Title: jassy’s Fanart
Post by: jassy on June 30, 2018, 02:59:02 AM
Ahhh, I finally managed to draw something worth posting!! This is my shot at redesigning my rainbow face OCs. It took me two days of boood, sweat and tears, but I think it was worth it. Since the actual picture is too big to post on here and I need to sleep, I’ll just link it for now and try re-uploading an appropriately sized version in the morning because I’m tired.  :p

O_O

I demand you post here your previous drawings that "was not worth posting". Because this one is beyond awesome!

I agree with Sneak, this is really good and I wouldn't mind seeing more of your drawings! And hey, we happen to have an OC drawing part of the fanart prompt going, want to join in using this as your submission?

As for the drawing itself I enjoy the colourful and abstract background and the feathered version of the rainbow faces looks pretty cool. I don't know if it's just me but do the neck and head look a little too long and big though? Anyways, great job on this drawing and I hope to see more from you in the future! :DD

Thank you both!! I’ll try to post other pieces that I’ve made as well as post newer ones, hopefully. And I’d love to join the prompt challenge! The only reason I haven’t is because of my year long art block :p

I will admit though that the proportions with the head and the neck are slightly skewed, so no, it’s not just you. Proportions were never my strong suit. Thank you!!

Well, what do you know? Not only is jassy a capable writer but a dedicated artist as well :wow

I personally prefer other painting styles than the one you used but your skill and technique can't be denied! That's a really cool picture of your OCs, please show us more of your art, yep yep yep :DD

Great job, jassy! There certainly are things that make this drawing very impressive, most of all the extremely smooth feel to it and the atmospheric background! Also, the eyes and beaks on both characters are spot-on and make the meeting here feel really emotional. However, as Flathead suggested, the anatomy isn't the best part of the drawing. Especially the torsos of the two look weird as a whole but other than that, this is one of the best "first drawings" I've seen here! :)littlefoot

Thank you, everyone! Sorry that it took me forever to get back to you guys,,

Anyway, as you all said you wanted to see, here’s my most recent drawing of my OCs (one day I’ll draw something canon I swear) Iman (left) and Allen (right). This one took me about three days. Cut me some slack for the background, it was done at two in the morning ;;

Hmm... Not a fan of this kind of drawing penship ... Kind of irritates me in my opinion. Just doesn't belong for the LBT art style.  :sducky

I can see where you’re coming from, since I know that some people prefer the original LBT art style. This was just me experimenting with semi-realism. I do appreciate your honesty, though, so thank you!

Thank you, DarkWolf! In hindsight, I could have finished this later today, but I’d been working on it so long that I just wanted to be done with it :p

I have to agree with DarkWolf, the characters are quite unique and are well done. I also like the background much more in this one then the last. It feels a lot more like a real background over the previous one

Good job!

One thing I do like are your designs for them. They feel like LBT characters or species.

Your style certainly is a nice one and I like the way you manage to make your characters' emotions look quite genuine even if the way you draw them isn't too LBT-like. I, too, like the background due to their colors and the way they work with the overall image. The anatomies are still quite weird though, especially with the wings. Yet, thanks for sharing this picture and well done with it!

been a while since i posted here, mainly because i’ve been unmotivated and busy :p However, I’m slowly trying to get back into the swing of things, so here’s a picture of Indigo and Blue, two characters from one of my stories! I tried a different approach with the shading on this one, and it’s a lot less time consuming and it looks a lot better, so I think I’ll stick with it!

Pictured here is Indigo thinking about what a hypocrite her brother is as he chews her out, lol

It's great to see some art about Across the Seasons. :DD Indigo is quite well drawn here and her expression looks extremely genuine at Blue's antics and the way you drew her here is probably your best stuff thus far. However, Blue looks really weird and his head doesn't look to be quite right (maybe his snout is too long or thin?). But all in all, this drawing is quite cool and I look forward to seeing more drawings from this story or in general. :)

Post by: Flathead770 on August 26, 2018, 11:49:45 PM
I quite like the more simple art style and shading as it matches more closely to LBT. I agree with Sovereign that the head on the one in the background looks a bit off. It's probably a mixture of snout being too long and thin, as Sovereign mentioned, but I think its lower jaw also sticks out a bit more then it should (comparing it to the one in closer to the foreground, its lower jaw looks correct). It's still a good drawing and it's great to see you continue drawing!  :)littlefoot

Those dinos looks impressive! :D This scene and colors really gives some... great feeling. :) Good job!

Blue one's head looks a little bigger than it should be and a little longer for my eyes, and for some reason right leg (that is closer to us) is more thin than left one, but I think it should be opposite. Because of that, legs looks too thin.

Would like to see more from you!

Oh I love the combination of texture and color in this drawing.  Despite the muted color of the Baryonyx somewhat blending into the background, the fiery eyes draws our attention to the imposing subject of this image.  The correct proportions and pose of the dinosaur further adds to the effect of the image itself.  This is easily, in my opinion, your best drawing yet.  :)
Title: Re: jassy’s Fanart

Overall I would say this is improved over your previous drawing. I especially like it's face, with it's eye being exceptionally good. The shading is also quite good. One thing I would say is that its legs look a bit off. Its right leg seems to get pretty narrow around the kneecap (at least that's what it looks like to me) and I don't know how to explain it, but there's a wave like pattern on its left leg? Drawing legs from a front perspective can be tough sometimes, but it's more of a minor point in the overall drawing.

Good job once again! Keep it up!  :)littlefoot

There's a really nice contrast between the shadows that give it a pop-out style (helped by the blurred background). Eye catchy.

