblush

I've gotta say that each time you post pictures I feel like the style is slightly different but nonetheless consistently amazing. I love this type of painting style that doesn't even try to be realistic yet somehow ends up looking really realistic. Instead of trying to do smooth transitions, you just use a few different shades of the same colour to take into account the play of light and shadow. Really wonderful art, wish I could draw like you!  :duckyOK

You know, I don't really do art anymore but every once in a while I still feel like trying something (like for a prompt challenge  :^^spike). Doing things digitally is kinda easier than the traditional way and I've been looking for a reliable digital software for ages. Could you recommend Clip Studio Paint for a beginner like me? I think I once grabbed a demo version of it but ended up getting lost because I didn't really understand how most of its functions work. Might need a tutorial of sorts lol.  :sducky

My current tool of the trade is ArtRage which emulates the feeling of drawing traditionally quite well, however it's very limited in terms of functionality.

Thank you! It was good to finally finish the animation, it did take some time hahaha. I’ve been trying out different background styles as well, and I’m glad the painting looks good  :smile

As far as the program goes, I highly recommend Clip Studio! I couldn’t recommend it more, it’s extremely versatile for the price. It’s actually on sale right now, and the Pro version is just $25. (EX is more expensive - $110, but the main difference between the two is animation features. If you don’t do animation, you don’t really need EX.) They do these 50% sales pretty regularly, too, so this won’t be the last opportunity to get it cheap. I actually used to use art rage as well, and the brushes are nice but it’s pretty limited and the layers work kind of weird. I basically live in Clip Studio now haha

Thanks so much everyone, it's nice to be back!

May I ask what software/app you used to animate this?

(i just wondering, i use firealpaca

I use Clip Studio Paint for just about everything now! It's a really powerful program, and the EX version has a lot of great animation tools.

Thanks so much everyone!!! I ended up disappearing from here far longer than I meant to due to some life issues, but I'm happy to see that the forum is still active! Will try to drop by more often! For now, I have a few things to share, including five more finished commission pieces for Rhombus (Finder, Ponder, Path, Leap, and Sternclaw!) and a completely finished version of the ducky / petrie animation! (I'll post the animation in a second comment below this one due to file size restrictions)
I'm going to keep up with messages from now on, so if anyone still needs something from me feel free to send a new message about it!

She scrambled away as quickly as her awkward limbs would take her, but when she looked back over her shoulder it was like she hadn't moved at all- the sharptooth still loomed as large as ever. A quiet whimper escaped her beak. She had a feeling that she would find out whether or not this was really a dream the moment its horrible teeth closed down on her. She redoubled her effort, flailing wildly as she tore across the ground, still too slow.

She glanced back again, and... she had seen its mouth move, but instead of the guttural sharptooth roar she had been expecting, she understood its words as well as any other flattooth. And, even more chilling, she realized that she recognized its voice. The distraction made balancing in her new form even more difficult, and she tumbled to the ground as one of her ungainly feet snagged on a rock. Dazed by a solid knock to the face, it took her a minute to sit up, and turn to face the sharptooth. It was staring back at her.

She blinked up at it in confusion. "Littlefoot?" Her voice still felt so small, and so weak. This just had to be a dream.

Thanks for the wonderful comments! I have (finally) finished another commission for Rhombus, this time of Spotter and Soar. Fliers have always been a challenge for me, but I had fun drawing these two :smile
Hopefully with this unexpected break from school I'll be able to contribute more in the future!

Cera winced as feathers came loose in her strange clawed grasp. She let them go, the soft and delicate things drifting slowly to the ground. A sleep-story. It had to be. She had woken up into another sleep-story. Numb, she shuffled on shaking legs back to her nest, stumbling at the unfamiliar bipedal gait. There was her dad, and Tria, and Tricia. They looked... enormous. Even Tricia's sleeping form seemed to tower over her. Visions of large feet bearing down on her tiny body flashed through her mind- she squeaked involuntarily, throwing her winged arms over her head as she fled from the giants, every step an agonizing challenge.

Her path was erratic, with no clear destination in mind as long as it took her far away. She would keep running blindly into the night until she woke up, and left this terrible nightmare in the land of dreams where it belonged. Lifting her head out of a daze she noticed familiar landmarks passing by, and she realized with a chill of horror where she was headed: Littlefoot's nest. Some kind of return to habit had set her feet back on a path she must have taken on a hundred night-time jaunts, back when things had been simpler. Revulsion twisted her stomach. No, Littlefoot absolutely couldn't see her like this. She'd rather die. And the possibility was not too far off, she soon discovered. As she turned to change course, a hulking figure eclipsed her field of vision, its silhouette familiar in a way that sent a jolt of adrenaline coursing through her.

"Sh... Shuh..." Her beak was trembling, the word stuck in her throat. "Sharptooth!" It finally came out as little more than a pathetic squeak. She whirled around, scampering to put as much distance between herself and the beast as possible.

Yeah, that could work! It would give them a chance to start exploring the conflict they have a bit further, and see how things have developed with this turn of events haha.

Sorry I missed the vote for this, but I agree that the mother flyer idea is the most straightforward!

Hey all! I've been working on the Ducky/Petrie animation a little bit more, here's the newest update!
Thanks for all the great comments, unfortunately this semester has been really hard and I haven't had the time to stop by too often. Now that I'm on break, hopefully I'll be around a bit more :smile

« on: September 29, 2019, 08:07:21 PM »
Hey all! Sorry these reasons are so brief, I completely forgot about this and have some other work due tonight x.x

Fanart award: It’s gotta be Flathead770! Flathead has deserved to win this award for a long time, and I’m constantly impressed by his improvement and the amount of art that he creates.

Feedback award: Unfortunately I have not been active enough to know who to vote for here, so SKIP

Friendly Member Award: Another SKIP for me for the same reason, I’ll be sure to vote for the appreciated member!

Proactive Award: Mumbling! She has started so many interesting projects this year, and is constantly following up to make sure they get completed!

Role Play Gamer: Rhombus! He has been very active in making sure people know whose turn to post it is, and in keeping old RPs alive in general.

I think that's fine! I found I've been able to greatly improve my writing through RPing! As long as he understands the rules and etiquette of RPs, I don't think his level of writing skill will be a problem.
