"Old Threehorn" pictures

Hi!
I did make quite a few drawings for my LBT story "Old Threehorns" many of which I have never shown to anyone so far. I meant to withhold the pictures until the story was finished. However, I don't expect the story to be read anyway (too longwinded) and think it would be a pity for those drawings and aquarelles to catch dust without ever being seen by anyone. There are some of the pictures which I had brought up before (long ago) in other threads, but for the sake of completeness I will bring up those once again too. Those pictures which show concrete scenes from the story will come along with excerpts from the respective part of the story. Note that most of the pictures are years old.
First of all here are two drafts (the first of which is incomplete) for a cover of the story (I think I have some day brought up those before, but I think it is long ago).
I did this first draft in November 2003. As for the faces of the dinosaurs at the top of the cover, they are all supposed to be grownups and I certainly did mess up proportions of the frills and horns (the threehorn on the left is supposed to be Tops). The Styracosaurus on the top is a central character of the story with the (very original

) name "Styrax". He is the leader of a herd of threehorns. The Torosuaurus to his right (also originally named Torus) is kind of his fugleman and a particularly large and strong specimen of his kind. The two threehorns below (also far from being in proportion) are Cora (Cera's mother) and Tritus (a best friend of Tops who was supposed to have died in the Pterano incident):

Here is a different version of the cover. The "smaller version of Cera" on the lower left is "Ava" a younger sister of Cera (and one of two sisters who appear in the story).

You did well in the drawing and coloring. Sounds like you had quite cast of characters and a well developed story in mind.

The main plot of the story focuses on a herd of threehorns arriving the the Great Valley, a herd that includes several of Cera's long lost relatives.
There are many subplots though involving Pterano as well as several other characters from earlier movies. Don't want to tell too many spoilers. One thing I must point out is that the story is in conflice with every sequel since LBT 10 (it was started in 2002 so I was sort of distraught at the appearing of those sequels which made the story impossible) :cry2

Okay, here are the first pictures of the actual story (note that they are ancient).
Here is a pencil sketch...

That aquarelle dates from May 14th 2003. I dreadfully undersized Pterano's feet which are particularly large in the movie. If he looks a bit less plump than he did in LBT 7, this is in accordance with my story though. Here is a little excerpt from the scene depicted here (torn somewhat out of context):

“What about you Petrie?” asked Littlefoot gently. “Me no have a father... me thinks”, answered Petrie. “Nobody out there to be heard or felt by Petrie.”
“What about Pter...”, began Cera, but Petrie interrupted her: “Pterano no is dead neither! Me no hear or feel him. But sometimes Petrie can imagine him very good”, said Petrie and looked up. A shadow laid over them suddenly. They had been so absorbed in their thoughts that they hadn’t paid any attention to their surroundings. They looked up jerky and the next moment a big figure landed in front of them and folded his large wings.
He had changed very much. He had lost weight, but had grown stronger. His arms that supported the wings had become more muscular. He looked very exhausted and there were rings around his eyes. He was covered all over with dust. But despite all this changes they recognized him immediately. He had returned to the Great Valley.
It was Petrie’s uncle Pterano.

Here are a few more rough sketches which I did back then. In the lower right corner you see two sketches of the same scene as above (from two different angles), while on the left there is a scene from the chapter that follows that scene, titled "Pterano's unheard warning":

Interesting looking drawings. Pterano looks evil, to me at least, in the sketch and colored picture. It could be the way he's drawn though.

Here are the next pictures. There are a couple of sketches for characters in the story.
Here are two different versions of the character Styrax. I settled for the left version in the other pictures:

Here are three more head studies for the characters Styrax, Torus, and Sheera:

And another one for the same characters (with a somewhat different looking version of Styrax):

Finally here is a sketch I made of the head of Cera's older sister Ira. I reckon this is what Cera might look like when she is getting a bit older (growing her other horns etc.). Ira still looks very young in that drawing though and I think the ratio between head and frill is not quite correct:
