Title: Pokemon X & Y
Post by: Mumbling on January 08, 2013, 08:08:00 AM
New generation of Pokemon:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9ajuoIwKNQ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9ajuoIwKNQ)

What do you think?

For me personally, it actually looks good. I was not a fan of the 5th generation, but I'm wondering what they've got in store for us now. Might get myself a 3ds eventually for this :) The starters look okay (the fire one is a bit weird :p )

Finally!  My 3DS has been collecting dust for nearly two years and finally there's something worth playing on it.

I stopped caring for the Pokemon after the 4th generation, but what continues to draw me to the games is how each game looks different from the next.  I'm stoked that they finally ditched sprites in favor of legit 3D graphics.  What has also caught my interest is how each region is based off real-life locations and I like trying to make cultural comparisons between what goes on in the game and what there is in real life.  I chuckled a bit when I went to Mt. Aso in Japan and found the cable car and lava rock peddler, and the giant steaming crater.  Just like in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.  :lol

...Well, I don't know how I feel about the starters quite yet, but...that deer-type legendary. Wowwww

Yeah, as a Pokemon Fan, I will buy this when it comes out.  Unlike the last game though, I already know what starter I'm going to pick before I even get it.

Will wait patiently for it to come out.

Only thing that surprises me is that they have yet to run out of ideas for new Pokemon designs.  5 generations with 649 different Pokemon total.  You'd think they'd run out by now. -_-

They ran out, looking at some of them.

No offense meant :P:

Yeah, the new starters are just... Yeah... Except for Fennekin. It's cool, although hardly original. :p

New pokemon revealed, and it's an Eevee Evolution.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=playe...d&v=pse_I1klRhA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pse_I1klRhA)

Now the only questions are "what type?" and "how so you get it?".

Well, let's wait and see. :)

How do you people even play Pokemon anymore?  I got out of it when it was still the original 151.  I tried playing a newer game and there are so many different ones nowadays with weird types like steel that I wasn't any good anymore.  It was hard keeping up with all the stats and everything when there was just 151.  Now with like what...500, how are you supposed to keep up?  Not to mention all the new things they've added by now.  Keeping up with all the stats and stuff must be a full time job.

Well you know, if you get to play the games as a kid and just keep playing them when you grow into your teens, you're not missing out much.

Except for the 5th generation, no matter how hard I tried, I still hated it :p

My fiance is jazzed, she's a pokemon fanatic so the question really isn't if I'll get this game, it's when. I already know I'm going to name my Fennekin Chrome.

I've never really gotten into the pokemon games myself so I can't really say anything about the series. The fact that that there is finally fully animated battles looks pretty cool, though it might help if they have to option to turn it off to speed the game up (like in Fire Emblem). I'll have to wait and see if X & Y interest me enough to get it. Having Charizard in it would be a good start.  :lol

About time they made a panda Pokemon.  Still trying to figure out my full team, though.  However, this panda may just go on it for the heck of it. :)

Spinda was already a panda.
Oooh! I do like the panda design, though! Looks like he might be a dark/grass type.

Technically, no!  This new Pokemon looks like a panda in every way, especially with the black and white coat.  Spinda however, no!  I'm sorry, but you cannot convince me with that one.  If you look me in the eye and tell me it's a panda, I'll laugh until my lungs burst because he just looks nothing like it.  A bear of some kind, yes, but a panda?  No, it is not.
Title: Pokemon X & Y
Post by: Mumbling on May 12, 2013, 02:56:00 PM
I agree, pandas are adorable and it's good they're finally making a pokemon based fully on a panda. I'm looking forward to discovering its evolutions. Spinda was kind of like a panda, but also a bit like Teddiursa. So yeah, I'm glad to see that poke at least.

I'm wondering which of the four is supposed to be the new Rattata, Sentret, Bidoof etc... Since I assume the robin is the new Pidgey.

