Umm..here is a recipe for "Custom Kitchen" Cornflake Biscuits.

100g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
1 egg
150g (1 cup) self-raising flour
45g (1/4 cup) sultanas
Pinch salt
60g (2 cups) cornflakes, crushed slightly.

METHOD
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

Step 2
Use electric beaters to beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until pale and creamy. Beat in the egg. Fold in the flour, sultanas and salt and mix until well combined.

Step 3
Place the cornflakes in a bowl. Spoon slightly heaped tablespoonfuls of the butter mixture into the cornflakes. Toss the mixture gently in the cornflakes to coat and form balls.

LBT Fanfiction / The Mountain's Omen
« on: August 28, 2017, 03:28:11 AM »
Hi,

So I am re-writing  Descendants of the Mountains cause I no longer enjoyed that version of the storyline.

This re-write is still AU but follows more movie canon which you'll see.

Nahla has been re-designed and is now named Shani as Shani means 'adventure or curious'. Nahla's sister been scrapped and you'll notice other major changes if you did read the original.

Anything I have a little prologue for you.

Summary
Fed up with being forced to blindly follow her ancestors way, a young longneck runs from the only home she has known. Upon finding the Great Valley she feels she has stumbled upon a whole new world. Quickly befriending local kids her age she puts her past life behind her. But when dreams of horror haunt one of her new friends she realises Littlefoot and her are the only hope.

Prologue

The night circle was full and shone down brightly to the land below, large shapes moved around muttering quietly to each other. Some stood to the side gazing at a large flat rock. Onto this rock another shape stepped, it's large body sent dust that had settled upon the surface to fly into the air.

The longneck gazed at the others, their eyes full of wisdom from all the years they had seen. Clearing their throat the great creature spoke "My friends, it is time for a speaking."

The other longnecks turned towards the one who had spoke and dipped their heads in respect, "Ancestors above us, watch over us night and light our paths." they spoke in unison.

A young female rose her head, and looked at the night sky tilting her head. Could her ancestors really be watching down on her? If they were, were they really as smart as everyone thought? After all they were just longnecks like her, it's not like dying made a dumb dinosaur suddenly wise.

"Shani, are you paying attention?"

The longneck turned to face the longneck that spoken, her mother gazed at her sternly. Shani dipped her head "Sorry, mother. I was just wondering about the ancestors, do they really guide us?"

The older longneck looked taken back for a moment before replying "Of course they do! Why would you ask such a thing?" by this point all the others gathered were looking at the mother and daughter.

The one upon the rock spoke "Nani is everything all right?" the elderly male said glancing down at the young child at the mother's side.

Nani dipped her head "Shani was just..wondering...about the ancestors." she replied giving her daughter a quick glare.

"Well if she paid attention..she would know. Now..in the tradition of our ancestors..." the elder male began.

Shani jumped to her feet "Why do we have to do everything in the name of our ancestors? They are just dead dinosaurs, not like it makes them smart or powerful it's the living that we should be honouring!"

Gasps echoed throughout the gathered dinosaurs, cries of "How could she?" "Children these days..no respect.." "She was always a troublemaker that Shani." came with shocked tones.

Nani bent her head in embarrassment from her daughters outburst, taking a deep breath she rose and faced the others "Forgive my daughter friends, she did not mean such disrespect she did just not think of what was coming from her mouth."

Lashing her tail Shani growled "No, I am not sorry. If these ancestors are real and so powerful, they can come and prove it. But until then I refuse to follow some dead guys like a lost hatchling just because they lived here once." turning tail she left the others behind ignoring the cries of dismay.

"SHANI!" Nani cried trying to give chase but losing her more agile daughter in the undergrowth.

"SHANI!"

Sports / Is Equestrian a Sport?
« on: June 26, 2017, 06:30:46 AM »
What do you guys think about this?

I am an Equestrian and I do believe its a sport. However if you just ride a dead broke horse on a guided trail ride on a set path. Yeah not a sport then.

I compete in Eventing which is Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping spread across one to three days.

Both me and horses have to be in top condition to compete. I have to have the strength to guide a 1100 pound animal around a course and jump fences or perform a movement on cue. When done right it does look easy that's the goal to make it look effortless.

During competition season both me and horses are on a strict fitness program. I don't just climb on a horse and go jump a course no. That is not how it works.

But I guess if we can't consider Equestrian a sport we shouldn't consider motor racing one either. I mean all you do is drive a car.

Reason I'm bringing this up is as I read they were thinking of dropping Equestrian events from the Olympics since many think it's not a sport.

I wanna put all the people who think riding is easy and horses are just dumb animals on my 5 year old Arabian and see how long they stay on it.

Anyway what you think. Sport or no?

I believe it to be the most dangerous sport in the world.
I know someone who died when her horse stumbled and landed on her.

