e3 2019
« on: June 04, 2019, 09:35:59 AM »
Either I get this up today or it won't be put up until Friday.  I've got stuff to put up on Wednesday and Thursday.

e3 2019, which many suspect may be the last one, will go from June 8th.  The main conferences will end on June 11th, and there will be others trying games through out until the 13th.  It may all end by the 14th.

Now, let me get into why some suspect this might be the last one.  Because the last few years have proven that it's more profitable to do your own thing.  Nintendo was the first.  Their Direct has proven to be a very profitable advertisement platform for them.  Sony has started State of Play and are learning the ropes.  Google is getting into the market and are doing their own conferences when they want because they have the capital. (They're doing one this Thursday.) EA is thinking of taking their EA Play out of e3 and do that whenever they like.  You can see where this is going, right?  Yeah, this could be it.

Anyways, here's the schedule.

EA Play Live Stream: Saturday, June 8 - 12:15 PM Eastern

Microsoft: Sunday, June 9 - 4:00 PM Eastern

Bethesda: Sunday, June 9 - 8:30 PM Eastern

Devolver Digital: Sunday, June 9 - 10:00 PM Eastern

PC Gaming Show: Monday, June 10 - 1:00 PM Eastern

Ubisoft: Monday, June 10 - 4:00 PM Eastern

Square Enix: Monday, June 10 - 9:00 PM Eastern

Nintendo Direct: Tuesday, June 11 - 12 PM Eastern

So, what will I cover?  Well, Microsoft and Nintendo are on there.  I'll definitely cover those. (Not just here, but also on my DeviantART Journal.  Though this place will get it first.  DeviantART will just be Copy & Paste.) I doubt I'll be able to do the PC one as it's airing, but we'll see.

Anyways, looks like I got a busy week with few breaks.

See ya later! :wave

I'm attending! I'll be making videos for a YouTube channel, much like I did for GDC 2019. Looking forward to it!

I honestly wouldn't mind if this was the last E3. It mostly feels like it's a cinematic hype fest to big letdowns mixed in with awkward speeches. I really watch it more to laugh at then the actual content, which is why I loved the last 2 Devolver Digital conferences as they basically satirize E3 and the industry in general.

There still are some nice surprises every now and then like Monster Hunter: World but overall it's feeling more lackluster over time. Hopefully there's some neat announcments though.

Awesome, hope you have fun!

I like E3, but mostly because of all the game announcements. I agree with Flathead that the expectations are a bit too high and the speeches are absolutely awkward most of the time. However, it is rather nice to have a set point of the year on which we can look forward to new games being announced. I'd still like to attend myself sometime (but my company isn't going this year around), so I hope it sticks around for a while more :D

Okay, there's a lot of stuff here! :opetrie Let's get to those bullet points, shall we?

-Okay, is this the official release date of Ori and the Wild of the Wisps?  I've been waiting to play this one.  Just give it to me already!

-If Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order wasn't made by EA, I'd be getting it.  As of now, I'm boycotting EA until further notice.  Maybe I'll get a Used copy to ensure they don't get my money.

-Battletoads returns?  Heck yeah, I'm getting it!

-Psychonauts 2 Coming to XBox One?  Someone pinch me!

-Maybe I'll get that Lego Star Wars game.  Might be fun going through all the movies like that.

-12 Minutes looks intriguing.  I might get it.

-Phantasy Star 2 Online?  Are you kidding me?  Of course I'm getting it!

-I'll test X Cloud when it comes in October.

-Looking forward to the new console when it comes next year, Microsoft.

In hindsight, not much I wanted to touch on, but it was good.

See ya later for Nintendo! :wave

Okay, Nintendo, you just might end up taking my wallet here.  Let's begin!

-Love that Banjo-Kazooie is finally coming to Smash!  Will be adding that to Smash!

-Seriously can't wait for Luigi's Mansion 3!  I want it already!

-I'll definitely be getting Link's Awakening, despite the unfavorable art style.

-All of those "Mana" games I'm definitely getting.

-Definitely getting that Contra Collection!

-Astral Chain still on my list!

-Cadence of Hyrule is coming in only 2 days!?  Please, let me recover, Nintendo! :opetrie

-Looking forward to Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3!

-Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games missed out last time.  Looks like it's back for those fans!

-Animal Crossing, where you build the whole freaking town!  Don't think they can go much further!  Will definitely get it!

-So, Spyro is coming to Switch.  You bet I'm getting it!

-I almost missed Stranger Things 3 due to their hard to read logo!  They need to work on that.  Other than that, I like the style their going with.

-New Super Lucky's Tale is on my list!

-Of course I'm getting Super Mario Maker 2!

-Finally, getting that new Zelda game!

Yeah, I'm sure my wallet hates me right now!  What can you do?

Now, to enjoy Nintendo Treehouse!  See ya later! :wave

It's great to see Seiken Densetsu 3 (Dubbed Trials of Mana) finally get a localization! (and a remake to boot as well!) Playing the fan translation on an emulator was one of my favourite SNES games as well as JRPGs in general. Pretty cool concept to have 6 characters stories happening concurrently with your main character chosen resulting in 1 of 3 different endgames. Pretty unique stuff. Definitely gonna buy the collection soon as I was tempted to buy the Japanese version back when the Switch first was released. Overall the best announcement for me so far!

Other games that I already knew I was interested in getting were Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Mario Maker 2, Astral Chain, might get the Spyro games but got too many games to play atm. Don't care about the Dragon Quest Hero in Smash but Banjo Kazooie is a nice addition.

The Contra game looks a little underwhelming at this point and I've never been a big Animal Crossing fan. Still undecided on Link's Awakening but the trailer for the BotW sequel certainly came as a surprise. Almost thought it was another DLC. Looks like we might be seeing what Ganon is up to :p

I was quite happy with what was shown off today I and always enjoy that Nintendo keeps these directs nice and short with good pacing.