Very nice picture here! The colors look really cool and I quite like the feeling of the background. Perhaps the best-looking detail of all here is her eye as it really looks great! This time the anatomy is mostly correct, too, save for her arms where I think the contrast between her shoulders and lower arms is a bit too large. But other than that, great job as this is your best drawing yet! :DD

Thanks for your feedback, guys! I’m glad you all liked it, as I was pretty proud of the outcome  :lol

And guess who’s actually going to try posting here regularly?  I was already making a bunch of art for Across The Seasons, and figured I might as well continue while I’m still hot, so here’s Nimble caught in a storm and realizing she has no idea where she is. I was thinking of submitting this as an entry for the August fanart prompt, but I’m not sure if it would qualify?? Idk, let me know what you guys think! (also i kinda messed up on her legs, I have no idea what happened there,,,  :p )

It's great to see a drawing of Nimble as well. Her expression is again really well done and the backgrounds just keep getting better. I really like your coloring as it creates a great atmosphere for your art. Even then, I have to agree that the legs look a bit worrying and her tail isn't the best aspect of the drawing either. Still, keep it up! These last two drawings are a massive step forward from your first ones! :)littlefoot

I really like this piece! :OhYou

The thicker lines and distinct color scheme make him look like he came out of a comic book... at least that's the style that I'm getting from this! Nice job with this, I can't do art digitally or traditionally so I always admire people who can!

I agree that these drawings are quite cool. :^^spike All three expressions are quite adorable and I especially like his curiosity in the first picture and his smile in the second one. It turned out really good! Except for little things it is perfect! His (frontally seen) right foot looks a little odd. But this is hardly noticeable, at least to me. The focus is on the head, which looks good.
The two lower drawings are also well done!

I have to say, your artwork is very impressive. Not only is it in the spirit of the Land Before Time films, but the expressions are realistic, I'm a particular fan of how you color and shade, and the image really pops out at me as if it could walk off in that very instant. Well done.  :yes

Title: Re: jassy’s Fanart

Ah the all the bluish grey colours work very well in the picture and the anatomy here is the best so far with no real issues. As for clouds, I have no idea either (and it's really intimidating drawing traditionally) but they look pretty good here! I think an issue with the clouds on the right is that they look like they're lower then all of the other clouds instead of looking like they're further into the background as they should be getting smaller the further out they are.

The biggest thing I notice however is that she seems to be sticking her hands into a wall of water instead of a pool, which is shown by how the water line on her arm is practically perpendicular with the ripple lines also appearing almost circular, which also gives the impression that her arms are perpendicular with the water plane. (I hope that makes sense. I always tend to think mathematical when drawing)

The ripples are done really well though and the reflections off of the grass is a nice detail. Great job once again!  :)littlefoot

Another nice one, jassy! Again, I love the feeling of the picture and the character looks quite cool too! However, I have to agree with Flathead that the pond's perspective isn't perfect and it also looks like to me like her tail isn't positioned quite correctly. Other than that, nice job and keep these drawings coming! :^^spike

Really cool!
Mo's curious look is fantastic!
I especially like the underwater terrain! The light reflections are very nice to look at!

Mo's body seems a little too short to me, but that could also be because of the perspective.

A very beautiful picture! Thanks for it!

I agree with Levente on Mo's expression and the look of the underwater world but it is true that his body looks far too small here. But the overall look of the drawing is really sweet so good job as usual. :)
Title: Re: jassy’s Fanart

Same with the others, there are two styles of water I typically see. One is bright, pastel-like bright blue underwater ala Little Mermaid and the other is the muted, dark blue that symbolizes the murky depths and true scope of the waves, so I'm going to have to concur after that analysis and state that I love the color palette for the scene.

Oh, and Mo sticks out because of his bright colors but I think that's the point. :P

Ah very nice. I feel like the characters are getting better and better and the background is nice and simple (I think the clouds look better then before as well. As far as proportions, I think the only thing that looks off here is that the tail looks a little thin (and almost becomes paper thin about 3/4 of the way). Also it seems that her right arm is missing? Other then that Nimble is looking great!

One last thing I want to mention is with the background itself. The horizon line should always be straight (unless it's so high up the curvature of the Earth would be noticeable). If you look on the right hand side the water level is lower then on the left.

Anyways, great job once again! :DD
Title: Re: jassy’s Fanart
Post by: LeventeII on October 04, 2018, 12:24:54 PM
I really like the style!

I especially like the water, the reflection makes it look beautiful.
As Flathead770 has already mentioned, is this odd horizon intended? In my opinion, the effect it creates is great! Together with the water and the land, it reminds me of the Earth of what it looks like as a planet. The colors match it.

I also find the shadows beautiful. The clouds therefore seem to be round. The hills on the side are also rounded off by it.

That' s about the background.

To be honest, I like Nimble more here than in the last picture. I think that's more because of the pose than to the drawing technique. Both are good, but if I had to decide for the better one, I would choose the newer one.
The missing right hand doesn't really bother me. I also noticed it, but I try to imagine that it is hidden by the left hand. Maybe it helps to hint at it a little so that it doesn't seem to be missing.

Apart from that, I have to say that this picture is my personal favorite!   :)

I'm looking forward to more!

I agree that the overall look of these drawings is a major improvement since the last ones. Your backgrounds look quite cool and they create a pretty nice environment in your pictures. I especially love the great hues in the sky in your last drawing and the whole background is truly impressive. Also, both of the characters have well-done expressions as always. However, I get the feeling both sharpteeth have a bit too small bodies and especially the last one looks a bit angular (I'm not sure if that's the right word) but otherwise, great job with these ones! :)

Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone! I’m glad you all liked the most recent ones I posted, even if they do have a few errors  :oops

Here’s another one, featuring a family of Compsognathuses (I probably spelled that completely wrong lol) barely waking up in the morning, or alternatively, ‘My dad has horrible morning breath and for some reason likes to aim it in my face every morning’  :cry

For this piece I decided to make the atmosphere a bit more relaxed and somewhat whimsical (is that even the right word) and I experimented with sparkles to try and highlight the scales so their bodies don’t just look completely flat. I hope you guys like it! :DD

The sparkles did help with depth perception! They do give it that cel-shaded look as well.

The washed-out watercolor style of the green (forest?) background really compliments the sharp lineart in the foreground. Oh, and the look of disgust I sympathize with. Nice job!

