Are you seriously kidding with me on this one?

Who here would pay that much for it?

Not me, that's for sure.

They have a torrent of that in FLAC.  I can't imagine people paying that much for it, especially when you can get it in original quality for free online.  I'll certainly never buy it and I imagine that even those who won't pirate stuff would rather just use a tape recorder by their TV when the movie's playin' than pay that ridiculous price. :P:

Hmm, I thought that was about the normal price. To be honest I never looked for it on ebay.

However, that free offer that LBTlover gave, will always be better. :)

What isn't helping is that there hasn't been a re-release of the soundtrack, like there was with other early Bluth works--Secret of NIMH and American Tail.  In those cases, the soundtrack is about $10.  This isn't the case with LBT.  When I bought my copy many years ago, I got it for $24.  It was just as out of print then as it is now, but its getting harder to find people willing to sell a copy.

The music itself is not the thing most members want, it's the item.

You can also just download the music or ask friends who have the disc, but it's not the same.

Plus my CD sounds way better than listening to the soundtrack on youtube. ;)

Anyway, I agree, even if you're not a sound nut like me, having the CD in one's collection is worth it to the right person.  I paid about $60 for my CD and can't say I regret it one bit. :D

Well I'd personally much rather have a FLAC or APE file over a CD any day. :p You can easily lose a CD and it gets scratched.  Not to mention the pain in the butt it is to have to put it in every time you want to listen to the music on it.  I agree that Youtube and even 320kps MP3's are crap quality though.  I wouldn't use anything but FLAC or APE unless something else was absolutely required (like for streaming or making music videos).  I really wish MP3's sounded better.  FLAC files take up a TON of space.  About an hour of FLAC is around 300mb.

^ Unless you have golden ears, a properly made mp3 is practically impossible to tell from the source.  Our ears aren't like our eyes...they aren't as discerning at differences.  I did a little test a while ago and posted it here...depending on the music, it can be extremely hard to tell 128kbps (VBR mind you) from a cd.  They have gotten that good.

I swear I can tell the difference between FLAC and 320kps MP3.  Not so much on my speakers, but DEFINITELY on my headphones.  Though at least 320kps MP3's don't sound like they're missing stuff, but they sound like........well.....I don't know enough about music to know why they sound different to me.  I guess they sound more muffled or something.  I don't know.

Call me a philistine, but the MP3s of the soundtrack I have have always been good enough for me.
Same as from a certain resolution up the human eye won't make any distinction anymore the human ear won't make a real difference from a certain audio quality upwards anymore either. I am not saying that there weren't any crappy quality MP3s or low quality songs on youtube, but I do not agree that the difference is always perceptible.
Of course the original soundtrack is a lovely collectible, but it is not for the audio quality that I would get it and frankly, I would not be the one to pay $100 for it.

I can PM you a test to prove that 320kbps mp3 files are overkill for most music.  I'm saying most because metal is usually the exception.  Anything else is pretty easy for mp3 to encode if you do it right.  Let me know if you want that test...I'll make one up.
