These are various Darwin's Soldiers drabbles I will be putting together for my creative writing class. I may decide to expand on some of them but I am not sure about that yet. Note that these are not canon unless I state that they are canon.

For those who have not heard of the  Darwin's Soldiers universe here is a summary (thanks to LettuceBacon&Tomato):

In the first RP, Pelvanida Base (a secret military research facility in the Nevadan desert) was attacked by terrorists.

One of the terrorists, Hans Donitz, switched to Pelvanida's side and helped defeat them, but not before they built an Einstein-Rosen Bridge, a device capable of transporting one through space and time.

In the second RP, James and a large team of ex-personnel from Pelvanida Base discovered an unethical and illegal underground project called Dragonstorm. They invaded the base with intentions to shut the project down.

----------------------------------------

The first one is below.

It is set during Darwin's Soldiers II. It expands on the alternate plan for how our heroes enter Pelvanida.

-----------------------------------------

Entrance

It was a hot night, typical of Nevadan summers. Below the clear sky, the moon and stars shone on an infinite sea of rocky desert slashed by a single highway. The highway below was as empty as the vast expanse of desert that surrounded it. There were no cars on this desolate stretch of highway. Except for two.

The first car, a large SUV, sped along the empty highway, its powerful high beams penetrating the darkness. The driver, an anthropomorphic Clydesdale horse, turned off the radio, which was softly playing Mars: The Bringer of War by Gustav Holst.

“You guys okay back there?” he asked.

“We’re trying to sleep.” A groggy female voice replied.

“Sorry.” The Clydesdale sighed and noticed a sign in the distance. It read “Route 140”.

A large pickup truck followed the SUV. The pickup truck’s high beams were nowhere as powerful as those of the SUV but they were adequate. The driver, an anthropomorphic bison, was blasting Kenny Loggins’s Danger Zone through his truck’s speaker system.

For several hours, the two vehicles drove through the empty desert. When the SUV finally stopped, it was near what seemed to be an abandoned gas station. The pickup truck soon followed and the driver disembarked.

The Clydesdale turned off the engine and opened all the doors. “Okay guys, time to rise and shine.”

The first person to exit the SUV was a skinny, somewhat scraggly haired man. He groaned a few times as he stretched.

“Zachary,” the man looked at his watch, “it’s 3:30, in the morning!”

“I know James, but this is the only way in without getting ourselves shot.” Zachary replied.

A young woman disembarked from the SUV followed by three other men, and an anthropomorphic hawk cyborg. They proceeded to stretch and walk around a bit before Zachary opened the trailer that his SUV was towing.

The trailer’s occupants, a man in a ninja outfit, an anthropomorphic chameleon, an anthropomorphic wolf who appeared to be cut in half and an anthropomorphic iguana disembarked. They two walked around to get their bearings and to revitalize their torpid limbs.

“An abandoned gas station?” the chameleon said, disgust evident in his voice.

“Quiet, Cale, there may be something here. Not is all as it seems.” The ninja replied.

“Yeah whatever, Kagetora.” Cale replied. He quickly struck a small electric arc between his thumb and forefinger to serve as a flashlight. He along with Kagetora began exploring the gas station.

Zachary headed for the back of the gas station and stopped by what seemed to be a bathroom except that the door was made of heavy steel not wood. He then quickly called everyone over to the “bathroom”.

“Well, this it, Pelvanida’s emergency exit.” Zachary replied.

“Let me guess, we enter through here.” Alfred replied.

James nodded. “Right you are.” He then tried the doorknob only to find out that it was merely a solid piece of steel. “And we’ll need your construction expertise.”

-----------------------

Aisha, Dr. Landon, Alfred, Dr. Zanasiu, Zachary, Werner, Hans, Kagetora, Cale, Neku, Slash and Hawkeye appear in this fic.

If you don't want a character used in these drabbles please tell me so as I need to use them in order to make these drabbles make sense.

Actually, they are simply "writing scraps" if you will. I may expand on some of the them but those that will be expanded upon will get their own thread.

Well, this one was very good, and makes me hope it gets continued. Your characterization is good, I can imagine the characters as different people. That's one thing many new authors are terrible at; they can't give their characters distinct personalities from each other. You've done it very well.