You're very welcome! I honestly don't know if I'm being to critical or negative in my feedback so it's good to know that it's not the case. :smile

Oh my. I'm gone for one weekend and there's a bunch of new drawings here! :p

Alright, for the one of Crim, it looks great with no real noticeable flaws. The neck might be a little off in some way? And maybe a distinction between the water and sky in the background would help but other then that you did a fantastic job!

Same goes with the next one. I actually don't have any criticism on this one, everything looks good in my book! (and I agree that the sparkle type effect helps with the making it look like scales). Awesome!

And for the last one, it's nice to see some canon characters in your artwork. A quick pointer is that longnecks pretty much all have their nostrils up further on their bulge in between their eyes (only ones I can think of that has nostrils like that are the tinysauruses).

Overall that's some real good improvements you've made over your last few drawings! Looks like I'll need to step up my game haha.

Nah, you’re good, lol  and thank you so much! I’m really glad you like my most recent pieces!  :smile

Here’s some more rough colored sketches, this time of my Diplodocus character whom I came up with out of the blue one day. She was part of a nest of six, and her mother left them to fend for themselves after laying the eggs (apparently sauropods are like turtles, they lay their eggs in a hole in the dirt, cover up the hole and leave, lol  :lol). Once she and her siblings hatched, they stayed in the shelter of a forest, until two of her siblings were unintentionally killed by the bopper of a clubtail. Then, a few years later another sibling was killed in a fire, leaving only her and her brother and sister. So, now in their mid teens, they live out their days in the mysterious beyond, searching for a bigger herd to join so they’ll finally be safe.

To be honest, I have no idea what to name her (I’m thinking Misty, but I’m still debating it), but now I really want to write something with her in it :p

The light-dark hue of gray are very appealing (I almost typed appalling lol :smile). It's probably the muted colors that give the Diplodocus an aura of friendliness and approach ability... at least the top one.

The bottom closeup looks like she's ready to wreck something. :sducky

Again, this is a very nice set of pictures and especially the group of hatchlings is really sweet. It has some of the best and smoothest colors and expressions I've seen from you and the whole layout is just adorable and it could easily be your best picture thus far. The two latter ones are colored sketches but they still prove your ability to replicate a multitude of different emotions, most notably with the Diplodocus poses. Excellent job, especially with the first one! :^^spike

Damn, it seems that all I have energy for lately is rough sketches. All these missed pharmacy labs are really kicking my butt  :cry But here’s another very rough (and probably filled with mistakes) sketch, this time of Misty! I decided to stick with that as the name for my Diplodocus character, as I think it fits her. Although she seems very innocent and approachable, you can never quite tell what’s on her mind. As StardustSoldier already stated, it looks amazing jassy. The facial expression was conveyed here very well, as I can feel the sorrow, regret, and betrayal that gleams from her eye and frowned mouth. The direction that Nimble looks back to tells me that he wants to go back, but yet he can't. The scars present on Nimble's left leg does well to represent a conflict with another Sharptooth that probably occurred earlier that led to what we see here in this caption. I'm not really sure what the background is, other than a very secluded foliage area at night time, as you can see (fireflies?) illuminate around him. It does well to blend in with the tone that was already set with this drawing and create a bigger tension of uncertainty. Awesome work, jassy! :DD

It's been a while since I've seen your other works but this one seem like a good improvement overall with proportions and the eyes look great as always! A small critique I think is that her left leg looks a little thick on the lower half?

It is nice to see you continue with drawing fanart after a pause. It's indeed very true that work or school tend to eat most of our free time as is the case with me currently. But putting that small complexity aside, I am not too familiar with your drawings in this section thus far, but I can see why people like them as you have an exceptional style in your work, which is something that should always be appreciated more as all artists cannot be exactly the same in every manner. Distinct qualities make the method stand out among hundreds of other pictures and drawings.

As ImpracticalDino already expressed, the appearance of Nimble is what one would expect after living a harsh life filled with uncertainties and it is very much evident that she has been in harm’s way more than once judging by not only her demeanor but visage as well. The claw marks on her leg only reinforce this sentiment and you can’t help but feel sympathy for this unfortunate soul. The background was also a very good addition to the picture as it makes the picture more vivid, if that is the right for it. Likewise, I have to praise the composition of her eyes as I very much find the entire proportion to be perhaps one of the best parts in this drawing. As the rest of her appearance emanates that deep sorrow smoothly, it is no doubt her eyes that tell the full story of her tragic tale.

However, some things in the picture did bug me, the most notable being that her tail seemingly just disappears at one point, which is quite flabbergasting to say the least. It would have worked a lot better in my opinion, if you had drawn the entire aspect of her tail all the way, as that small deviation is distinguishable. The shape of her head is somewhat sluggish as a result of making the rest of her figure runtish in comparison to the rest of her body. Despite those small critiques about your picture, it was predominantly a success. Thank you for sharing it with us and I’ll be sure to check out the rest of your works. I can’t wait for what you might bring us in the near future! :)

I really love this! The contrast of the fireflies against the muted background help to paint a somber picture of reflection that matches Nimble's face as she's caught in a predicament of her own. Really gives the piece a nice soothing feel overall! :)

This is a really great picture, Jassy! I just love the expression and it looks very genuine. The picture as a whole is quite stylized but it works very well here. I think the tail blending into the background looks especially cool and creates real depth to this picture. Also, the background is done quite well and it looks quite mysterious. If I have to pick something that could be improved, the way the tail comes from the body looks rather weird. But other than that, this is a good return to drawing from you! :)petrie

Oh man when you said you were working on another I didn't think it would be this quick! I know I've asked you if you wanted to join in on the prompts again (and these would've been perfect for the OC prompt) but just throwing it out there again that it would be great to see you participate again! (You can see the current prompt here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=15344.msg489560#msg489560))

Ok, back to the drawing. This one looks great as well! I like the colours in the sky and the reflection in the water for this one and Indigo looks to be drawn well too! A couple things in the background that I noticed. I think I might've mentioned this in another one of your drawings before but it looks like the horizon line is at an angle, which kinda throws me off. A few other small things could be having a bit more of a defining line between the edge of the water and the sky as well as maybe have her feet a bit more submerged in the water as it looks quite shallow. Just small things I noticed as the overall drawing is nicely done!  :)littlefoot

This drawing is a pretty big improvement over your last one. It looks a lot more refined while using the same art style as last time. There are less imperfections and less of a grainy quality as well. The background is beautiful and the use of shading on the water reflecting the sunlight was very well done. The tail does look a little weird to me, as the outline of the tail itself and the colors that border each other in the tail looks a bit irregular to me, like sometimes bulging tiny bit outward here and there. Also, I do agree with Flathead770 that the horizon is angled weirdly and that there’s not a define line between the sky and water. In fact, perhaps you can say that without the submerged feet, it would almost be the same as drawing a character in a white background without anything else in it. Although, the huge contrast of colors between the upper and bottom half of the photo would suggest that at least something is there under the Unenlagia.

