I probably only have around 400 books. I'm just guessing of course. How many do you have?
-
*Only* 400 books? That's probably more than we have, but I never counted.
-
You'd be surprised. I thought I only had like 100 of them, but when I counted them, it came up to 439 or something like that.
-
Disregarding magazines, players' guides, and instruction booklets, I came up with 6 books.
-
Of the books I own, I've at least 10.
-
Counting textbooks, maybe a dozen. Not counting textbooks...zero, as far as I know. :p Where's the zero option on the poll?
-
You're an admin, you shoehorn it in somehow. :lol
-
I own a total of 10 books. But if you count mangas, then I own 30 books XD
-
I don't understand how so many of you don't have a lot of books. They're not that expensive new and used they're even cheaper. I have only read about 15 of my books. I'm not a big reader and most of my books are well over 1000 pages. I only read to acquire information so I only needed those 15 or so books to attain the necessary knowledge that I required at the time.
-
A typical book costs around $14-$15, though I have seen some cheaper, and definitely some over $20, sometimes even $40. At least that's how it is around here. Books are pretty expensive for me, so I don't get them much. That and I rarely find a book that catches my interest. I never bought a book for logic, although I will try to buy an animal book for the pictures to help me with my drawings and to inspire some new characters and designs.
-
HOLY CRAPOLA! The max I ever spend on a new book is $6.95 and used it's $1-3. You must think that I was drunk when I made my last post. There's no way I'd be paying that much for a book!
-
About 1000. I have a four ft. tall, 12 ft. long bookshelv I added to my apartment and its filled with books. Not to mention that my room is filled with them, as is the living room and my computer room (also one of the closets). That's not mentioning the books I left behind at my mom and dad's house.
-
The most I've spent on a book was over $20. The latest book I got was a dinosaur fact book, and it was on sale for, like, $5.
A thousand books? That's the most amount of books I've heard anyone say they've got.
-

me too. What are ya, the biggest book worm in the world?
-
I never counted all of my books, but they are certainly more than 500. Many of them are nonfictions. Some of the books I bought for my interest in history are very old books which are no longer reprinted. The most expensive one I got was 80 Euros. Books are really something wonderful and mean more to me than just means of aquiring information. I am in the lucky situation of living in a region with many BIG libraries around as well as some institutes where you can study old print medias.
-
There's probably more than the fore-mentioned 6 around my place. That's just my books. It's probably even less than that, but that's beside the point... in a way.
-
Just having books, no matter how many, is of little value though. I heard of people who buy whole shelfes full of books just for the looks of them. They buy those books without the remotest intention of ever opening them. There are even people who buy shelves with fake book spines so it looks as if they had all the classical literature standng on their shelves while in fact is is just a bit of cardboard with a picture of books spines on it. That is really pathetic!

I've seen this, too. It's really stupid.

i've got about 83. i had LOADS more when i was a kid but i had to sell most of them at a bootsale when we had to move house.
-
i only have about 10-15 not including magizines. I'm not that big of a reader so thats why i have so few books.
-
I read books from the public library system in the area (there's multiple ones) so I've read many many more than I buy. $10-$15 is not unusual for paperback these days.
-
I have a ton of books. Mainly math books. There are some fiction books.
-
I have quite a few books. I didn't vote since I've no idea how many I have. Some are fiction, some non fiction. Many are collected comic book runs.
-
the only books I am really reading and which are my best ones are: Creepers by David Morrell, D‰mon by Matthew Delaney, and Puls by Stephen King
-
Fake books on shelves? That does sound odd. I can see a movie, tv, or play set doing that but a person in a house, odd. But I guess it does keep them happy.
Sorry, was reading through the thread and came across that, a very odd thing I've not heard of.

I see this all the time, but it's normally in stores that sell furniture, not people's homes.
-
ah, I thought you meant actual homes, like those of your friends, friend's of friends, parents of your friends, stuff like that.
-
How many books do I have? Ooh boy...you ma as well ask how many books the loca library has, because I think I've actually beaten them out when it comes t quantity.
-
And did you read all of your books?
-
I definitely have at least fifty books. The human body fascinates me, so most of my books are on anatomy & physiology and psychology. Dinosaur books are a must, and a few Stephen King books make up the rest of my collection. Now, the number of hand-written stories I've done(we're talking notebooks full) outnumber my number of books :P:.
-
I used to have over a hundred books when I was younger, but after moving around Virginia and Maryland, I had to give most of them up. :cry2
-
I have over 100... on 1 bookshelf!
Total is probably in the 200+ range.
I kept most of my books and I've been an avid reader all my life.
You'll find everything from books on toxicology to strategy guides to children's books to contemporary fiction to classics and almost everything in between.
-

Ya live in VA, too? What part?

I used to live in the Hampton Roads area (pretty close to the North Carolina border).

I learned about that several years ago. Thanks! :D

Me, I have somewhere around 60-80, I think. Most of them are packed away, though, so I can't count them. As for books read, on the other hand...I couldn't even begin to count that. Somewhere in the mid thousands, probably. I was a massive bookworm when I was younger. Now, I don't have that much time to read.
-
Probably over 300 (possibly even 400). Strategy guides (true and print outs) and text books are counted. If packed away books are counted, possibly in excess of 500.
As an estimate, 1 bookshelf is completely packed with books (some are even double shelved and stacked on top of each other). Another bookshelf is also packed with books (except the top row - not double shelved at all). These are also large book cases (a 5 and 6 tier bookcase with over 8 inches of book space)
-
I should update this. Since I moved to Minnesota, I've gotten rid of a lot of books. If I had to guess I'd say I have about 80 or so now. Most of them are packed away. Of the ones I do have out they include:
*Business For Dummies :lol
*PC Technicians Troubleshooting Pocket Reference
*A C++ programming book
*Learn Javascript In 24 Hours
*PC Hardware Repair 2005
As you can see, still not a lot of recreational reading. :p

I have a ton of books. Mainly math books. There are some fiction books.
I would say that my collection of books has not only grown, but the majority of my books is now fantasy/science fiction.
-
I'd like to pick up some more nonfiction books but I just find the internet so much cheaper for finding interesting information so I just tend to use that...though it would be nice to read something not on a screen. :)
-
I count my books when I organise my book case in alphabetical order either in author form or genre form, it varies. Above all worldly goods that has come from society, I think books are very important. Books can be friends, they can expand your imagination and take you to islands, out of space, back in time or to Middle Earth;). I have a vast amount of genres ranging from a few children's (still trying to find Dilly the Dinosaur), crime, fantasy, historical, classical and non fiction (so text subject books) which are mostly on ancient history or lions (I had a lion obsession a couple of year ago). The last count which was after April was 375. I know that I have purchased a few new books over the months so, will have to re count. After all, I am an avid reader. I apologise if that seemed rather boring.
-
Not a big fan of books, I only have one that I bought when I was on 5th grade. "Rukaj‰rven tie" or "Ambush".
-
Only my textbooks
-
Oh, definitely over 100 books. ^^ hehe
-
385!
I really need to stop buying and asking for books...soon I will not have a place to put any of them and I'll probably be requiring a new bookcase.;)
-
I put 1000+, but that includes comics. Without them, it is about 400-500.