Also the fact my horses could kill me easily.
One kick to the head and that would all it'll take.

Hey all, I'm back. I been popping on making like one post then vanishing again for a while but I decided to come back properly this time.

I been busy, as a adult of society I must do adult things and adult which is kinda boring. Before you ask yes I am still doing my horse thing, I am never giving that up. I did fall off last week though, I was stiff for days afterwards.

I've been well, it's nearing Winter in Australia so getting prepared for that by stocking up on hay and getting my horses blankets ready.

It's my 21st Birthday next Wednesday but I'll be spending it alone..my friends have work or classes. My horses are my party guests. I'll be having a party on the weekend though, but my actual Birthday..it'll just be me my horses, dogs and cats.

This what happens when you don't have much human interaction.

Hope everyone is well.

The Fridge / RIP 'Lassie'
« on: February 04, 2017, 10:56:07 PM »
Once again life has came and slapped me across the face.

On the night of 1st of this month my elder dog Lassie took a sudden turn, she collapsed and was unable to stand again her back legs completely stopped working.

I had to hold her up just so she could drink, sadly my town doesn't have a 24 hour vet office so there was nothing I could do at the time.

I stayed up all night with her and knew she was in agony, she yelped and howled all through the night. It broke my heart seeing this.

Soon as the vets open in the morning I rushed her in only to have my heart broken. Lassie was dying and it wasn't going to be a peaceful death.

I opted to put her to sleep that morning, I was with her stroking her head as she took her final breaths.

It didn't fully hit me until I reached my car and it was then I broke down.

I am 20 now and got Lassie when I was 6. That is 14 years by my side and on that day I had to choose to end her life.

I get comfort in knowing I did the right thing for Lassie, I just miss her so much she was a member of my family, all my animals are part of my family for me losing Lassie was like losing my oldest child.

As I write this I'm  half expecting for her to poke her head around the corner. My other animals seem to know Lassie is gone.

R.I.P Lassie, you're not suffering anymore. Goodbye my friend.

Can I have something good happen to me...please..?

The Fridge / Ants in Pets food?
« on: December 17, 2015, 11:23:38 PM »
Hello was wondering if anyone had any advice for this matter.

The last few mornings when I put food down for my dogs, I always only put enough down for them to eat in one sitting, the first morning I whistled for them but they didn't seem hungry. One of them ate a bit out of their bowl and seemed to just nibble on it so left the food be, and did my housework. 30 minutes later I came back to see ants all through both bowls, making me need to throw out the food. I gave the bowls a scrub out and re-filled them since my dogs barely ate any of it, they ate it all fine, so I gave the bowls a wipe out and put them up until the next feed.

Now every morning when I put food down for my pets I'll go do housework and at least one bowl will have them crawling, it only happens for their morning feed strangely enough. But thats most likely my pets will eat all the food at once for their midday and night feeds.

It's getting a real pain to keep throwing out the food all the time, I'm going to buy those ant-proof trays but they are out of stock until the New Year, I had one for years and it worked great, no ants at all but it got a giant crack in it so had to toss it.

Anyone know of a temporary fix until I can get the trays? It's getting wasteful to keep throwing the food out, I keep the food stored in tubs designed mainly for pet food, nothing gets into it there, but soon as I put it down in a bowl it's an invasion.

I'm gonna spray the area my pets eat, just trying to find something that won't be chemical for my pets and lots of stuff I looked at so far is.

The ants only to seem to be after my dogs kibble. They don't bother my cats dry food.

If anyone ever had ants in their pets food bowls, please tell me how you can fix it.

Travel / "Adventuring" / Great Barrier Reef, yay.
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:51:30 PM »
On the 15th I'll be heading off to the Great Barrier Reef, so excited the GBR is so beautiful.

I'll have an underwater camera, so I'll take photos and spam you guys with them. I'm hoping to find at least one Clownfish so I can say I found Nemo (don't judge me). Just hoping I don't get stung by a Stonefish or something, they'll be terrible cause those things are venomous as hell.

I am looking forward to seeing all the different marine life, just the venomous ones can stay far far away from me, thank you. Like Blue-ringed octopus, those things are freaky..and deadly..nope for me.

Also supposed to go in one of those cage things and get up close with a shark (with an expert with me of course) but lets see how close I let the shark get before running screaming back to the boat, shall we?

The Fridge / You have gotta be kidding..
« on: November 30, 2015, 03:21:41 AM »
I just need to vent about this a little bit because it pissed me off so much I need to let it out.

I volunteer at a horse rescue and some of the horses we get there have been very abused and neglected, some are surrenders and we also re-train retired racehorses to be pleasure mounts.

One of my favorite horses is a ex-racehorse gelding named Buddy, he is super sweet I love him. He had been at the rescue for about a year when a lady and her daughter came to the rescue looking for a horse, Buddy was perfect for them. The owner of the rescue went out and checked their land though it was 2 towns over she always wants the best for horses, it seemed perfect, they seemed perfect so she let Buddy go on lease clearly stating if they ever need to return him Buddy will always be welcomed back.