Overall, I really enjoyed spending a long time looking at this drawing jassy, and I look forward to many of your creations. :smile

Now this is some good improvement from your last drawing, the amount of detail invested in this is absolutely breathtakingly detailed. The quality is more exquisite and vividness generates extra caution with making the picture as versatile as possible. The background once again increases the likelihood conspicuously, and I’d say it is an advancement in creating these unique but imposing features in the drawing. I must agree with ImpracticalDino about the outline of the tail, as it does look a bit clumsily drawn, and in this scenario investing more time to the small details can add so much more validity when it’s due. I couldn’t help but pay extra close attention to the other features of Indigo as well. The noticeable issue here is without a doubt once again composition of the head compared to the rest of the body, but that in all is not a big critique. I said that the background works fine, but I did find one significant detail about it, and that is how the character evidently comes across as if they are floating mid-air, even though it is highly likely that the essence in question is water, it still sticks out the most. But as you might have guessed, these were rather small inconveniences and this was once again a very successful drawing from you, jassy. You continue to impress me with your one-of-a-kind style of drawing and I will most certainly look forward to your future drawings with barely contained glee. :D

This is also a very good drawing and does many things even better than your last one. The colors look especially amazing and they create a really cool feeling into the entire scene. While the expression may not be as relatable as in the last picture, it fits the scene perfectly. I absolutely love the background and the water looks really great as well. My only problem here are the feet as they seem quite weird. But other than that, great job, Jassy! :duckyhappy

Oh man, I love this too. The red-tint of the sky was very pretty, and like many others I didn't realize it was a reflection until a split second later. The warm colors surrounding Indigo help to contrast, and even clash with the striking cool blue color of the dinosaur. Again, I really like this soft pastel style!

Ah, confession. I had to look up what genus and species a Coelophysis was.

I like just how defined Crim is. The height of the image makes it clear just how tall Crim is, and having Crim take up most of the center gives them a booming edge to the image. Having stand tall and bite a snake? in their mouth makes it clear that they're not to be trifled with.

My only critique is that I'm not actually sure when the foreground is. We still Crim standing on a small outcropping, but the lack of any parallax landmarks in the background make it unclear as to where they are. A mountain range, a hill in the desert, etc? Since the sides of the picture weren't as utilized, perhaps they could be used to define the setting?

And perhaps fittingly, Crim is complimented with a crimson dusk backdrop. Hahaha, I see what you did there. :thinking

You have been posting a lot of drawings lately and I’m very glad you have interest and time to do so, as more art is always welcome on the forum. First of all, the background in this once again works out perfectly and I’d also add that it might very may be the best one so far from your drawings, and not by a small margin. The high-quality detail in this not only in the figure itself, but on the surrounding terrain is very elegantly done. The scars on Crim portray a conflict of some sorts, and while it may not be as unpleasant as what Nimble had to go through, it does add some special features not only for the character’s appearance, but for their personality and such, which is something I have always found quite interesting, if you didn’t already pick up on that detail. I imagine that he/she is standing on a plateau of some sorts, and the posture of the character heavily points out about their ability to survive harsh circumstances. The eyes once again made me feel particularly fond of the picture, as with the first one you posted recently, it conveys the special message hidden in the big picture. For constructive criticism I have to talk about the character’s overall appearance in some parts again. I know this may start to sound heavily repetitive, but the pattern in its entirety looks a bit awkward, to speak the truth and the tail is quite prominent of low quality. Like I have said, investing more time to these small matters can significantly improve the overall quality of the drawing. If I come across as too nitpicky, then I hope you can forgive me as that is definitely not my intention at all. To end this feedback, I have to ask of you, do you simply have these already done and saved somewhere, as I find it somewhat hard to believe you would be this fast in making these drawings, but if that is so, then I have nothing but respect for your skills. I hope we can see more art from you soon as I very much enjoy viewing them myself. Thank you for sharing this with us, jassy! ;)

Thank you for sharing this with us, jassy! ;)

No worries! Any advice is most welcome, as I’m always looking for ways I can improve  :^^spike anatomy has never been my strongest suit, so I’m improve on that. And lol, I wish I had a bunch saved somewhere, otherwise I wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of coming up with ideas for more   :PAli thank you so much Anagnos!

Once again, nice job! I fear my comments are becoming repetitive but I second the others' surprise at the recent flow of your drawings. Of course, that's only a good thing especially with the current quality of your work. The expression expresses Crim's feelings very nicely and the drawing's overall look is quite well done. You could perhaps have made the hands look a bit more in line with the rest of his pose but that's a minor issue. Good work. :)

Nice job showing off the expressiveness of your drawing. Crim stands triumphantly on top of, what appears to be a rock or hill formation. I do agree with OwlsCantRead that the setting needs to be defined more, but at least the background depicting a sunset or sunrise was well executed as always. It also complements the colors of Crim's body as well, which is another positive. The scratches and claw marks on his body, plus the expression on his face tells me that he's battle hardened, but yet at the same time also tired of fighting too. As for constructive criticism, I think that the sharp teeth should be drawn a bit more consistently, although its more of a minor complaint. Also, when I first saw this picture, the entire body itself was pretty offsetting for some reason, which made me had a different initial reaction from the first two drawings, which were immediately positive. I think its due to the fact that the issues I mentioned in the previous two are more blaring in this drawing. Furthermore, the arms do seem disproportionate to each other, something that also stuck out to me. Overall, this was another great piece of art from you jassy. Unfortunately, many of the same problems will be present in these drawings as these were already made beforehand. I hope to see great improvements in the drawings you will be working on now or in the future. :)

