Good question... I think its because he's in a peaceful serene forest location, relaxing, being away from the busy turmoils of life.

It reminds me of some of the juvenile book illustrations I use to read a long time ago.

Maybe he is satisfied for the reason.  Sitting in a park and relaxing.

I'm contemplating my next piece. There's so many ideas afloat, and I need to chose wisely.

Also, just for the hell of it, I sent an e-mail to Disney, to see what's required for me to possibly become an illustrator for them... if school is strictly required, it may take some time for me to ever reach my goal to be an animated film illustrator...

Oy, I feel the road for that path goes ever on and on...

Oh, not entirely... it seems

according to a good friend of mine who has his connections, there are some disney artists who pretty much backdoored their way into the studio..

they worked for the park, and all they did was ask about art jobs...they didn't need schooling, they already taught themselves. And there they are now, doing something I thought I could never get at...

Walt even hired an art teacher to manage the animation department.

Amazing what one could find out from such small soarces.

so....my first step... move to Orlando, get a job working at the park... work on my art projects over break times and out in the open for all to see.. and eventually move up in the company.

I have the skills, I just need to follow through with the initial plan =)

If its something you're going to try, I'd say you've taught yourself quite a lot and have the ability to draw in a style that would conform with Disney (or any children's books).

And I'm still improving. My next piece I'll be combining oil paint with colored pencil, or I'll experiment with it first. for the sake of the fine detail that pencils can produce.

I do have some bit of news. Nothing revolutionary but still news, nonetheless. My Uncle Billy knows a Disney artist who does murals for the park. He's been trying to get in touch with this guy for the past few months concerning my talents... its old news, but I'm starting to check in on it more often due to my raised desire to work for such a major media corporation.

I would love to work for Disney, whether it be in the park, or the studio, and as long as I can contribute my talents.

It would sure as hell beat factory work.

And I will keep everyone updated

No need to hurry.  Get more important things done and do the artwork when you have time and can be satisfied with it before posting it here.  You'll likely be more pleased with it then if you rush.

Rushed? No, my friend. These pieces are coming normally at a pace I'm totally able to work with.

my only common problem seems to be the random spurts of procrastination that comes every now and then.. and the more I get done, the more my family seems to be supportive of my desire to seek a career in art and studio, which is a mega plus and it totally encourages me to keep going.

I think you should keep going.  Certain areas would fit with your style and preferences very well.  Good luck.