Good work!

Oh. Well, scraps or not, they are still very good... I see where the Clydesdale comes from in the free form fantasy RP... heheh.

Oh, did we need to give permission? You know you've always had permission to use Rudyard Shelton or his anti-matter counterpart (now named Oscar) in any story.

This story expands on the theft of Zachary's cell growth accelerant samples that was mentioned in both RPs. It takes place before Darwin's Soldiers 1.

If it isn't obvious, 'The Project' is another name for Dragonstorm.

This is canon.

-----------------------------

Revelation

Zachary sighed as he connected the electrophoresis apparatus to the power source. He looked at the digital clock: 23:30. [censored], I’m going to be here all night again. He thought.

As he tossed his gloves into the garbage and washed his hands, he noticed a bright yellow flyer that had been taped on to the announcements board where. He pulled off the flyer and read it. The text read:

To All Pelvanida personnel:

Re: Theft

Several scientists have reported various experimental biological samples being stolen from their labs. Pelvanida security is attempting to find and punish the perpetrators. In the meantime, please lock all samples securely and take inventory at least twice a day. If you have been hit by a theft, report it using an incident form as soon as possible. Finally, if you find one of the stolen samples please report it to security.

Neville Ivers, Head of Pelvanida Security

Zachary headed over to the refrigerator labeled “Biological samples only - no food”. He opened the refrigerator and an empty rack of Eppendorf tubes stared him in the face.

“[censored]! I’ve been robbed!” Zachary shouted.

He shut the refrigerator, grabbed an incident report form out of a drawer, quickly filled it out and placed it in the mailbox outside the lab.

He then headed to the back office in preparation to leave but a silver flash drive caught his eye. It was barely noticeable, tucked under a keyboard and almost blending in with the gleaming stainless steel counter.

Zachary took the flash drive and booted up the nearest computer. As soon as it was booted up, he plugged the flash drive in and opened the single file he saw; it was ambigiously labeled “Materials”.

Zachary’s jaw noticed that his coworker Keegan O’Neill was listed as having acquired a cell growth accelerant, the one that Zachary reported stolen.

Suddenly, he heard the heavy steel door slide open and the clatter of horseshoes on stainless steel floor could be heard. Zachary quickly turned towards the noise and spotted an anthropomorphic Shire horse standing in front of the doorway.

“Well, Zach working late I see?” the Shire said.

“Shut up Keegan, you’re the [censored] who stole my cell growth accelerant samples! What are you trying to do? Steal my accomplishments!?” Zachary spat.

“I have your samples but it’s not about accomplishments. You see, Pelvanida has always had a hidden side.” Keegan replied. He then pulled out another flash drive from his labcoat and stuck it into the computer. Soon, he bought up a series of images, showing cybernetics experiments on children of various species.

Zachary looked at one of the images with an expression of horror on his face. “Well, I’m not responsible for this gross breach in ethical codes.”

“Oh, but you are. You see, ëThe Project’ uses discoveries from everyone. I’d love to tell you more but I’ve got to get going.” Keegan replied. He then flashed a Sig-Sauer P226 pistol in a hip holster to Zachary as he walked out the door. “Oh, if you even think of telling anyone else, you’ll have a ëself inflicted gunshot wound.”

As the door slid shut, Zachary stared at the stainless steel walls. I helped this monster experiment on children? He thought.

I really liked that story. O'Neill seemed totally in control of the situation, and Zachary responded much like any sane person would. I like the new knowledge that Neville Ivers is chief of security :) All in all, worthy of canon. Great job!

Here's another one.

Note this one isn't my best because it is all dialogue

---------------------------------------

Jackson Riley:  Dr. Branston, I have been ordered to enter Lab 101 by Dr. Kurt Bradley.

Dr. Ian Branston:  Mr. Riley, Lab 101 has been declared off limits to all personnel except a few. And you are not one of those personnel.

Riley:  But my orders!

Dr. Branston:  You do not have clearance to enter that lab. That is final.

Dr. Kurt Bradley:  *Entering control room* Dr. Branston, my colleagues and myself have encountered some suspicious personnel entering and leaving that lab. We have
been told to examine that lab for contraband.