It is honestly very surprising to hear that you indeed do one drawing/day, and for that I simply can’t put it into words by how amazing that is. Albeit it must be difficult sometimes to keep track of everything in such a short-term timespan. Nevertheless, it’s quite remarkable to see someone so invested in drawing like you. The background is once again a very nice addition to creating the beautiful setting behind Blue that adds more emotion into the overall drawing and I’m also very happy to say that you’re getting better with drawing body parts so that they don’t stick out oddly. That’s the big improvement here and it is quite evident that you’ve been practicing lately. I’m certain when I say that most of the things I’ve expressed previously come out here as well, so I don’t have anything major to discuss this time. However, I do have one small critique about Blue’s left leg and toe. It looks a bit unusual to the eye and the toe seems out of place. But other than that, very decent job from you once more, jassy. I can’t express my enthusiasm too much when I say that I will certainly look forward to any new drawings you might have done, but judging by your determination to get at least a single picture ready in one day, I’m sure we’ll be seeing more from you soon enough.  :)

I really like the overall blue tone with the water, azure sky, and blue himself. The splashes give a sense of speed as he runs along the shallow water. Overall very nice.

But I'll confess: this was my first thought was when I saw this piece (new Pokemon game spoiler):

This latest piece is surprisingly not of one of my original characters *gasp*, but of two canon characters! Surprising, I know  :OhYou  this was actually a request for somebody, of Chomper and Littlefoot just being cute together. Hope you all like it!

If one drawing a day is something you would actually do jassy, and yet produce quality drawings like these, I really commend you for that.

I'll cut to the chase and leave a quicker review this time. Blue looks amazing, the background is great, and the pastel coloring of the grass really creates an effect that Blue is constantly moving, and not a static image. That is something I really liked. No criticism from me this time.

I also like the feeling that is invoked with the background for the second drawing, as it looks like a secluded location where a parent would nurture and keep their child safe. It makes you feel peaceful and caring on the inside. Chomper looks absolutely adorable cuddling with Littlefoot, who could only look at him with very motherly eyes. Great job once again. :)

Oh man I'm falling behind on my reviews haha.

These are all really great! I think one thing you could maybe do with the ones where they have something in their mouth is to have that object squished just a little so it looks like they're putting some pressure on it. It looks good though and I like the water splashes in the Blue one as well!

Nice to also seem some more canon characters drawn by you as well! It's a really nice drawing and I suppose I'm a little bias towards liking it since Littlefoot and Chomper are my favourite haha. I think Littlefoot's nose looks a little indented on the sides but other then that it looks great!  :)littlefoot

Nothing much for me to say other than Littlefoot and Chomper are drawn in a very Bluth-like style reminiscent of the first film.

Well, let’s start this off with discussing the choice of background this time around. The surrounding habitat is assuredly functional in this scenario, and doesn’t segregate the setting at all. And while it may be a bit blurry in appearance, that is not enough to inhibit the inclusive scenery for even a brief moment. I share others enthusiasm in regarding drawings not entirely made of original characters. It is a good transition to focus on canon characters every now and then. Albeit I like the overall quality of the picture, I still feel that Littlefoot’s snout looks a bit uncanny and his tail fractionally whimsical in appearance. Furthermore, I’d also add that while Chomper’s semblance is a tad out of shape, especially if you take a careful glance of his neck area and above that, it doesn't downgrade the definitive quality. Although I managed to find some quirks in the drawing, I still conclude that it was a successful piece in the end that worked effectively. Great job with this one, jassy and keep those top-notch drawings coming!

These are two very nice pictures indeed! Blue has a pretty funny expression and the colors, as always in your stuff, looks great. I'm also extremely happy to see you finally draw canon characters as well and the shot you chose is a rather sweet one. It has great amounts of emotion and you've executed it very satisfyingly. Especially the look on Chomper's face is a great one but even then, his head seems a bit too large. Likewise, Littlefoot's face looks weird somehow but other than that, good job! It'd be nice to see even more canon drawings from you. :)

Unfortunately I do not at the moment, although I do have a picture of Blue and Indigo in the works   :Mo and Misty is a longneck so i’m not sure she’d spend much time around two biters but I’d say she’s roughly Indigo’s age, maybe a bit older!

That expression is peak Shorty, quintessentially him through most of LBT10. Lines are a little rough, but I think it actually somehow adds to the effect this time. :P

Well, wasn’t this a wonderful surprise? To see this as the first thing when I woke up this morning and decided to check the forum for new topics. First of all, it is great to see you do more drawings of the canon characters. I have no issues with OCs, but I find the canon characters to be much more intriguing to see on paper. Even though, I still hope we get to see more original character pictures from you at some point as they are quite great to look at. The background was a good choice for this sort of a drawing, as the colors don’t accidentally blend in together, avoiding a possible degradation. Like Owls, I think that the rough lines actually make the drawing look even better, giving Shorty that sort of a hardcore feeling that he showed throughout LBT10. If there is one small critique I can spot, it’s that Shorty’s neck is slightly too extended, therefore resulting in the quality to subside a tad, but not overly so. You did a pretty good job with drawing Shorty and like others, I believe you managed to nail him perfectly. :D

Well, nothing much to say other than nice job! You are one of the most dedicated people I’ve seen when it comes to making a lot of drawings, and you surely don’t disappoint. A rather simple one this time, but running short on time, it’s still a great one. I have to agree with Owls as well that the rough lines makes the drawing look better overall. No criticism from me this time, I’m satisfied. :)

Oh what the heck I missed your Shorty drawing!? Well it looks good!

