Title: Wreck-it Ralph
Post by: pokeplayer984 on June 07, 2012, 05:02:08 PM
I don't know how many lawsuits this thing went through just for the trailer alone.

Wreck-it Ralph (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GHDQHVkYq4g)

Obviously Disney, you have the money, make us gamers proud. :)

It's entirely possible that they got permission long before making any material. I'm looking forward to this!

I remember seeing the trailer for this when I went to see Amazing Spider-Man. My opinions can be summarized by two words I couldn't help but pipe up when I saw one little detail in the trailer:

"WHOOOO!! BOWSER!!!"

This got a laugh from the audience and I felt pretty good, especially since I was (ironically) wearing my Bowser shirt at the time!

Well, the movie is now out and I'll be going to see it this upcoming Monday.

From reviews, I can tell you now to just DROP any over-hyped expectations you may have.  Simply, it's not as great as it's made out to be.  Still great but not Toy Story Great. (Then again, what do you expect there?)

Despite it all, I will still go see it.  If just for the huge nostalgia trip I'll get from it.

See ya later! :)

I got a question. If you haven't even seen Wreck-It Ralph yet, how do you know it's "not as good as it's made out to be"?

That part of the post is actually just what I got from critics.  Simply, THEY are saying that "it's great but not as great as it's made out to be".

I knew I should've better worded that. :slap

Ah okay. Makes more sense now. I did watch Moviebob's review and he does say he doesn't feel it's as good as Toy Story, but he still says it's a really good movie in its own right.

I don't know how I'll feel about the movie as I haven't seen it yet. I plan on seeing it today with my youngest sister. She's been wanting to see it as well. We'll be going today at 4:10 PM eastern time.

I really don't care what critics say.  I've liked plenty of movies that have been panned by mainstream critics (Treasure Planet, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Titan A.E, Pearl Harbor).

Likewise, I've hated plenty of movies that have been applauded by mainstream critics (The Social Network, Avatar, Saving Private Ryan...)

So no, I don't take critics seriously.  I watch movies and from my own opinion.

I have no expectations set on this movie. All I want is good old fashioned Pixar fun. With a premise like this I'm going to guess that it can at least deliver on that.

Then you might be disappointed, WeirdRaptor. This is Disney only. No Pixar.

I just go back from seeing the movie. It's really good. Lots of action, funny moments, twists and turns. My sister really liked it too.

Is it Pixar good? I'd say that's up to the viewers to decide. I thought it was good enough to compete with Pixar.

I saw this on Friday. I really had no expectations going in, but I enjoyed this movie a lot. I'm not into video games, but I was able to understand most of the in-jokes.  :DD

One thing that I don't understand, and I don't want to step on any toes here, but why does everybody treat Toy Story as the highest pillar of quality in animated films? I mean I liked Toy Story, but it is not my favorite movie ever.  :confused

I've heard the movie has a Pixar type feel to it.  Not sure if it does or if anyone from pixar worked on it or not.  Sounds like it's a good but not great movie fun to watch.

Wow!  Just wow!  I just got back from the movie and I'm still freaking out about how good it was!  It seemed to hit all of the right buttons with me!

It's really a must see.  Whether or not you are a gamer, it's one you should check out.

Oh, and BTW, there's a certain popular among gamers code that makes a cameo appearance.  Keep an eye out for it. ;)

Seriously, go see it.  You won't regret it. :)

Just saw it finally. Other than there being less game hopping that I'd have liked, it was still an excellent film. I really like Ralph, Felix, the action girl, and Penelope. I knew that that Turbo guy would be making another appearance, but I didn't foresee how.

I totally forgot to post here, went to see it with the other guys :)

This is an adorable movie... It's very high up the animated movies shelf for me. In CGI animation it must be at least as good as Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc. I'm in love with the characters. Overall, a great movie, though I would have loved to see some more characters from games :)

^^Speaking of having more characters, I did hear that they wanted to include Mario, but Disney only got the rights to use Bowser because they didn't fork over enough money to Nintendo.

Oh well!  It was great seeing the King of the Koopas at least. :)

I remember seeing it way back when it first came out in theaters.  And I'm definitely going to buy the DVD!  I have to admit, if there was only one movie I could watch for the rest of my life, it would have to be Wreck-It Ralph.  That was the first time the credits to a movie made me cry.  Because I didn't want it to end, and I didn't want to leave the theater.  All that nostalgia in the credits really struck my heart.   :p

Why buy it when you download it for free. So I will not buy it I will use a free movie website to watch it. And I also loved the movie. It was amazing and very good. I loved the story line in it I loved the graphics the characters and all the cameo's as well. Very enjoyable. I even loved the Japanese Pop song at the end as well. 10/10 from me.

