Ok. i want to start a rpg where there is a fire. my last one went horrible, so this time im going to ask for input before just starting one. Would anyone even like to be a part of it, or is it a dumb topic??

I would be interested. Starting a discussion is a good idea since you can state your idea and others can ask your questions.
Some that some folks need to know is is it pure land before time, meaning no powers, magic, knowledge of magic, nor anything else allowed, or is it ok for the characters to have magic, powers, ect ?
Is it set between certain movies, or a rough sort of time like after the movies during the tv series some time?
Are certain main fc's allowed or not allowed, like Chomper, Ruby?

1) i'd like for it to be a strict LBT roleplay
2) well, i'm not sure when it falls in, just anywhere I guess.
3) Anyone is allowed, be it a real character or OC, and I don't really care if you play more than one person...however many you think you can handle really.

I like the idea, and especially the fact it will be strict lbt with no magic ect.
As folks claim the various feature characters you may want to edit your first post to add in which characters are taken. I'd say no need to list any not taken since that'll be just more for folks to look through to see if their favorite character is taken or not. I'll think it over and see what a few more say they want before I say any feature characters I may want.

Also, I think that i'll give just a quick rundown of the plot i had in mine:
1. The thundering falls stop, the grownups have seen this before and are aware of what to expect.
2. There is a fire.
3. The grown-ups know that they will have to travel into the MB if they ever want the GV to return to a livable state.
Of course, we'll need sharpteeth. Also, if people want to be the children or their OC children, then by all means do it. Of course the children will sneak into the MB...
I am open to critisicm and suggestions. The RP does not have to follow this exact plot.

No need to follow the exact plot. It is similar to stuff from some movies. One of the two places some the adults may think to go to is either the place where they spent the winter till the snow melted at the end of movie 8, the big freeze, and at the end of 5 when they spent the time in the place near the great water till the great valley was able to regrow.

I like the plot. No reason the Great Valley can't have something like that happen to it. It could happen from time to time. And it sounds like there'd be no magic, super powers, psionics, but just pure LBT, which sounds great to me.
Any time you had in mind, between certain movies? Before or after Ruby and Chomper got to the Great Valley?

well, i tried before (without a discussion) but people only went there and replied to say something about my sentence structure or something.
Well, I had a OC that I was going to use, I was just going to leave the gang open to all who'd rather play as them and of course other OC's are welcome.

I've rped as most of the gang members, except for Cera, only very briefly did Ruby. I have 2 oc's so I could use Mim, and perhaps rp Littlefoot unless someone else wants to. The ones I enjoy doing a lot, and do the best I think, are Ducky and Petrie, but I"ll let others pick those first.
Did you have a rough idea when you wanted to get started?
No reason after a week or however long you wanted to wait that it could not get started anyway.

I'll have no problem with starting it right away, just I want to make sure people will reply, no need to start up another failing topic.

Up to you, you can start it quick, or wait a bit to see what others think. Though others may come in after it's started. I also see no reason why an rp can't have a few folks rping in it if they are all having fun. In fact if you are new to gming or running an rp thread having a small rp for your first few ones may be better then having one with 9 or 12 folks rping in it.

Sounds like me. Guess that means we are both very flexible. Which is good for the rp. It means between us we can make sure nearly all of the gang get rped.

well, i've edited the taken characters into the first post of this topic. And i'm taking my OC Twilight. I'll take more if needed but since theirs going to be a big demand for the FCs (probly) i'll just leave them open until the time comes :D

Nimrod was telling me if I wanted to join, so if this is later in the LBT timeline (I mean maybe after LBT4) I may bring my OC Cayso.

I think he mentioned it's after Chomper and Ruby are in the valley so it's likely roughly during the tv series or some time after it maybe.

Maybe he became friends with Chomper, who showed him stuff that he eats while in the great valley. Someone else can do Chomper, or I can if no one else wants to.
That is just one option, if you want to say your char has already been there a while. After all they put Chomper in, poof, with no explaination of how the grownups came to accept and trust him around their kids, so if it's good enough for a feature character, why not yours, though that is up to the GM if he'd allow such a thing like this.
There are other options also.

That's correct I need the permission from the GM even though he added my OC to the first post.
What I do know is that my OC has friends in the valley (from the fanfic I am making or trying to make :D ), after the journey, Cayso found an entrance and he secretly visits his friends for short periods of time, maybe in one of those visits, Cayso cannot find his friends (maybe they were in another part at the time) and gets spotted by another of the characters of this rpg.