For a while it was great, the people leasing Buddy called and gave updates, sent photos and Buddy was perfectly happy there it seemed. I was so happy he was adopted as that meant we had more room to help other horses that needed it.

However soon the owners went dead, the owner tried ringing them but their number was disconnected. Frustrated she drove up there on Saturday to where there land was since she was going there anyway, and there was Buddy.

Skin and bones, standing in a field of mud with no grass, the fencing was broken and to top it off, the headcollar was growing into his face they made it way too tight.

The owner called the police, and since she was the rightful owner she got to take Buddy and bring him back, the leasers daughter it seems 'lost interest' and the mother couldn't afford to care for him anyway. The mother was charged with animal neglect.

If they could not afford him, why on earth did they just not bring him back. Why leave him to suffer like that? Also why on earth did you get a horse if you were not prepared to pay for it. Horses are big expensive animals, they are not a goldfish, they are not a budgie. They are horses.

Needless to say, the lady is now not only blocked from adopting a horse but from adopting any animal in the area including dogs, cats etc.

If you 'rescue' an animal and then give it an awful life, did you really rescue it or did you just make it worse? The latter, if I got a dog from the shelter that was going to be put then tied it in my backyard never feed it and just beat, did I really save it? Nope.

Buddy is now starting rehabilitation. I'm seriously tempted to adopt him myself and put him in my pasture with my horse, Skittles.

I find it stupid we need a licence to drive a car, ID to buy alcohol yet anyone can just take on a living animal without any requirements just because they want one.

Can someone invent an animal licence please.

Silver Screen / Animated Does NOT Mean 'Childish'
« on: August 25, 2015, 03:29:20 AM »
I can't be the only least slightly annoyed by this..

I was watching Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin (amazing anime by the way) and my brother comes and comments "why you watching baby stuff?"

Baby stuff? So Characters getting gored, heads cut off, swearing is for babies now?

It seems to me some people have the idea that animated=for children, I find that stupid myself. There are lots of animated movies that are in no way suitable for children.

*cough cough* Felidae *cough cough*

Those who have seen or heard about Felidae will know exactly what I mean.

And even if I am watching a kids movie, so what. Last time I checked things like The Land Before Time or The Lion King didn't have a 'you must be under this age to watch this movie' requirement.

It really does irk me when if something is animated it is automatically thought to be for children even when the movie has more adult themes then some non-animated films out there targeted for adults.

I personally prefer animation or live action, animation takes much more time and work to get the whole movie together, but according to some people that makes me 'childish'. Ugh, whatever I'll just roll with and go with the flow I guess.

Does this bother anyone else or am I just nit picking at things that don't matter? Well..that latter one does happen..an awful lot but lets pretend it doesn't.

Sports / 37 Years of History Broken
« on: June 06, 2015, 09:14:16 PM »
Now I am not a horse racing fan at all (mainly what happens to the horses when they retire) but I did watch the Belmont Stakes today and witnessed what is the first American Triple Crown winner in 37 years. the first of this generation.

I do not know much about American horse racing, but I'm aware that winning this is a huge deal, only 12 horses in history have won.

'American Pharoah led all the way to win the Belmont Stakes by 5 1/2 lengths on Saturday, becoming the first horse in 37 years to sweep the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes ó one of the sporting world’s rarest feats.

The bay colt with the unusually short tail defeated seven rivals in the grueling 1 1/2-mile race, covering the distance in 2:26.65 to end the longest stretch without a Triple Crown champion in history.

American Pharoah is the 12th horse and first since Affirmed in 1978 to win three races on different tracks at varying distances over a five-week span. He won the Derby by one length on May 2 and then romped to a seven-length victory in the rainy Preakness two weeks later.

Trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Victor Espinoza ended their own frustrating histories in the Triple Crown. Baffert finally won on his record fourth Triple try, having lost in 1997, 1998 (by a nose) and in 2002. Espinoza got it done with his record third shot after failing to win in 2002 and last year on California Chrome.

Frosted finished second and Keen Ice was third.

American Pharoah delivered a victory for Egyptian-born owner Ahmed Zayat, who bred the colt and put him up for sale before buying him back for $300,000. His name came courtesy of the family’s online contest, in which a woman from Missouri submitted the winning moniker, but the misspelling wasn’t noticed until the name was already official

American Pharoah joined the ranks of Triple Crown winners Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977) and Affirmed.

The crowd of 90,000 ó capped to avoid overcrowding and long lines from last year’s total of 102,199 ó roared as American Pharoah turned for home in front.