Also I don't think anyone posted about Mewtwo's new form. Is there anyone else disappointed that they are creating a 'form' for a perfectly fine old legendary? I'm glad they're bringing him back in, but it's unnecessary to give him forms like all those 5th gen legendaries.
Title: Pokemon X & Y
Post by: LoyfeCycleProtector on May 12, 2013, 03:28:46 PM
Spinda is a panda, even though it doesn't look a lot like one. Lots of pokemon are like that: Nidoking is technically a rabbit, for example. But yeah, this is more of a 'real' panda.

I love PokÈmon, but I will always prefer the older generations over the newer ones. I still have my old Red Version from 1999 and I still play it. :smile I used to have all of the Generation 1 and 2 games, but they stopped saving so I had to throw them away  :cry But thankfully, I found a way to play them online :p

^If I may say so, Red and Blue should always continue saving. It is just Gold, Silver and Crystal which may stop saving. This is because they were the first games to run on a battery (which is why the clock worked in-game), but nintendo didn't think things through when they put the save game on the same battery.

I see Red & Blue so many times offered on ebay "WITH NEW BATTERY, SAVES AGAIN", which is so wrong :/ They didn't have batteries like that in the first place. Try open up the games and see for yourself :p

^You're wrong, Mumbling!  I remember the day my old Blue Version stopped saving.  It didn't matter what I did, (beyond opening it up) it just would not save.

On top of that, I'm not the only one who has run into this problem.  Multiple people can testify that they too have lost all their data of their Gen 1 game due to the save battery going dead.

If I still had my Blue Version, I'd open it up and replace the battery inside.

Sorry Mumbling, but personal experience and multiple testimonies say otherwise. :)

It definitely wasn't the battery that died. They don't have a battery. Your cartridge may have been corrupt, though.

Red and Blue have batteries, but they don't have an internal clock. Here's (http://lparchive.org/Pokemon-Blue/Fix/) a website where someone bought a bunch of old Pokemon cartridges that didn't work and attempted to fix them. The first two pictures of opened cartridges are Pokemon Blue and Red. Both have batteries.

Alright, in any case, my pokemon Red and Blue still work (and so does my boyfriend's Blue), yet my silver and gold stopped working about 5 years ago, I replaced the battery on both afterwards. If it was based on the battery, wouldn't you expect Red and Blue to die earlier than Silver & Gold? Especially since I played those more often, too.

Sorry for my assumption of them having no battery.

No need to apologize. Red and Blue would actually last longer. Because they lack an internal clock, the game uses less power.

X and Y look amazing, they're one of the biggest reasons why I intend to get my hands on a 3DS. As for Generation V, I enjoyed it for what it is but personally my favorite Pokemon games will always be Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald as they hold a place close to my heart.

P.S. Fennekin, the fire-type starter Pokemon revealed in the trailer looks awesome.

I stopped watching this show After Pokemon season five ended. Than it just turned into a god awful mess my opinion by the way. They destroyed a once great Anime loved by many than they got rid of all the voice actors that made the show wonderful and fantastic. They made the fans come back for more. Veronica Taylor, Eric Stuart and the original cast was awesome. Now Ash sounds like he has botched up throat surgery that never got finished. They don't sound the same anymore. But I will see the new movie witch I know for a fact they're gonna make someday soon. And they ran out of colors and rocks so they're now using Algebra math equations for titles now. So unoriginal and not appealing at all.

From what I saw of the feedback, some liked it, some absolutely loathed it, but most were just "meh" about it. (Though some decided to pull Digimon-trolling jokes here, which is pretty much predictable with this one.)

Now, it seems one thing they noticed is that the new Mega Evolution will likely require the pokemon to hold an in-game item and is only temporary.  It's quite the trade-off and will become quite a factor for the online competitive fans to consider.

We'll just see where it all goes from here. :)

What I loved about it you can now see the whole character when you're battling. That's very cool and a nice feature they added to the game. But the whole fairy thing I was like okay but not to found about it. Overall it looks good so I will pick it up.

The original Gen 1 starters have had their Mega Forms revealed!

All I have to say is, Blastoise, you look awesome! :)

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/...iginal-Starters (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/127487-Pokemon-X-and-Y-Gives-Mega-Evolutions-to-Original-Starters)

Also, it seems that that there's more to Mega Evolution than just a hold item.  Apparently, the trainer must be wearing a special bracelet and must have a close bond with the Pokemon in question (aka Max Happiness) as well in order for the evolution to happen.

