Title: Artists you follow and watch
Post by: Petrie. on August 08, 2007, 09:21:33 PM
With the internet many otherwise unnoticed artists can showcase their talents to the world.  Who do you follow/watch and genuinely enjoy what talent they share with the world?

- Aun (http://aun61.deviantart.com/)
- Coshi-Dragonite (for the cartoon anime lover) (http://coshi-dragonite.deviantart.com/)
- Jaff-Fox (http://jaff-fox.deviantart.com/)
- TaniDaReal (http://www.tanidareal.com/)
- Christy Grandjean (freelance artist) (http://www.goldenwolfen.com/)
- Munkart (former Disney animator) (http://www.chipndaleonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=575)

Hmm. Well I do tend to go to IsisMasshiro's art site a lot to check for updates, as well as Syke's webcomic page to check for updates there.

As for online comics I am reading Faux Pas (http://www.ozfoxes.com/fauxpas.htm) regularly (you Adam brought me to this one).
Other than that I keep checking the new pictures of Nicholas Trudgian (http://www.oldgloryprints.com/Trudgian.htm), an artist best known for his airplane pictures (I guess I could name a few members of the GOF who would really like his pictures too ;)) whom I got to know in 1996.
Time and again I'm checking out new pictures by other historical artists such as Mort K¸nstler (http://www.mortkunstler.com/) and Don Troiani (http://www.oldgloryprints.com/troiani.htm). However, most of the time I find pictures by searching for the motives rather than the artists.

Those are impressive airplane pics by that person, and I too can think of a couple who might want to check him out.

And appart from being a great artist Nicholas Trudgian is a very kind person too. I was 12 years old when I met him on an art exhibition and showed him an airplane picture I had made. He and I wrote letters to each other for some time and it is especially kind of him to bother answering the letters of a 12 year old kid whose English was very poor at that time. He gave me some very valuable hints and encouragement to continue painting. I'm very much obligued to him.

That's even better yet that you can actually meet an artist you've followed. :D

An artist I follow would probably be Brett Booth (http://demonpuppy.deviantart.com). I first saw his work on The Dinosauricon (http://dino.lm.com/) (Not sure the site is actually worth checking out any more). One of his works inspired me.

This is what he made. (http://dino.lm.com/images/display.php?id=140)

And this is what I made. (http://knightraptor.deviantart.com/art/Grandpa-Rex-14063445)

Please don't use that drawing of mine to judge how my art is, seriously >.> It's an old picture from when I first started drawing with a mouse. It's BAD.

Also, those two rexes I drew have become characters of mine.

I also follow this (http://dinomaniac.deviantart.com/) guy for his astounding dino art.

Another artist to be named is James Gurney. It is the art of his books and his love for the detail that makes his Dinotopia books so appealing (while the movies are poor when compared to the books). A new Gurney book titled "Journey to Chandara" is to be released these days.