Sure you can play Chomper if you want GVG.
If the gm says it's ok, then I'd guess you could introduce your char any way that is ok with him and you. Who would your char's friends be anyway?

The friends I was talking about are the dinos in the group during the storyline I have... but I don't think I will include any of them. Maybe Cayso was looking for Ecco, but I wanted was to make Cayso's brother to appear too, but maybe as a quick pop-up only.

You can ask the gm about that, it does sound like an interesting idea you have. Up to you wither you want to rp your brother or not do so.

No, not any of the gang knows Cayso until now the rpgs. But I like to use Cayso because of his experience travelling and living with leaf-eaters (he eats meat when he is away of the group :P: ), about Cayso's brother, well, as I said, I'm not sure... I may need the gm's opiion about that (even though it should be fine role-playing only one character for now until I gain more experience).

If you are new to rping then doing 1 character for a while may be easier for you till you feel comfortable. You can ask the gm questions you have either here or via pm.

It is Interesting, also I'm doing Mim (an oc of mine, and Littlefoot) I may add other Fc's later but I want to see who wants to play their favorite Fc. I enjoy playing certain folks, but I'd rather a person have the first pick of their favorite fc.

Mmm, making my OC to just appear may remind of how Commander Worf appeared in later Star Trek movies... he alwayg got interrupted everytime he was going to explain why he was there :lol:

Funny, but maybe they did that since the script writers could not come up with a good reason so they did that instead. Still funny though.

In Worf's case I heard, no idea if it is true, that the actor only agree to go to the DS9 series was that he had to be in every next gen movie.
As for your fastbiter character, if one of the gang, especially Chomper meets you that may be better then if another one, like one of the bullies or Cera's dad encounters you first.

Well, maybe Cayso may be considered by some as a kind of "gentle hunter" because he will not make any harm to his leaf-eater friends... but if he finds a bully of some kind or a bad guy... well, he is not as nice as Chomper.
Maybe Chomper (and perhaps Ruby too) met Cayso or his brother Racnar at some point, that can help too.... Racnar sounds good because he is even younger than Cayso, making him a bit more closer to Chomper.
- Off topic: About Worf, I cannot be sure, maybe he was convinced (as all of the other actors) to appear in all films, but it appears that they were all happy to make them. But Worf did sign a contract to participate in DS9 after TNG ended.

I heard he had it put into his contract, not sure if that is true or not, that he'd not do the DS9 series unless it was in his contract he'd be in all the next gen movies too.

I'm also fairly new and would like ot get involved in some small way. It looks to me as if a lot of the characters are still free, so I think nobody'll mind me joining in. Could I rp Ducky maybe? Be warned though, I won't be a great rper as I've never done this type of rping before.

Best to stick with 1 if you are beginning to rp, till you feel comfortable doing a second. Only you can determine what pace is best for you.

Twilight: I'm not at all sure that i've heard this sound while i've been here in the great valley. However, I am certain that I've heard it before while traveling in the Mysterious Beyond in my younger days. I fear what it is to come. I have a very bad feeling about the future.
* Just then, the Earth slightly begins to shake. Rocks tremble and parents begin to call for their children. The water from the lake begins to come onto shore and the Dinosaurs all clearly have fearful faces on their faces. Twilight gets down and curls around hiding his face under his own tail. Then, the shaking becomes more violent and as everyone disperses while scrambling for protection, three huge flying rocks throw themselves across the sky. Twilight peaks from under his tail in time to see the rocks flying behind and thundering falls. He also hears the great sound they make, which must have been created as a result of the rocks landing down somewhere. Then, for an instant , a chaotic and violently rough sonic boom hits the Earth, causing a old tree in front of Twilight to begin to fall towards him. Twilight quickly gets from his protective stance and jumps out of the way just in to avoid himself harm. The thundering falls have stopped now, but Twilight hasn't noticed yet. As all of the shaking stops and the other dinosaurs begin to come out of their secret hideaways, Twilight begins to speak again.*

Well the thundering falls collects into a pond, they're all gathering in that pond :)

Hope it's not to many characters if I do Mama Swimmer and Flier. They seem pretty active in the movies and tv series so thought they should be played. I only started doing 1 then the other since I was waiting to see if anyone would be doing them.
Plus at worst Mama Flier can come back and report to the others about thundering falls stopping, if no one else already has.
I just did Mrs Maia since someone would need to look after all of Mama Swimmer's kids.