For the Mila drawings it looks like you smoothed the shading on it for the new drawing. Also looks like its eye is a lot more intense. Looks like the feathers have changed colour? (though that might be because of the change of lighting between the drawings). Personally I think I like the cooler grey background with the mountains in the first drawing over the sunset but both of them are great!  :)littlefoot

Hey, I've been anticipating new art from you, Jassy. What a wonderful surprise this was. I can't say I'm that up-to-date with the character, though. It has been quite a while since I read your fanfic and I personally do not recall ever reading about this particular character. Never mind that, she (it's a girl, isn't it? :p) looks wonderful in both drawings, although I actually prefer the older version, the new one looks quite nice with the intense color and background change. The water looks also more detailed in the newer version, which I quite like. The shading on it is just amazingly detailed as well. You did well on both, Jassy. I'd love to see more from you! :)

I may have asked this already, but have you considered doing this for a living? I feel like you would do well in that department from the quality of your drawings. :D

Mmm...great art again jassy. Comparing your first drawing with your second one, I see noticeable improvements such as smoother lines and an overall cleaner appearance. As Flathead770 already stated, the eye does look more intense, more vicious in nature. Although, there are some aspects I prefer on the older picture over the newer one. For one, the shading on the former makes Mila appear more muscular, therefore much more appealing to me. The feathers are overall cooler to me as well, although that may be just a matter of color preference. Others have expressed that the background in the first picture is better, and I agree to a certain extent. While I think the second background by itself was drawn and shaded in finer, the first one just complements the palette of the dinosaur greatly.

You only started on Misty last night!? Dang, I wonder how you do this. :olittlefoot

Oops-Eeeps. There have been so many topics lately that I completely missed your earlier drawing. Anyway, Misty looks quite great and the neat blue background articulates her rather beautifully. The detail in her eyes is once more top notch quality, although the shape of her snout is a bit weird in form. I'm not much of a drawer, but the best advice I can give is not the make it excessively steep. I hope my counsel was sound to you. It is still an impressive picture. :)

Now, the second drawing is very astounding work. The marine background works well here in displaying the ever so playful swimmer in his natural habitat. Unfortunately (or fortunately in this case, however you like it) I don't have any constructive criticisms to offer this time. Wonderful job with Mo. :Mo

Now that you mention it, this drawing and many others I’ve seen on Google Images have many uncanny similarities to each other. While they’re all so lovely and majestic to gaze my eyes upon, I can’t help but be slightly bummed by the lack of variety and originality. Lovely pic of Mo. :Mo

Offtopic, I like how Mo is almost always drawn in the same pose and same undersea aquatic background based on most pics I see. It really amplifies his colorful body and juxtaposes his body with the surroundings. Colors are great, and I like the jellyfish.

Now that you mention it, this drawing and many others I’ve seen on Google Images have many uncanny similarities to each other. While they’re all so lovely and majestic to gaze my eyes upon, I can’t help but be slightly bummed by the lack of variety and originality. No, it doesn’t take away my love for this drawing in the slightest if you’re wondering.

We need more Mud Brothers and Mo-abites to make more Mo Art then. :)  :Mo

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! Glad you all liked the Mo  :Mo

yesterday I found some notes I did for an OC I made back when I first started writing LBT stories, and decided I’d try and draw her. She was supposed to be Chomper’s love interest (although maybe not anymore, who knows), but I for the life of me cannot remember what I named her a few years ago, so suggestions are very much welcome  :PCera

This looks very similar to what I once saw in DeviantArt, although I think by a different artist. LBT artists seem to draw inspiration from each other. Moving on to the topic, the drawing looks quite elegant which reflects your style that is by now quite familiar. The grey coloration goes rather well with the background, while the posture is mostly reminiscent of your other drawings. You could make the picture look a bit more spontaneous and pretentious with different patterns and character poses. But whatever works best for you. Once again, the best constructive feedback I can offer is that the snout is perhaps a tad bit steep once more, and in a way, makes the picture look a bit unusual. Since that seems to be your preferred style, I wouldn't want to incriminate you based on that. Great drawing, jassy. :)

Also, are we back to daily updates on your drawings? :p

Nothing much to say, really like your artstyle and lighting. The light blue background juxtaposes nicely with the gray. I guess one small thing is that while blurred backgrounds is your preferred style, the sharptooth stepping on a blurred rock kinda breaks immersion a little? Maybe if the rock wasn't blurred it would give a sense of depth to the image? But nice work nevertheless, I think Chomper would be very happy.

Yay, more of Nimble the unfortunate sharptooth! :Mo I'm glad to see more of her, although it is sad to see her still so down. Perhaps in the future you might grace her with at least one chance at happiness? :)

The only real critique I can give is about her leg; it looks very disproportionately out of place. By cutting the top of the leg out of the frame, it could give it a more natural outlook. If you look at the series illustration, you notice that there is a slight curve around the frame around the flank that results in the detailed appearance.

Very cool. This new art of Nimble has a more Deinonychus snout instead of crocdike snout of Velociraptor. However, the Deinonychus snout makes her more menacing, while the more crocodile snout makes he eyes larger and more expressive.

Either Nimble is sad or angry 24/7. Could she have one day where everything doesn't go to crap in her life? Or is that her character in the flesh? :p

Wait... she appears to look at her own leg in contempt... or hunger. Don't tell me she is ready to cannibalize herself to stay alive? :opetrie Regardless of her possible suicidal thoughts, she looks rather good here. And as promised, here’s a happy (albeit much younger) Nimble getting ready to go on a nighttime hunt with her sisters! Her sisters have no real plot relevancy in the story, but I did want to draw them at least once. This was back before she developed all that repressed trauma  :bestsharptooth

I’m also trying out a bit of a new art style with cleaner lines. It might take me a bit longer so there’s a chance I may not be able to post on an everyday basis anymore, but the quality of my art should increase which is all that matters  :DD

But the skin tone is different, with Nimble being bright grey and the others dark grey. Often in Dinosaur cartoons, males and females have different colors or skin tones.