This is a BIG deal.  It shows that to get this special form, you have to work for it.  This right here will be quite the game changer. :)

I really like Charizard's design. And the fact that we get to choose Kanto starters along with Europe's starters. And everything. Except for the online bank feature. Not sure how much you have to pay, but they should at least allow you to get pokemon from previous games to X & Y for free.

Evolved forms of new starters!

Yep!  Still going for the Fire-type, and now I'm going to try my hardest for female. (I know it's 12.5%, but I don't care, I want it BAD!)

Also, turns out that Mewtwo has 2 Mega Forms.  Introducing Mega Mewtwo X!

The other one we've been seeing is Mega Mewtwo Y, and the two forms are, you guessed it, version exclusive!  I think this alone will change a few pre-orders! :)

Next up, Mega Garchomp!

Me want!! :D

And finally, some new pokemon!

Hmm... the new dinosaurs look interesting.

Well, that's all for now!

See ya later! :wave

If you have to get your pokemon to like you for mega evolution to work, I kinda hope the whole 'happiness' thing is a more interesting mechanic than it has previously been. Thus far it has always seemed like my pokemon just like me no matter what I do.

As always, loving the fossil pokemon. Carracosta from fifth gen was one of my absolute favorites :)

So which version is everyone getting? It's X for me!

Also having a hard time choosing between the fire and water starters. I guess I'll have to see the final evolutions :D

I landed Pokemon Y over the half term break last week. I'm about 6 hours into it and have to say, for a retired Pokemon fan (i.e. gave up naming and following pokemon after the initial 150 from the first gen) I'm pretty much hooked. Loving the 3D overhaul of the graphics and the tired and test formula still holds its own. Does seem a bit easier than what I recall of other Pokemon games. I haven't even got my second badge yet and my squad are all around the lvl 30 mark already.

Still not ready to take on the wide world just yet but if anyone's up for a trade, I'm game for it. My friend's code is in the Gamers Unite thread. you'll obviously have to let me know you've added me coz otherwise the conversations will be very one way.

Littlefoot1616 if you find a Skrelp, I would be happy to trade for it! I have X, and it's the only version Y exclusive I really want :p

I finally picked up this game and a used 3DS a week or so ago, and I am also hooked :) Something about it is just irresistibly charming, and more immersive than any pokemon game I've played to date. And I have doggedly played a game in each set they've released :smile
I am really taking a shine to the new pokemon as well, though I haven't found much use for mega evolution yet.

Littlefoot1616 if you find a Skrelp, I would be happy to trade for it! I have X, and it's the only version Y exclusive I really want :p

Hey Darkwolf!

I'll do my best to look out for one but as I said before, I pretty much faked out of knowing all the Pokemon by name after the first generation. I have no idea what Skrelp looks like. Heck you could be making it up and I wouldn't know the difference! :p If I come across one I'd gladly trade you one.

No, my pokedex is pretty much complete (at least, for what we can get in just X & Y without being able to trade with older generations).

I'll add you later today!

How weird and creepy have the Pokedex Entries of the newest Pokemon gotten?

Well...

Yeah, I think he says plenty. :)

Yeah seen plenty of those. What's that balloon looking pokemon one called? In Y, the entry talks about whisking children away that hang onto its legs... never to return... Da hell?!

And Spoink! (Effectively a pig's head and torso on a coiled spring). I feel sorry for this poor guy. In Y, it's entry is "It bounces constantly to keep its heart beating". So.... if you make it faint... and it falls over... you... kill it?! Uff... kinda dark. :(

Man... Pokemon gettin' all serious all of a sudden  :p  :DD

Pokémon Y was more than seven years after buying any previous classical pokemon game. During that pause, I bought just Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.
I Liked Pokemon Y, because the difference between pokemon Emerald was huge, graphics way better, and I simply like Pokémon. But the game was not very challenging. I do not remember, that I lost any battle, which makes it my only Pokemon game with this result. I liked also the Pokémon Amie.