As he neared the finish line, drinks were tossed in the air and fans jumped up and down in celebration, many holding their camera phones aloft to capture history on a sunny, 75-degree day at Belmont Park. It’s unlikely the champion heard them since American Pharoah wears ear plugs to block noise that might get him worked up.

American Pharoah extended his winning streak to seven races. He matched the accomplishment of his grand-sire, Empire Maker, who won the 2003 Belmont, spoiling Funny Cide’s Triple Crown bid.

Since 1978, the rigors of the Triple Crown had done in 13 other horses who won the Derby and the Preakness ó with 12 losing the third leg and I’ll Have Another scratched with a leg injury in 2012. Their failures left the sport and its fans craving a worthy successor to the 11 previous champions.

American Pharoah ó his tail shortened after being bitten off on the farm as a youngster ó turned out to be that horse. He awed observers with his speed and a fluid, springloaded stride in which he appeared to float over the ground.

He was 2-year-old champion last year, and virtually cinched similiar honors for his achievements as a 3-year-old this year.

Unlike Affirmed, who dueled Alydar in all three races, American Pharoah didn’t have a specific rival since he was only horse to run in all three Triple Crown races. Going into the Belmont, American Pharoah had beaten all of his seven challengers before.

Five of his rivals lost to him in the Derby, then skipped the Preakness to await the Belmont, a competitive advantage to horses that didn’t endure the three-race grind. Tale of Verve finished second in the Preakness to American Pharoah, who had beaten Madefromlucky in the Rebel Stakes in March.

American Pharoah became the first horse since Afleet Alex in 2005 to run in all three races and win the Belmont, known as “The Test of the Champion.”'

I just hope they let the horse rest now, poor thing must be exhausted.

No idea why I am posting this but I guess it's pretty cool that is has broken history, and horse racing is a 'sport'..I guess...

The Written Word / Don't Dial The Devil
« on: June 02, 2015, 12:57:44 AM »
I was speaking to a classmate of mine during lunch the other day and she told me about a nightmare she had that she said scared her a lot, I thought about it and since I'm wanting to get back into writing asked if she would mind letting me use the idea for a short story. She said fine as long as the real names were not used.

This is just a short little 'horror' story. Based off this classmates nightmare but I changed it to make it sound more like a story, and the names as she requested.

Anyway, onward shall we?

~

I sighed and blew a stray strand of hair out of my face, then rolled over and peered over the top of the bunk.

Jodie lay on the bed below me, reading some crappy book about romance, and when she noticed me staring at her she glanced up. "Why are you staring at me?"

"This is boring, Jodie. I know that you were excited to come to this holiday park for your birthday, but there's nothing to do. Plus, Sam won't stop talking to 'The Mystery Guy', so that wrecks the fun for all three of us," I replied, drawing out and emphasizing the 'boring' part.

Jodie smirked when I said 'The Mystery Guy.' It was the name that we had given to the boy that Sam wouldn't stop talking to. When she did stop talking to him and decided to chat with us (now that was a rare occurrence) she acted like he didn't exist, and when we asked her about him she refused to talk. The only words about him that we had managed to get out of her was that we must never ring him. Ha! As if we know his number anyway!

"Don't worry, we'll be going home soon," Jodie said, and looked down at the bright pink watch on her wrist. "Hey... Sam's said that she's going to be out for a while on her daily walk... what do you think about ringing 'The Mystery Guy'? Sam'll never know."

I sat bolt upright, smacking my head on the roof and cursing along the way. Damn, the cabin roof in this stupid holiday park was the lowest frikin' roof I've ever seen. "Didn't you listen to Sam yesterday? She said we must never ring him. Anyway, we don't know his number."

"When we first came here I saw Sam looking at a piece of paper and typing into her phone. I bet that if we find that piece of paper, we'll find his number. I think I saw her put it in her bag. And stop being so paranoid - Sam probably just thinks that we'll steal him from her."

I climbed down the bunk ladder just as Jodie rolled out of her bed. "Well..."

"Come on," Jodie said impatiently, pausing in the room's doorway. "She'll be back in about an hour."

We walked into Sam's room - just across the narrow cabin hallway - and Jodie started to search her bag while I checked the bedside drawers. After a few minutes of searching, Jodie drew her hand out of the bag an held up a small, crumpled slip of paper. "Bingo!"

I came over to her and read the writing underneath a phone number; 'DO NOT DIAL UNLESS YOU ARE SAM BROWN."

I shivered, and my eyes widened as I noticed that the middle part of the phone number contained the numbers '666'. That was way too creepy to be incidental.
"Jodie..." I started, meaning to tell her that I thought it was a bad idea and that we should just leave it, but she had already whipped out her phone and had typed the number in.

She turned the phone to loudspeaker, and we listened as the phone rang. Once... twice... three times... and on the fourth ring, a man answered the phone.

His voice was deep and contained a faint Russian accent - it made him sound like how I imagined Count Dracula to sound.