Dr. Branston: If there are illicit activities going on there; I will know about it. You need not trouble yourselves.

Riley:  But you said that Lab 101 is off limits to all but select personnel?

Dr. Branston: I did. Indeed, even I, head of the control room, do not have clearance to enter that lab.

Dr. Bradley: How the hell would you know about illicit activities if you were not granted clearance to enter the lab?!

Dr. Branston: Dr. Bradley, I have ways to find out everything in this base, even in classified areas. You don’t need to trouble yourselves.

Dr. Bradley: We’ll save you the trouble and we’ll examine the base.

Dr. Branston:  I told you, you do not have clearance to enter that lab.

Riley:  If there’s illicit activity, I donët give a [censored] about clearance levels.  We need to stop it!

Dr. Branston:  The guards outside that lab are very strict about their orders to guard that lab. They won’t allow you to enter unless you have the correct clearance.

Dr. Bradley: There are suspected illegal activities going on!

Dr. Branston: *sighs* Look, I’d love to help you get in but even I cannot enter that lab. And if you ignore the guards, they will not hesitate to arrest or even shoot you. They take their orders extremely seriously. I’ve had scientists report being threatened by the guards and the other guards complain about them being too eager to brandish their weapons.

Riley: Who hired them?! They are way too trigger-happy for my taste.

Dr. Branston: Your taste doesn’t matter. The Pelvanida base administrator had specifically ordered them to be present.

Dr. Bradley: Seriously, what is in that lab?! It’s off limits to roughly 99% of the staff and the guards are borderline paranoid.

Dr. Branston: I don’t know! And even if I did, I can’t tell you! Now I strongly advise that you refrain from seeking more information about that lab.

---------------------------------------

Note that I just created first names for Dr. Bradley and Riley.

THIS IS (obviously) NOT CANON!

This story is inspired by this dream I had yesterday:

Quote
I remember Ducky (Adult Ducky, who for some reason worked at Pelvanida along with other Swimmers and Great Valley dinosaurs) volunteering to test a new experimental armor in the AWTR. Dr. Zanasiu, Zachary and some other scientists were present as well.

Just as she donned the armor which was black, glossy and very futuristic in appearance (imagine the trademark MJOLNIR armor from the Halo series only sleeker and somewhat more feminine), the alarm goes off, indicating a terrorist assault.

Yep, everyone present grabs some sort of firearm even the experimental ones. Ducky grabs a railgun designed for vehicle mounting.

It's a weird as hell but cool fusion of Twilight Valley and Darwin's Soldiers.

Oh, the nicknames I chose for Ducky in this incarnation is "Ducky-117" or "Halo Ducky". There is no real reason why I chose these nicknames but the powered armor she's sporting may have something to do with it.

This is most definitely a Crack Fic. I'd say it's pretty...erm unique.

The title is completely random but it fuses the nameTwilight Valley with the military base of Darwin's Soldiers (Pelvanida).

------------------------------

Pelvanida's Twilight

It was an ordinary day inside Pelvanida Base. The sterile, gleaming stainless steel and concrete hallways were abuzz with activity. The cold white light of LEDs illuminated scientists, guards and maintenance personnel going about their daily business.

Dr. Yuri Kerzach and Dr. Rudyard Shelton wound their way through the cool hallways until they reached the back of the base. There, Dr. Kerzach slid his ID card into the reader near a massive steel door. The deadly .30 caliber armored machinegun autoturrets slowly pivoted as they scanned the area.

“Here we are, the Advanced Weapons Testing Range. This is where all the magic happens.” Dr. Kerzach said. He then turned to Shelton. “And don’t touch anything. I know what happens every time you touch a firearm or any sort of weapon.”

Dr. Shelton sighed. “All right but at least I get to see the fruits of everyone’s labor.”

The heavy steel doors of the AWTR creaked as they slowly slid open. Inside the massive lab were crates filled with thousands of rounds of ammunition and spare parts as well as workbenches with various weapons. At one end of the lab was a massive garage that held several armored vehicles, mostly armored Humvees but a few eight wheeled Stryker fighting vehicles could be seen as well. Several technicians and scientists were clambering over the vehicles, attaching the new weapons. At the other end was a soundproof combination lab and firing range where the smaller handheld weapons were being tested.

