"The last thing I could remember was when the night sky was lit so brightly by the Aurora Borealis, which was unusual, even in Nome.  There were rumors it was even been seen far south, where it has never gone before.  I was with my family, watching as the unthinkable happened...  The sky itself cracked open like broken glass...  Family...  Jenna...!  JENNA!!"

Balto's eyes popped open and his head was up in a flash, his heart racing.  How long was he out?  He starting looking around to answer the second, more worrying question.  But as he scanned his surroundings, he came to the third question...  "Where am I?"  The snowy mountainous landscape was unfamiliar to him.  Dark and foreboding...

A sudden but light sneeze not far from him attracted his attention to a small mound of snow.  A shivering mound of snow.  Maybe...  Balto had little trouble getting to his feet and walked over, but as he neared the thing, he knew right away it was too small to be Jenna.  But, he might as well check anyway.  He stood next to it and began brushing the snow away from the creature with his paw, and his eyes widened with surprise...

The little creature, curled up tightly to stay warm, was hairless and long-necked, almost like a strange reptile.  He had never seen something like this in his entire life, and was momentarily unsure what to do next.  But a closer look showed the critter is young, like a cub, and is practically immobile & and freezing to death...

Snow began to fall around them, and Balto searched around to see a nearby mountain, with a slab of hard rock sticking out of its base.  The wolf-dog did not hesitate to gently lift the creature onto his back and carried it to the shelter.  Once placed back down out of the snow, it curled up again and shivered, even sniffled.  Balto curled up around him, hopeful to keep it warm as they would have to wait out the snow...

Elsa was enjoying her time off.  She was reading a book & had just put it down a few minutes ago to close her eyes for a short bit before going back to reading when she saw what looked like a bright flash of light and felt a sort of breeze.

"Rex?" She asked, thinking maybe he had returned from his golf game.   She opened her eyes and looked around.

Seeing she was in a totally different place filled her with some fear, where was she.  How had she gotten here, wherever here was.   Was it some trick or plan of Screweyes.  She looked around.

She felt a sort breeze blowing and seeing what she saw in the sky what she saw.  She was apprehensive but that seemed unnatural and could well be at the center of or behind whatever it was that brought her here.  She flew into the air, staying not to far from the ground, and started to head off in the direction of the thing she saw in the sky.

The morning came softly at the Fitzgibbon's Farm. In a small house made from a cinder block that was located in the garden, a mother field mouse was beginning to awaken. As she got out of bed and fastened a red cape around her neck.

Mrs. Brisby walked out onto the roof of the her home, overlooking the garden. What immediately caught her attention were the strange lights in the sky - An aurora, Justin said it was called.

Mrs. Brisby had never seen anything so beautiful since that time she and Mr. Ages were 3 feet underground and they stumbled upon a set of Christmas lights the Rats of NIMH stole from Farmer Fitzgibbon.

Elsewhere, near a line of barren trees, another soul stirred from the snow.  A little mouse woke with a start, breathing heavily and waiting for his heartbeat to settle.  Sitting up on his knees, he held his arms and shivered, as snowfall began around him.  He looked around nervously at the foreboding surroundings, and it took him a while to get to his feet and hurry to one of the closest trees.  There was nothing to hide within, but the exposed roots provide some protection from the wind.

As he sat down and shivered, it dawned on him that somehow he was very far from home in New York City, and if he is in fact alone, he might not be able to return.  He also began to sob as he tries to keep warm...

Petrie felt cold, shivering he woke up, wondering why it was cold since it wasn't the cold time for a long time.

Sitting up he rubbed his eyes and looked around, jumping up at what he saw.  He wasn't anywhere in the Great Valley that he knew of.  Where could he be.  Had he slept flown like he had seen Guido do?  He had never done so before.

He took to the air to look around to see if he could recognize where he was.