Okay, I think we're far enough along to discuss this part of the movie...

"She's programmed with the most tragic backstory ever."

Do you agree that her backstory really is the most tragic ever?

Tell me what you think.  I'll give my answer later.  I have work to head to.

Not the most tragic, but definitely very sad... I wouldn't want to be surprised the very day I'm not prepared to fight :P: Especially on such a special day. But hey, it could always be worse, I guess.

I loved Wreck-It Ralph! So much so that I had to breach an international border to go and see it (thanks again Mumbling! ;) :lol ). I know the movie has its own story but as a gamer (and an old one at that) I couldn't resist seeing it for all the subtle little gaming references in there. I remembered belly laughing so loud at some of the subtle jokes it was actually embarrassing seeing as the cinema was decked out with kids and their parents who were probably too far either side of the demographic to pick up on them. Wreck-It Ralph isn't out of the UK cinemas yet but it's gonna be a must grab for me when it's out on home release. Next to Finding Nemo, I reckon this is up there as my fav Pixar movie! :D :D :D

So, here's my answer.  No!  She does not have the most tragic backstory ever.  That honor belongs to Mr. Bruce Wayne in my eyes.

Not just having his parents killed in front of him, but also add in the story of "A Death in the Family" Comic and the gritty-mature "The Dark Knight Rises" of when you see who the final boss is, and... yeah!  Tragic and messed up to the extreme.

Still, Calhoun, I think her backstory would make Top 10 in the area of tragic. :(

So yeah, not the most tragic, but definitely in the top 10.

Okay, here is my big disappointment.  You know of how when a movie comes out on DVD/Blu-ray, it comes with extra stuff?  Well, Disney REALLY shorthands you if you get the DVD instead of the Blu-ray of this movie.  Want proof?

Blu-ray extras - Paperman Short, Bit by Bit: Creating the Worlds of Wreck-it Ralph, Disney Intermission: The Gamer's Guide to Wreck-it Ralph, Deleted & Alternate Scenes, Video Game Commercials (Original Commercials of Fix-it Felix Jr., Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush.)

DVD extras - Paperman Short

Yeah!  See what I mean?  You don't get those Behind-the-Scene Specials or Deleted Scenes with the DVD!  Disney wants you to fork over the extra cash for all that extra stuff you love! :p

However, to me, it just feels wrong to get this on DVD.  It MUST be in HD!  It MUST have those bonus features!  It MUST be the one movie that makes me get a Blu-ray Player.

Yep!  It's just that good that tomorrow I go to my local Best Buy for a Blu-ray Player. :)

Congrats Ralph!  You were the one that finally broke me to buying a Blu-ray, and I don't feel ashamed to admit it. :D

Teeny nitpick; it's not a Pixar movie, this is Disney itself.  ;)

This is a great movie. I'll admit that I didn't have really high expectations when I went to see this, but it surprised me with how much heart it has.

But about the home release; to be honest, it really doesn't feel like there are many extras on the Blu-ray either. I was hoping for way more interviews with the voice talent, animators, etc., but what is there seems too short to really get in depth.  <_<

I don't want to start something, but the reason I buy movies is because, to me, it shows support for the work in question. It basically says that I like this movie so much that I am willing to pay for it. And it seems that Disney is trying to get better.

My nephews absolutely LOVE this movie.  Heck, when I was watching it with them today they actually danced to the song at the end of the credits.  They just love everything about it.

It's well worth the money in my book.  I'm not ashamed of having the Blu-ray version. :)

Well, I was never really interested in watching this movie but ended up watching it anyway lately  :p And boy do I regret I didn't do so sooner...

Despite not getting most of the gaming references, this movie really grew on me. The first 30 minutes were okay but as soon as Vanellope enters the screen, the movie just becomes awesome  ^^spike She's a real cutie, yet she's extremely naughty and also quite cunning. Definitely the main reason why I like the movie so much though the overall story idea with Ralph not wanting to be bad anymore was really well done too.

Might actually end up drawing Vanellope, she's so adorable  ^^spike

Considering what the song "Shut Up and Drive" is ACTUALLY about, I'm still surprised to this day that Disney put the song into this movie.  Granted, they heavily censored it and all, but still.