Dr. Kerzach grabbed a set of safety glasses and radio equipped earmuffs for himself and Dr. Shelton. They quickly donned the safety glasses but left the earmuffs dangling.

Dr. Kerzach then led Dr. Shelton over to the firing range. There he quickly donned the earmuffs as did Dr. Shelton.

The two entered the firing range. Several scientists were busy firing and recording data from the latest weapons.

They passed by a Fast-Runner recording data from a test firing of a handheld laser rifle. A female Swimmer was busy firing off several rounds from a rather large pistol. As she reloaded her pistol, her assistant, a skinny Raven recorded the data from the chronograph.

“2000 meters per second, 2223 meters per second, 1900 meters per second, 2351 meters per second.” The Raven muttered as he read off the chronograph’s display.”

Dr. Shelton and Dr. Kerzach then passed by a Brown Bear firing what seemed like an ordinary shotgun. But instead of shot, what emerged from the barrel were several brilliant red streams of sparks.

Dr. Kerzach and Dr. Shelton exited the firing range and took off their earmuffs.

“So what’d you think?” Dr. Kerzach said.

Dr. Shelton cleared his throat. “Well, Ms. Swimmer’s making good progress on her gauss pistol and Ovius hasn’t made much progress on his laser rifle. Granted, he’s still trying to work on a more efficient way of cooling the thing. And of course, Petr Kozlov. He still hasn’t made any progress at all with his flare shotgun. I’m currently considering cutting his funding.”

A loud explosion echoed through the test lab, forcing everyone to cover their ears.

“What the hell was that?” Dr. Shelton asked.

“They’re probably test firing one of the vehicle mounted railguns.” Dr. Kerzach said. He then sighed. “I wish they would…” Another explosion rocked the lab.

“That’s odd.” Dr. Shelton said. Suddenly his radio beeped. He picked it up and all he could hear was garbled screaming and gunfire. He then bolted down the hallway, with Dr. Kerzach following. They then made their way back to the control room. He quickly activated the exterior cameras and saw, to his horror, a swarm of armed soldiers and armored vehicles were making their way into the base. The exterior guards were fighting back as best as they can but they were no match for the massive horde.

He then hit the emergency alert button, playing a synthesized announcement. “Alert, intruders have breached the base. This is not a drill. Intruders have breached the base.”

Dr. Shelton, sweating profusely, grabbed the intercom, cleared his throat and turned it on.

“All Pelvanida science staff, follow lockdown procedures! All Pelvanida guards, prepare to engage! All armored vehicles on test runs, engage enemies!”

The nearest technician, a pink Fast-Runner sealed the control room. She pulled out a Sig-Sauer P226 pistol from under the desk.

“I never thought one of the situations we drilled for would become real.” She replied.

“That’s why we drill for everything, Ruby.” Dr. Kerzach replied.

Ruby said nothing but gripped her pistol tightly.

Over in the AWTR, the whole scene was organized chaos, scientists sealing the all the exits and arming themselves.

Ducky, who had been in the process of attaching a railgun to an armored Humvee, gulped.

“I do not think this could happen. Oh, no, no.” She muttered. She then ran out of the garage and hid behind some crates in the back.

However, Chomper, who had put on an armored vest over his labcoat, found her.

“Ducky, pull yourself together! We will survive this!” Chomper gripped his weapon, a laser rifle tightly. He powered it up and the hum of the capacitors charging could be heard.

Ducky gulped and stood up. “I will not back down. I will not, I will not.”

“That’s the spirit!” Chomper said.

“Now what can I use?” Ducky asked out loud.

At this point, a pale blue Fast-Runner went up to her. “Ducky, I have the perfect weapons system for you.”

Ducky followed the Fast-Runner and to her surprise, he opened a crate with a suit of sleek black armor.

“This is an experimental powered armor. The final version is powered by several high energy fuel cells running on methanol but this prototype is attached to a power cord. It’s supposed to be for all species but the prototype I made is for Swimmers.” The Fast-Runner said.

