The thing is, I feel that the original film did such a wonderful job at appealing to both children and adults. Not to say that the sequels inherently lack appeal to adults; this very forum is proof of that. But at the same time, I don't think making the sequels closer to the original film's tone would've sacrificed their appeal to kids.

I don't remember the first LBT film I ever saw, as it was so long ago. #1-3, 5-6 were the ones I saw as a kid (the rest I saw later as an adult), so it would've been one of those five films. Of those, I have a feeling it might be the original, but I really can't say for sure.

Character Showcase / Re: Spike Showcase - July 2019
« on: Today at 03:53:44 AM »
^I think they could have rectified all that by having Spike gradually learn to speak as the series progressed. It seems like that's the direction they were going with him with "Ducky!" at the end of LBT 4, but then he otherwise remains a relatively mute character. Whereas if he'd slowly begun to speak from LBT 5 onward, his personality and his dynamic with the rest of the Gang would've started to shift. I would've been interested to see how that could have developed.

Gotta go with Littlefoot as my favourite character. He's just too loveable. We watch him as he starts off as a playful, happy-go-lucky kid who loses everything and subsequently falls into grief and depression, but he eventually pulls himself back up and grows into a wise, compassionate leader.

Quoting from my post in the Littlefoot Showcase:
Quote
I think his most awesome moment is in the first film. After his nasty row with Cera and the gang splits up, and the other kids ditch him and all go with Cera. Next to his mother dying, that was the part where I felt the most sad for him. But then what does he do? He goes back for his friends anyway, and manages to save them all from dying horribly. That's a true hero right there.

Given that Chomper is a sharptooth, I actually understand and even sympathize with where Cera was coming from. She turned out to be wrong about him in the end, but still, I think it was a valid concern.

Right now, it's 87°F (~30.6°C). Most of the week will be in the upper 80s, with some days in the mid 80s. I really wish that the night time temperatures provided some better relief, but so far it has been upper 60s to lower 70s. :(

For most of the week, there will be sunshine. I would actually appreciate rain in this time of year, since it does cool temperatures down significantly...at the price of humidity levels being a bit high though. Temperatures do tend to rebound after a rain event, so it's only temporary. But, it's better than nothing at least. :)

I hear you.

I hear you. It's been getting gradually hotter here too, to the point that night hasn't been cooling it off that much any more. Although we just got a massive rainstorm earlier this afternoon which has been ongoing since.

I agree that there's no rush. However, if Universal hasn't responded by now, then I think it's a pretty safe bet that they just don't care.

The ocean I'm rather neutral about, simply as I've been to it very few times in my life (partly because I live in a land-locked province). In fact, I can't remember the last time I was there. I know it happened at some point, but it was probably many years ago now.

A calzone loaded with bacon bits and beef, ranch and BBQ and terriyaki sauce, and extra cheddar and parmesan cheese.
