Adrenaline and Abilities
« on: November 10, 2009, 03:12:38 AM »
It is confirmed that an adrenaline state exists and that the sprint ability is one of the abilities that require the adrenaline state to be active in order to be used.

The question is what other abilities would require the adrenaline state to be active before use?

Here's a few suggestions:

Strength boost - under adrenaline state, you can trigger this ability which adds a staggering 35 points to your character's strength. This ability is usable once per adrenaline state. Also when the adrenaline state is over, your character takes some damage and the stamina and energy bars are completely depleted.

Pain Tolerance - under adrenaline state, you can trigger this ability which allows your character to disregard stats being lowered (indicative of injury) for a limited time.  This ability is usable once per adrenaline state. This consumes energy and stamina at a high rate.

-------------------------

Also, could adrenaline boost the senses ("radar" range extension)?

Can it also boost your character's strength and speed by a small portion (say +5 points) with no ill effects.

I like this!

As stated in another topic, I propose that the higher your Aggression is, the more effective your strength-based abilities are when under adrenaline.

Overall, Adrenaline would increase your speed and strength.

As for what abilities would be available, we could also have some species-specific abilities, for example:

A flyer may have a "distract" ability.
Shedding its fears for a brief moment, the flyer targets an enemy and increases its own speed dramatically.  The targeted enemy pursues the flyer wildly, allowing the others to escape to safety.
It might be possible to level it up so that it affects all enemies within a specified radius, rather than a single target.

Can only be used once per adrenaline state.  Counts as "used" only if the targeting successfully hit an enemy (mostly useful if leveled up and the radius clicked has no enemies in it).

Ram - The threehorn lowers its head and charges towards the target, increasing the target's fear and dealing heavy damage (if it hits). The downside is, if it misses, the target has a good chance to get away.

I'm not sure on energy/stamina costs so I'll leave that up to you.

Ram would probably consume stamina and energy at a high rate because it takes a lot of energy to get the ramming dinosaur to ramming speed and sustain that speed.

For Swimmers, how about an adrenaline state allows Swimmers to swim even in rough waters.
