Allow registered members to upload?

I'm open to suggestions on this....should any person who is regestered be allowed to upload files to the board like pictures, mini-sound clips, text documents, etc.?

I think that everyone should be given the right to upload pictures and stuff. Of course their ought to be a way to strip people of that right in case they upload inappropriate stuff. One thing that I cannot decide but that I would strongly advocate is the renounce of large pictures so long they have nothing to do with the contend of a message. I've freequently seen messages with huge pictures in their signatures that had nothing to do with the message but used up vast space.

Well, actually this topic has nothing to do with signature pictures. For sigs everyone has to find their own host.

this is for the general allowing of uploading files in topics (like how I put the pictures in the Caption Contest or "Can You Tell what it is? game).

I think we should be able to upload things, since I got some great pics I like to show you all. In a folder post if that ok?

Well, we are given only so much space as a board. So, you probably can do a couple of pictures, but not a whole folder. There will be a size limit as well on anything you want to upload.

I already predict that it will go through...everyone wants the ability to upload phots and whatnot so they don't have the host the stuff themselves.

For any that are reading through all of this: this uploading will NOT include hosting signature pictures! If you want to use pictures in your signature you will need your own host.

The uploading entitles for a member to post artwork, or a music clip, something like that, but it is not a photo hosting option. This board automatically hosts your avatars but not signatures.

if every member uploads u will run out of space very quickly. I say keep it for admins and staff.

We have a plan worked out and we're discussing it now, so I think it's safe to say that every active member will be allowed to upload....we're just working out the details (as in how much every member gets to upload).

THat a great idea, you can have a limit of 3 to 5 pics only alound. That limit would stop over uploading.

I think it's going to be based on the actual filesize rather than the number of pictures.

I would recommend that they're small...each member really isn't getting a lot of space.