I see your point, but they definitely are her sisters. Nimble’s the lightest because she’s the youngest out of them and she’s designed to look just like her father, who’s also a light gray. Honestly I just choose their colors based on what feels right, there’s not much else to it  :PCera

I'm all for taking more time for better quality art, and I think it shows with these ones. I really like the one of Nimble and her sisters!

Thanks Flathead!!  :chompysmile Glad you like it, I feel it’s definitely one of my stronger pieces  :DD

That or Nimble is merely scratching Blue’s back. :D

Judging by the look in her eyes, it’s probably the other thing  :bestsharptooth

“Love is in the air.” 💞

The timing on these drawings is almost never in my favor, as you mostly release the new one right after I've checked out for the night. No matter that, the drawing is once again quite lovely and the more distinct lines make it easier to uphold. The background colorization is nothing new, but it works every time quite nicely.

But what is Nimble's hand doing on Blue's backside? Maybe love is in the air, after all. :chompysmile

Yet again, I missed being the first one to review the next picture in line. I may have to soon start to consider staying up a little longer to lessen this burden of feedback. :bestsharptooth

Well, I could just say all of the things again and again that I've uttered in every drawing you post, but we're going to do something little different today. This time, we have Nimble and Indigo in the spotlight, and first I have to say that I thought that was Blue at first, but after a closer look I can see the difference. But, let me just say that the detail you put into Indigo is absolutely breathtaking. This is what I wish to see from you, as every little detail is perfect.

And Nimble... please try to make up your mind when it comes to love. You can't play all of them. Sooner or later you will have to decide. :PCera

How you manage to draw this fast, I have no idea, but it must have something to do with the recent situation worldwide. I'm really impressed! ;)

Yes, we finally got to see happy Nimble, and it was worth the wait. Her expression tells it all; she is very glad to be alive and nothing could be wrong in the world. I assume the other one is one of her children? The tranquil environment here is quite nicely played out. But like you said, since she's happy here, that'll mean there will be even more tragic events for her to tackle. :(

I actually started on this very late last night, and just finished it this morning. I’ve always wanted to redraw the famous ‘cherry and flyers’ scene from the first movie, as it’s one of my favorites. The  fact that that little flyer was willing to give up his cherry to someone who he felt needed it more even after fighting with his siblings for it, it’s so precious,,,  :cry

The lighting is really good on this! If I'm not wrong the original scene has a yellow hue (that permeates through much of the first LBT) but your soft blulish-purple works well.

The gentle expression on the flyer is great! The scene looks a lot from what I remember, and the curvature of the shadows give Littlefoot a jagged feel that suits his melancholic face. Great piece! :Mo

Nice scene recreation jassy. You captured the sympathetic look of the little flyer excellently and the background also looks great as well. Admittedly, Littlefoot's expression felt a little off to me, and indeed I confirmed my suspicions when I compared it to the original scene. He seemed more gloomy there than here. That's probably due to a slight difference in the way you drew his lip line, plus Littlefoot's gaze was aimed more directly at the bird in this drawing, rather than a more diagonal downward look that was shown in the original. Hopefully I wasn't too nitpicky here, because regardless I still liked the overall drawing. :)

Alright, despite my best efforts to give consistent feedback, I'm afraid that I will have to refrain from posting further comments for the time being as I simply cannot deal with having to write new input on a daily basis when I'm already busy with my other assignments.

I see you decided to go with a pretty iconic scene this time. The vibrant colors here play a big role in setting up the view, though I do believe that the film used a yellowish-orange hue instead of bluish-purple that you favored here. That's not a critique at all, but rather gratitude on my part for making this drawing feel more like you instead of someone else. The characters themselves have the same gist adopted from the film, and their expressions were mostly done correctly, except for a minor detail on Littlefoot: he doesn't exactly look sad, does he? It may be the way the figure has been drawn, especially the lip area, but the longneck doesn't appear to be as mournful as he could be. As for the flyer hatchling, the sympathy and solace it tries to provide to Littlefoot is top notch. :)

Thank you so much for all the feedback everyone! And @Anagnos  no worries about the feedback, I’ll most likely be taking it down a notch anyway now that I’m getting slowly back into writing.  :)

But looking at the drawing closer, I realized that I actually miscalculated and accidentally placed Littlefoot’s lip line a few inches too high. Whoops :oops I went ahead and fixed it up a bit since it was bothering me. But again, thank you guys!  :smile

You're good with colors and shading, so the colors an apprehensive pose (twiddling fingers, ha!) look great. He does seem a little skinny, though, but maybe it's just me - his width is a little inconsistent in the series too. :)

I do love those feathered fiends  :bestsharptooth

Thanks Owls!  :DD That pose is like, peak Guido  :PCera and I can see how he might look a little skinny here, I actually used a bunch of different references of Guido for this drawing so I feel like that’s just the result of not having one clear reference to work from.  :thudstonk

Rewatched LBT 10 today just for the nostalgia and ended up doodling Shorty and Petrie! I feel like these two would be pretty good friends  :smile

Never commented on you Guido drawing yet :p I really like the pose for him! I don't think you have to worry too much about the backgrounds since your style is to blur them out to give it a portrait style look. At least to me that makes it not so bad if some backgrounds look similar :smile

I really like the expression you gave Shorty for this one. He kinda has a half smile going on, which suits his character. One thing I should mention is that you more then likely wouldn't be able to see the darker green part of the back of his neck on both sides at the same time as it's fairly narrow compared to the rest of his neck. To get the turning look it would be better to have the darker green part rotate out of sight on the right side and then rotate into sight further down the neck on the left side. Don't forget the lighter green part as well! Looks good though!   :)petrie

Ooh, a Guido drawing! This guy doesn't get enough fanart! :)petrie I'm wondering if his wings are a little shorter than usual, but that's probably just due to mixed references, as you already mentioned. Other than that, he looks great! Typical adorkable Guido, you captured his personality to a T!

Shorty and Petrie really look great, too! I noticed the same thing about Shorty's neck coloring as Flathead did, but he's otherwise perfect, as is Petrie. It's nice to see a better side of Shorty!