“I will take it.” Ducky said.

The Fast-Runner and Ducky lifted the armor out of the crate and stood it up. The Fast-Runner quickly connected the armor to a transformer specifically for the armor.

As soon as he did so, the suit’s motors whirred to life and Ducky carefully backed into the armor. The armor automatically closed around her, fitting her body perfectly. She then grabbed the helmet out of the crate and donned it.

Soon, Ducky stood before the Fast-Runner scientist. She was covered from head to toe in sleek black armor. Her head was covered by a helmet that covered all her features. The only distinguishing feature of the helmet was a reflective visor over her eyes. Even her tail was covered in articulated armor. She looked intimidating but at the same time somewhat feminine.

“I like it. I do, I do.” Ducky said. Her voice was oddly clear even through the helmet.

Chomper stared at Ducky. “What the?”

The Fast-Runner ignored Chomper and grabbed a laser rifle off a nearby workbench.

Ducky however, opened a crate and removed a railgun assembly designed for mounting on larger vehicles. She soon lifted it up and out of the crate.

“What the…” Chomper said. He was shocked that Ducky managed to lift the nearly one ton weapon with seemingly no effort.

Ducky attached moved towards the garage with her railgun and a box of steel railgun slugs, which was dragged behind her. Heads turned at the strangely armored Swimmer.

Ducky then connected the railgun to a transformer, which she connected into a wall outlet.

At the same time, she ordered the doors to be opened. When the doors were opened, the armored vehicles moved out of the garage into the blistering Nevadan sun. Ducky stood near the garage, the power supply for both her railgun and suit as well as the crate of slugs out of harm’s way and loaded a slug into her railgun.

She spotted an enemy helicopter destroying a Pelvanida Humvee. She then aimed the massive railgun at the offending aircraft and fired. The steel slug instantly tore through the helicopter, bringing down to the ground. The recoil didn’t seem to bother her. To her through the suit it felt like a moderate shove whereas to an ordinary person it would feel like getting hit by one of the armored Humvees going at full speed.

Several enemy troopers fired at her but the bullets literally bounced off her suit. She took aim at one of the troopers, who was armed with a Light Anti-tank Weapon. Before the trooper could aim and fire his rocket, she nailed him with one of the hypersonic slugs. He was literally disintegrated, as were the troopers behind him.

At the control room, Shelton grimly watched the battle raging outside.

“It’s only a matter of time before this turns into a building battle.” He muttered.

“It is inevitable.” Ruby replied, clutching her pistol.

Unbeknownst to either of them, a building battle was indeed close.

--------------------

Note that if I do expand it, it will probably merit a topic of its own (as will all my expanded universe stories).

That. . .was . . .AWESOME!!! I never thought I'd read a Darwin's Soldiers/LBT crossover, and above all your previous drabbles I think this is one that deserves to be turned into a full-fledged fanfic. The call-outs to both Darwin's Soldiers and LBT are well integrated (Kozlov and his funding made me laugh), and I want to see what happens in this alternate storyline.

You're writing is definitely improving, and each drabble you post I like more than the last one. I bet you're getting great grades in your Crative Writing class. :)

Everyone loves my writings and my teacher threatened to fail me if I didn't let him publish one of my writings (one about new media, Youtube poops, fan fiction and roleplaying).

If I do a full fan fic version, it will probably be A LOT shorter than Twilight Valley (20,000-40,000 words tops) and the actual Darwin's Soldiers novel.

I guess you really liked that stuff I sent you about the Command and Conquer/ LBT fusion fic.  This is a good combination story!   I'm still not sure I should post it in the public domain because it's a bit more brutal then my usual writings - hardcore LBT fans wouldn't be too happy to read a story about Sharpteeth and Leaf-eaters blowing each other up with high powered weapons, especially when it's a complete contrast to Far Away Home.

Apart from that though, the VDF weapons page is almost done so I'll send it when it is.

Agreed. This isn't a story you could keep going for very long, methinks, but a short one full of action and enjoyable to the last sentence. Best yet, you could post it on fanfiction.net and get more viewers because it has LBT in it!