"Hello?" he said, "who is this and why have you called?"

Jodie plunged straight into it. "Hiya. I'm Jodie, a friend of Sam's. I wanted to know who you are - Sam is always speaking to you, but she never tells us about you. Sorry if your relationship with
Sam is private, I really can be nosy sometimes-"

"You shouldn't have called," the man interrupted, and hung up.

Jodie grunted and switched off her phone. "Rude!"

I released my breath - I hadn't realized that I had been holding it - then gasped as I saw Jodie punching his number in again. "No, come on, he doesn't want to talk. Let's not make him angry, he could tell Sam. Then she would never forgive us."

Jodie sighed moodily and threw her phone onto Sam's bed, picking it up a moment later. "Sometimes I wonder why I'm friends with Sam. She doesn't tell me anything."

The next day we returned home, and you can't imagine how relieved I felt. Finally! My own bed, good food, and entertaining things to do.

As soon as we walked into our apartment (Jodie and I shared one) I flopped down onto a blue bean bag in front of our flat screen TV, and felt around the carpet with my hands until I found the remote. As I clicked on the TV, I noticed that the cute rabbit statue that Jodie had put on top of the cabinet where the TV lay was missing. Frowning, I called out to Jodie. "Hey, where's the rabbit statue that you put on the cabinet? Did you move it before we went to that holiday park?"

I heard Jodie dump her suitcase onto her bed, and then the thud thud thud of footsteps coming down the hallway. "No, I don't remember moving it. Are you sure you didn't?"

I stared at the spot where the rabbit had been four days previously. "No... maybe one of us moved it without realizing. I'm sure we'll find it later."
I wasn't as confident as I tried to sound, though. How could it just disappear?

We didn't notice it at first. It just started with the small, insignificant things that we barely used. But over a few days we noticed that more noticeable items were disappearing. For instance, I woke up one morning and flopped into the bean bag, holding up the TV remote to flick on the TV - only to realize that there was no TV.

After that morning we called in the cops, and explained what had been happening. Everything in the house was disappearing, one by one. But the cops couldn't do much - there was no fingerprints anywhere in the house, and regular passer-bys of the building had never seen anyone enter or leave out apartment except us.

The police said they would put a watch on this house, and I guess that was something. The only problem was it didn't work.

Things continued to disappear from the house, and it got to the point where if you so much as took your eyes off an object for a split second, it would be gone.

On the fourth day of being home I walked up to where Jodie (who was sitting in an old vintage chair that her dad had given her) was staring at an empty space in the cabinet where the TV used to be.

"Jodie," I started, "this can't be incidental. The days after we ring 'The Mystery Guy', all these things disappear. And the note had said the we shouldn't ring unless we were Sam. I think that whoever was on the other end of the line is the one who's causing all this."

Jodie laughed a bit, but I could detect a touch of nervousness in it. "But he couldn't steal all of this stuff. Some of it's disappearing right from under our noses. And how could we not hear someone open the door to our apartment, walk in, and walk back out while carrying a TV? It's just not possible."

"Maybe... maybe he's not what we think he is. Maybe he's something else." My eyes widened and my heart stopped. I had just remembered something. "Jodie, where the hell is that bombshell that your grandfather gave you?"

Jodie's eyes widened as well, and we dashed to her room.

Scrabbling frantically around the mess in there, I pushed myself to the ground and flipped up the bed sheet that was hiding the underneath of the bed from view. "Phew! Jodie - it's here!"

Helping each other, we managed to drag the bombshell out. It was old and faded, and Jodie's grandfather had left it to Jodie when he passed away. He had managed to obtain it for some old war, and had kept it as a 'souvenir'. I still don't know why he was allowed to keep it if he knew how to make it work again.

"Jodie, we can't let this out of our sight. What if he really is something else, and he figures out a way to reload this bomb? He could use it against us, or other people in the city," I said.

Jodie nodded. "We'll take turns keeping watch. You can't look away from it. You take first watch - you're less tired than me. Call me when an hour's up, and I'll come and take over."

I grimaced and shook my head slightly. "But how long will this go on for? We could have to watch this thing for years."

"I'll called the cops in the morning," Jodie replied, "and then they can keep watch of it. It's too late now - I'm pretty much falling asleep."

Jodie moved out of the room, and I kept my gaze fastened on the bomb shell.
Fifteen minutes passed. Then thirty. Then forty. Somewhere around the forty-five minute mark, my eyelids started to droop, and no matter how much I tried I just couldn't keep my eyes open.
I swear I only fell asleep for a second - but then again, that was all the time that he needed to take the shell. When I opened my eyes again, the bomb was gone.

"Jodie!" I screamed, leaping to my feet and glancing hectically around me,"the bomb's gone!"
After a moment Jodie came stumbling into her room - she had been sleeping on the couch - and gasped. "Oh no."

