I just saw a news article about this.  After his diagnosis with ALS in 2017 he vowed to continue working on the show for as long as possible, and there was some hopes that he was in the early stages of the disease and might have some years left, but sadly it appears that his fight with the disease has come to an end. May he rest in peace.

Sad to lose such a creative, humble mind at such a young age. May he rest in peace!
