I was looking at the deleted story boards and noticed how much scarier Sharptooth was before. I remember reading that one of the other things they did besides delete scenes was fixing Sharptooth so it wasn't too scary for kids.
In the story boards he even has bigger teeth, claws, and feet. I wonder if they even got a chance to animate the original.
Do you guys think the change was good idea?
-
welll...
Sharptooth still scares me. His movie design, with teeth, eyes, gums, is acceptable.
I rechecked storyboards, so I didn't notice very much difference.
-
The T-Rex didn't scare me at all I really loved the design of it. It was very well drawn in the 1988 movie.
-
I don't see too much difference, to be honest. I've always loved Sharptooth's design and it works in the film very well. I don't think it needs changing but I would have loved to see all of his planned scenes. Why did you have to do it, Spielberg...
-
I guess it was to violent for a kids movie and it would have been more than a G rating so they had to edit out those parts.
-
better question: why they didn't make two versions? One's for theatres, and one's director's cut. What would you say, mr. Spielberg Lucas, and poor Don Bluth?
And where the hell are that cut colored scenes NOW?
And why some people like saint Mark Pudleiner decided to show storyboards but don't show them all?
-
Probably gone dude tons of the footage is gone and can't be found again
-
Does anyone have a link to those original storyboards? I'd like to check out that original design for myself and see how scary it is.
-
I have Pudleiner's site in my browser bookmarks since then, so here:

Now watch these storyboards and imagine full colored and animated scene of sharptooth's attack. :3
also:
I NEED MORE STORYBOARDS!!!

I NEED MORE STORYBOARDS!!!
Me too!!! ^^spike
-
Likewise. I'd absolutely love to see this and the other cut sharptooth scenes complete but :bang Still, there might be a chance that we'll see more storyboards in the future. These weren't published too long ago and maybe, just maybe, some of the original crew still have some material.
-
Yes same here but I don't think we will since it's been almost 30 years and no news on them.
-
Now that entire sequence about Sharptooth's first attack makes A WHOLE LOT more sense.
-
If there was a way to contact with these people like Pudleiner and get answer...
-
Yeah it does and the drawings are very good
-
?
-
The storyboard of the sharptooth where very good
-
On topic here...Sharptooth in the storyboards seems to have crocodile-like skin on his back. He DOES look a bit different.
-
If he ws crocodile-like... Then he DEFINITELY could swim with his short arms! :exactly
:lol funny, I read it long time ago in article.
-
Wow... I looked at the storyboard art and it was quite suspenseful to see Sharptooth
pursuing Littlefoot and Cera- the clenched teeth of Sharptooth showed how persistent and vicious he was, and I held my breath as Littlefoot and Cera struggled to escape.

He will back!!! Some stupid stone could knock him out, he could lose his mind of this and hunger, but he could swim out and walk away! *imagines there was deleted scene of this*