A high pitched whistling sound suddenly started, and we both clapped our hands over our ears in a vain attempt to block it out. It seemed like an eternity passed, but it was only a few seconds until a sound as loud as thunder crashed over our heads, and fire sprang up and danced around us.

I kept blacking out, but each time I woke it was different snippets of time; the sound of wood crashing down outside the room; Jodie frantically trying to open her bedroom door; flame engulfing most of the room; Jodie on fire, her skin bubbling, clothes turning to ash and her screams; Jodie laying on the floor, her figure almost unrecognizable as she slowly died a painful death.

I felt the flames charring my skin, and my blood felt like it was on fire. I could feel my life ebbing away.

This is it. This is the end, a voice in my head whispered. And then a very real, deep, Russian-accented voice filled the room.

"Don't Dial The Devil."

Like I said this was based on a nightmare, but being insane as I am took it to a whole new level of insanity.

And with that said, I never write horror or hardly even read it so this was a small attempt at it.

Wrote this over the weekend, pretty happy with it but then again what do I know about writing.

Role Play Discussion / After the End

This was going to me a 1x1 RP between Zimba and myself, but we decided why not have others join. Would be more interesting.

We've ignored the warning signs, we continued cutting down forests, polluting our own homes. Nobody thought it would happened, until it happened.

Now there is nothing left, everything you once held dear is gone, our homes are nothing more then rumble, our loved ones buried somewhere in all that destruction.

A few of us were spared, we're the only ones who can save humanity from being lost forever. But how can we carry on now? How can we rebuild everything we have lost?

But as they say, one thing's ending. Is another things beginning.

Yes, this is a post-Doomsday thingy. But I'm hoping it can be made interesting.

Not all details are sorted yet, just a basic plotline.

No clue where this RP will be based in, I guess it'll just be an unnamed place or we can make one up or use a real life city/country what ever.

Would anyone else be interested in doing this with us?

And no, this is not based of the movie 2012. Just thought I'd say.

It's Party Time! / Boys vs Girls
« on: February 23, 2015, 01:45:53 AM »
So we all love a  good old battle of the sexes, right?

Well heres how this work.

You state your gender then add to the genders number.

Example

Person 1: Girls-1
Person 2:-Girls-2

But if someone of the other gender comes along the count of that gender resets.

Example.

Person 3: Girls-3
Person 4:-Boys-1
Person 5: Girls-1

First to 50 wins then it's on to the next round.

See who can come out on top the most, will it be the ladies or the gentlemen?

Remember if  girls are winning and the guys post. The girls score is wiped and then must start over again, same with the guys even if you're at 49 and then a girl comes along before you get 50. Your score is wiped and your back at 1.

I don't think I need to tell you's no cheating.

Guess I get to start.

Girls-1

The Fridge / Off to College

Yes me...who would of thought?

Sometime last year I applied for funding and today I found out it has been approved and the first semester is completely covered for me, first semester lasts for 6 months and the course can be completed in one semester...thank goodness.

Course I do have to pay the money back, but that won't be a worry until I have completed my studies and completed my course.

I'm going for my Animal Care and Studies certificate, I'm living my childhood dream.

I need  a job so why not have the one that is my passion?

Whats the point of a job that I have no heart in? Even if it's the best paying job in the job, what would be the point when I could be doing what I love?

Luckily for me, I live in the town the campus is on and it's a 15 minute drive from my house. So I don't have to worry about living arrangements. I'll go there in the morning and go home in the afternoon so home life will not change one bit...until I feel ready to move out away from my parents that is but..one step at time guys..one step at a time.

I start next Thursday and I'm both excited and scared, whole new world is now opening to me. I've broken away from my parents controlling hold and become the person I want to be.

No idea why I'm posting this here but I guess it's cause this is the best thing to happen to me in years. I've finally stopped living in fear and getting myself out there. Making my life what I want it to be, not what others make it for me.

And I find it irony-my brother thought he would always be better then me.

He works at the supermarket
I'm going to college.

So, HAH to him.

Guess it's official now. I'm a grown woman now and heading to college.

The years go by faster the older you get, I swear they do...I'll be 19 this year. And to me, thats scary. I always thought life would be easier when I was older.

Boy was I wrong, it's way more difficult. But hey, I got my independence and adult rights. Can do anything adults can do..expect smoke. Yep can do everything but that, not that I want to do that anyway..no thank you.

Next Thursday will be the start of what I hope will be a great future and life for myself.

Nahla's newest challenge: Survive college. But I know I can do it. I have to, if I fail this..all my dreams will be shattered then what would I do with my life then.

Hey guys, welcome to Nahla's newest attempt at writing some-what decent fanfiction.

This idea was in my head for a while, and since it's a brand new year decided to finally write it. It is a love story yes,but it doesn't start off as one instantly as you shall see.

This first chapter will be the shortest chapter in the whole story most likely,so yes they will be longer then this.

