They had better not underplay the fact he was a Christian or try to make him look like a dumb-dumb because of it.

he was a minister, Presbyterian, I believe.  a for mr Rogers neighborhood, it was about awaking kids to imagination, and showing them ways to help people and learn about the world. Quite similar to Sesame Street, I watched both shows religiously growing up.
Winner of these:

Considering that the documentary is to honor Fred Rogers, why would they make him look stupid?

Liberal Hollywood loves to look down on Christianity.

I have never seen any Hollywood movie that openly mocked any religion. In fact, I've seen more films that frowned upon non-believers than religious folk (which again I've never seen).

Plus again, considering that Fred Rogers was a well loved man and this documentary is made in honor him, it would be in poor taste to mock him for being religious. I have my doubts that the filmakers would attempt or even allow a part of who he was to be demonized/treated like it was a mistake.

I hope you're right.

If they do, there would be a lot of backlash. Both because there's loads of christians in the US, and because Fred Rogers was an icon among many, regardless of religious beliefs or lack thereof. The people making the documentary would be asking for the scorpion's sting if they made Fred Rogers look dumb.

But I have heard that it's preview in a film festival was well received with positive ratings, so that might be an indication that they didn't go that route.

As for how much they would dedicate to explaining Roger's faith, we'll find out when the movie releases nationwide. Considering it was a part of who he was, I imagine some time would be dedicated to it.

I came across two articles about this movie:

https://www.vox.com/summer-movies/2018/6/8/17433842/morgan-neville-interview-wont-you-be-my-neighbor-fred-rogers-neighborhood-christian

To put it simply, with the way he showed kindness and empathy for everyone, we could definitely use a guy like Fred Rogers in this day and age.