Petrie and Shorty! Brillant job Jassy. I love how seamless the design and style is, it looks very similiar to the film animation style. Petrie is a fav of mine, so seeing him rendered in any medium is a joy. What I love about Shorty, other than his attitude is that he is green. The Gang of Seven lacks a character with this coloring, and I wish Shorty could be an honorary member of the Gang. :)

Thanks so much for all the nice comments, everyone! Yeah, I messed up on the coloring of Shorty’s neck, but it was too late to fix by the time I realized it.  :oops

Anyway, here’s my entry for the fanart prompt! I don’t really like how it turned out too much, but this was a hectic month and this comic was kinda rushed, so there’s my excuse.  :PCera Anyway, enjoy this comic of Nimble introducing her daughter Tula to her younger siblings. I wanted the comic to feature some canon characters, but I could not for the life of me come up with an idea. Hopefully it’ll suffice.  :bestsharptooth

Hey you made it!  :)littlefoot

Rushed or not I think it looks good! I like half-asleep expression for Tula  :PCera I guess if I look at it more closely the one thing I would point out is that Nimble's neck seems like it's a little kinked in the first frame? Might've worked better if the neck was at a less sharp of an angle maybe. Otherwise I think this looks good!  :chompysmile

I like the overall muted gray feeling this piece has, although it certainly makes Thud's green hide stand out. :thudstonk

I like how Screech arches forward menacingly, he appears as though he is prowling for prey and ready to pounce. The fact that Thud is looking back over his shoulder only makes it appear as though he's standing watch, indirectly showing the bond between the pair as they hunt. Good job Jassy. :)

ok wow i am behind

I really like Shorty's stern expression. He looks oddly introspective and contemplative for his character. Your reflective shading works wonders here as the body of water next to him and overall soft background is very alluring.

The most funny thing the comic is actually the sprawling text. The scribbling handwriting somehow adds to the raptor's expression of distaste.

Your screenshot redraws are always really spot-on. Aside from the hovering treestar, I would say the detailed dirt ground Littlefoot is playing about in is the highlight.

I'm always in awe of your ability to draw fast biters! The way you do their eyes is gorgeous!! The motion in Screech and Thud's poses is so well done, and the Pterano drawing after that looks so charismatic! You really captured his personality! Your take on Shorty, as always, is PERFECTION--it looks like it could be an official image from a DVD case or something, it's that amazing! And the Thicknose comic is hilarious! I love the "whatever" vibes from the sharptooth on the right. :lol Finally, your original movie redraw looks adorable! I was super duper very excited to find out from Owls just days ago that this was the surprise he was planning for all of us, and I couldn’t be happier with the final result. To anyone not in the know, the picture is supposed represent a trio of three friends: Stardust as Cera :cerasus, me as Guido :feelsgoodman, and Impractical as Mo :Mo.

The lighting is gorgeous, by the way. Mo leaping into the air and obscuring the sun is eerily similar to his first appearance in LBT9, and I like the pensive if relaxed pose Guido has in Cera's frill. Cera herself seems gleeful and at ease (like an eager Stardust), Mo is gleeful and hyper like Impractical, and Guido is oddly introspective as he looks above like me, so I like the personalities of who they represent in their LBT counterparts. Really like this commission piece! :TakeMoney

I admit, when I saw this I had to go to Animation Screencaps to see the corresponding scene in the film since I didn't remember it all too well, and your drawing style makes it seem like your art is an oil painting of the scene.

Your lighting and shadows makes the already colorful scene pop up and be even more vibrant. Overall, I like how striking the piece is, as it's drawn slightly differently from the original and thus stands out on its own. :petrieLOL

Whoa, I missed a lot of crazy good art here!

Honestly, the nostalgia aside, these may just be your best paintings to date, very faithful to the style of the movie in both lines and colours. The shading is on point.

This is more on a level I would expect from someone like DarkWolf91 who is probably highest in digital art skill among the fanartists here.

You have certainly grown, jassy  :duckyhappy

Also let's not forget that Shorty painting, you captured him perfectly  :lol

Thank you so much everybody!! It means the world to me that you all liked that last piece so much!  :DD

Attack on Titan took over my life for a bit but I’m back to making LBT art somewhat regularly, so here’s a drawing of everyone’s favorite traumatized raptor: Nimble!  :taunttroll

Thanks Flathead! Haven't been drawing Nimble as much lately, so I'm glad I still have the magic touch  :PLoofah

Thank you! A lot, most of the LBT OCs I post here though are from my fanfic, Across The Seasons. *shamelessly self promotes*  :taunttroll

It’s that time of the year again! You know, when I get random bursts of inspiration and draw nonstop for like a month   :bestsharptooth I tried my hand at a redraw as a little test, so I hope ya’ll like it! I had a lot of fun with it, and it was really nice getting to paint actual backgrounds again  :DD

You've gotta take a closer look to tell it's a redraw rather than the real thing.

Really impressive, Jassy!

Thanks guys! Glad ya’ll liked it  :smile I decided to redraw one of my old paintings of two Quetzalcoatlus, the original one was actually one of my first paintings I posted on the GoF! I tried to make the flyers more true to the style of the film while still making them scientifically accurate, but their anatomy is a bit weird so it was hard  :PLoofah Still, I think I’m fairly happy with it!

Your art is amazing! These look like they could be screenshots from the movies - you really nailed the style of LBT exceptionally well. One of my favorites is the raptor drawing you posted last December. The atmosphere is nice, and I like the dark ominous background.
I don't know if you're familiar with a game called The Isle, but the drawing looks like it could be fanart of that game as well - considering there are playable raptors in it, and the BG looks like a forest between Barracks and Port.

Keep up the good work! c:

Thank you both! I actually haven’t finished that piece yet, but I did work on another one, which was mostly just a funny doodle I did just for fun.  :PLoofah

I call this one “Orri, depressed flyer who games”. The title came from a convo I had with a friend, in which I was talking about my OC Orri who is from a fic I have in the works, and at some point in the conversation I misspelled gaming pc as ‘gaming oc’ which resulted in this pointless drawing.   :taunttroll