Enjoy.

Chapter 1: Change

One thing that is guaranteed in life is change. Be it for better or worse,no one can predict the changes nor can they stop them, one must take each change in stride.

Growning up is one major change,as a child one can not wait util this moment. When one is old they look back on the years past they wasted waiting for that day.

With older age comes more responsablity, more pressure as you watch you're carefree days of youth slolwy fade away from your grasp,it is only then you realize just how good it all was.

Whoever first said it was more then right-you truly don't know what something is worth until it's gone for good.

Littlefoot stood silent and still, ignoring the snow falling onto him. He among many valley residents just got word of the death of old Mr Thicknose. Some said it was the cold that sealed his end, some say it was just pure age or even a mixture of the two.

Littlefoot was no stranger to the fact of death, having lost his mother when he just shy of being called a hatchling.
No child should of had to face such tradgey at such a young age,but Littlefoot did. At the time it seemed life had turned against him, taking away his mother, separating him from his grandparents and leaving him alone in a cruel and unforgiving world.

Littlefoot at the time, wanted to admit defeat. He wanted to just let life win the battle, just give up. But he knew his mother would of wanted better then that, she would of wanted him to fight against it,beat the odds and live on his life.

He did just that.

Though not alone, along the way he gained friends-but not the kind of friends one would think a longneck would have.
A threehorn,a swimmer,a flyer,a spiketail,a fast runner and even a sharptooth of all creatures.

Most of his childhood memories involved them, never ones to sit around the valley they sought after adventure where ever they could. Though most of the times that also meant danger, but it is now they realize it was the danger that gave them the thrill.

The now adolescent Littlefoot still chuckles at all the trouble they got themselves into..or the trouble HE got them into he would admit with a slight smile.

Sometimes, they got foolhardy theres no denying that, but they almost always escaped serious injury. And they almost always had a goal in mind, goals their families did not always approve of.

The longnecks thoughts returned to the old thicknose, though he would always consider his mother and grandparents his greatest teachers,he still held utmost respect for Mr Thicknose, the knowledge he shared with him and his friends will forever stay with Littlefoot, though he didn't agree on everything the old dinosaur said,he respected him as much as his own grandfather, his death left a numb feeling in Littlefoot's heart.

Lowering his head to the white covered ground he remembered the first time the Great Valley experienced it.
He was just a child back then, having woken one night to see frozen skywater falling,no one believed him at first some even downright laughed at him. Had Littlefoot been one to boast,he would of have the day the whole valley woke up to see the normally green lands covered in white. Everyone then realized Littlefoot was right even old Thicknose was shocked, according to him this had never happen in the valley that day,it happened every cold time, and having leanred from what is refered to as 'the big freeze' by the valley residents.
They began stocking food supplies ahead of time when they know the day when the Time of Changing Treestars turns over into the Cold Time is drawing closer. Some famlies even begin storing for the next Cold Time after Cold Time ends.

Littlefoot rose his head just as a gust of wind forcing him to close his eyes from the sudden shock of being hit with the icy cold wind. He shook his head to restore his vision quickly lowering his head against natures forsty force.
The air had become so cold and icy it made his eyes sting,he kept his head low and clenched his teeth.
Each gust of air sent shivers through his body,he barely noticed his name being spoken.

"Littlefoot?" the old grey form of his grandfather slowly walked towards him, head low against the wind he edged towards his grandson.

"I'm here,Grandpa." Littlefoot turned to greet his grandfather "Is something wrong?"

Grandpa rose his head and looked Littlefoot in the eyes,he felt pain seeing the grief reflected in them.
He knew the death of old Mr Thicknose had troubled the younger longneck, but he also knew there was more too it. Though Littlefoot never spoke it,the old longneck knew Littlefoot wad worried about him and his grandmother.
Both were aging, and now Grandpa was officially the valley's oldest resident, his strength was not quite as good as it was in years past.

Realizing Littlefoot was waiting for an answer of some sort,Grandpa smiled in reassurance "No,nothing wrong..well nothing you don't already know of. Grandma was just worried where you went off too." he glanced up at the greying sky quickly "The weather is turning,we best be getting back or she'll worry herself sick. You know how she has been these days."

Littlefoot cracked a small smile "All these years later and see is still sending you after me..if she ever comes after me herself then I would know I really am in trouble." he joked resulting in a small shared chuckle from both grandfather and grandson.

"Come along now before we both catch a chill" Grandpa waited for Littlefoot to pass him before turning, head lowered against the elements. The wind sent a bone chilling breeze across the whole valley, the weather seemed to match the somber mood of the residents, any death in the valley was felt by all.

Grandma warmly greeted her grandson and mate, she didn't need to ask any expression on both their faces told her all she needed to know. Oh Littlefoot..if only there was something she could do to ease his worries..