I have some questions, due to the fact I am more familiarized with LBT in spanish so I got confused with some places mentioned, like the Sheltering Grass and the Smoking Mountain? I got a bit confussed and I hope you can answer to this :D

The smoking mountain is a volcano that was in LBT 2 i think. And as for the sheltering grass, i remember seeing it in LBT but i forget which, it's a patch of tall grass, but not sure where it is.

I think the smoking mountain appears again in canyon of shiny stones. It's a volcano that mainly just spews smoke, but does lava now and then.
I don't think they said where the sheltering grass is, it's a place, like mentioned before, a field of tall grass that is good for young ones, like the gang, to hide in during hide and seek. I don't recall what was going on during it's appearance.
Many places of the great valley they don't really say where this is in relation to that.
That is a good idea. Maybe for some folks someone who is an expert in LBT and the great valley can do a short sort of encyclopedia of lbt places with a brief description.

In LBT 2, where the Sheltering grass made it's first (apperance?) The gang was trying to cross a tar pit so they could play Sharptooth Attack!
And that idea is genious Kor! But now the question becomes who has enough knowledge to do it? :huh:

I"m not sure. Who seems to be the resident LBT experts that folks know of? Maybe 2 or more can collaborate on that, fill in knowledge the other lacks or missed.

It could be. I just wonder what section would be best for that sort if information stuff. Maybe a subsection within Sequelitis maybe. Doubt they'd like a separate section.

I think a topic like that should be in the Sequelitis section or even in the 1988 Theatrical Release section due to the firsts of those terms (like Bright Circle and the name of the different dinosaurs species are mentioned there) and it should be pinned :yes

It depends on if it'll be just one file with only a sort of glossary. If it'll be separate sections like places, species, basic glassary of words and phrases & stuff like that then maybe giving it it's own sub section in either the movie or sequelitis maybe. Not sure which admin may be best to mention these ideas we've discussed here to.

Petrie is the head. Why not go to the top. Though if they don't like hearing from us normal users maybe maybe Aves is the better one to approach, as a mod he has higher standing and they'd may not mind hearing ideas from him. I don't really know any of of the admin so I've no idea who is the best one to approach. I think I'll pm Aves since he's a mod he may not mind being approached by one of us normal members.

Perhaps, but with some of the bad experiences I've had on some forums, mucks, mushes, mux's concerning admin, It may be best that I pm Aves. He's a mod, and maybe more open to hearing from us normal members, and I've talked to him online a decent amount before about various subjects.

Aves in my opinion is the best one for this task...but we will still need someone who is knowledgeable in the Great Valley layout.

I've pmed him. As for who is best. Maybe someone who as seen the LBT a lot. Malte would be one of those likely. He seems very knowledgeable, and with the way he does detailed posts he'd be very unlikely to overlook details that should be mentioned. Thought I'm sure many could contribute.

Well, I'm all ears about the idea, explain to me how this 'glossary' would look, and I'll see what I can do about building one, or setting up an area for the users to build it themselves.

Either like that or another type maybe. Maybe simple like:
Ground Stars - Similar to tree stars but grow on a bush. Appeared in the Hermit of Black Rock.
Sweet Bubbles - The favorite food of Ruby, and apparently Mr Clubtail. They are what we would call grapes.
Tree Stars - The favorite food of dinosaurs. They are so called since they are shaped much like a ....
Not sure what ideas other folks may have.

Yes, I want. Cause it would be sad. I don¥t really have time to play her. Excample. I was one day away and there was a whole new page in the rp to read. This RP is simple to activ for me (and I have also a problem because my native language isn¥t english) that I can play Ruby that well. I am sorry. :(

Maybe to keep track of Spike you can give him a sentence in nearly all of your posts. Even if just a simple one, While the others are Spike took a few steps to start eating the leaves off of a nearby bush, or something of that nature.

Maybe someone else could play as your characters until you get back, then let you take over again?

Maybe someone can volunteer to do a summary of what has been going on since you left when you get back. They can do it here, or by pm if you'd rather they do that. That way you can more easily get back into the rp.

Maybe instead of letting 1 person do all the characters, depending on how many you have, you can see if some players may want to do 1-2 of the characters.