"Maybe..we could move up to the hot springs..it'll be warmer up there, here we just have the worse of the cold being blown down from the mountains." Littlefoot broke the silence between the three longnecks turning pointing with his head outside the valley wear in a mountain clearing, lay the hot springs the herds often made their Cold Time home.
It offered water, food and warmth. Though the trek up the mountain was not always the easiest task, the older residents struggled with the climb up.

"A wise suggestion,my grandson. Maybe now it would be better for us to move to a place of better warmth. Though it is a bit late to make the journey now. We must wait for better light." Grandpa spoke raising his head towards the direction Littlefoot was pointing. "We can leave after the bright circle first rises tomorrow, those we wish to join us are welcomed."

"As for now, we rest up. Our bodies must work harder in The Coldtime to provide us warmth, therefore we need all the energy we can." Grandma commented nudging the younger of the three forward "Tomorrow will be a new day. The troubles of today will be in the past, such as the circle of life goes. Changes will come and changes will go"

"But why?" Littlefoot spoke up "Why do things change? Why do things change even when everyone is happy with how they are?"

The elder longnecks glanced each other, neither of them knowing what to say,Grandma stepped forward and gave her grandson an affectionate rub.

"No one knows why,Littlefoot. It just happens, the circle of life has plans for each of us,and hard times are meant to be test. Like when your mother was killed". Grandma paused with a feeling of regret at those last words as she saw Littlefoot flinch at the memory, she knew she had touched a sensitive subject but she already started so she might as well finish what she was going to say. "You were highly young, and prior to that you always had your mother, grandfather and I to care for you,you never had to fend for yourself,we ensured your survival. Then suddenly you were on your own,no one to turn to or depend on. Most young ones would of died, but not you,you found strength in numbers, you avenged your mother and found your way to the Great Valley, you and your friends beat the odds the world stacked against you in a rapidly changing world" Grandma paused and smile at her grandson "You've grown since then, into a strong, healthy longneck. Your mother would be proud, your grandfather and I too have to accept a huge change that's happening in front of our very eyes."

Confusion spread across Littlefoot's face "What do you mean,Grandma? What else is changing?"

"You're growing up,you're not longer the small child we can just pick up and carry around..soon you will no longer need us..you'll move on and live a life of your own..start your own family..." tears started escaping the old females eyes, she was dreading the day she would have to let Littlefoot go,Littlefoot was all she had left, raising him is what gave her her purpose in life, she knew Littlefoot would one day grow up and would want to start his own family, but wanted to keep Littlefoot with her as long as she could, all her children were long gone, and Littlefoot being the old grandchild to make it to hatching,he looked so much like his father yet had his mother's heart and spirit, every time she looked into Littlefoot's eyes she saw a reflection of her daughter in them..she was proud to see him grow up so strong and well but oh how she wished she could go back to the days when he depended on her for everything.

Littlefoot noticed the sadness that fell upon his grandmother,he knew just the words to say. With a smile he spoke gently,in almost a whisper "I will always need you,Grandma..and Grandpa too. Even if I do have a family of my own, doesn't mean I have to forgot the ones that raised me..in fact" he lowered his head "You have to be with me..there's no way I could do it without you's...I already lost Mother..and Dad has minimum part of my life. I would be more worried about you two leaving me..I've been worried that one day you would think I'm old enough to not need you anymore and leave me on my own.."

Grandma reached out and placed her head against that of her grandson "We would never leave you, some things change..but a family love is something that doesn't"

Grandpa stood silent, watching them. He couldn't quiet pick up the words they were saying to each other but from their movements and expressions,he knew they were trying to comfort the other, after silence once again fell upon the longnecks Grandpa spoke "I think we should all get that rest now,if we want strength tomorrow."

The small family huddled together, each trying to keep the other two warm as the cold night air sent it's full force onto them.

Littlefoot thought about what was said today..start his own family. Littlefoot knew he was the last of his herd,he knew one day he would be expected to find a mate. Littlefoot only knew one longneck girl besides his mother and grandmother..Ali. Ali was about Littlefoot's age,and he found himself thinking about her lately,it had been a while since she last visited the valley in fact they were only kids the last time they saw each other, the chances she would come back were looking slim.

He wondered what she was like now, very pretty no doubt. He,along with his friends had reached that stage in life when they began becoming more interested in the other gender, though for Littlefoot it was diffcult. There were no other longnecks his age that lived in the valley permanently,he tried to shake the thoughts from his head. Even if he did find Ali again didn't mean she would still like him as much as she once did,she had lots of other longnecks her age with her all the time..why would she prefer one she rarely saw or might not even see again?

Those thoughts followed Littlefoot into his sleep, why had life suddenly got so serious and complicated?

It just wasn't fair.

The Fridge / Appreciation Message
« on: December 19, 2014, 06:23:01 PM »
Hey guys,umm

I wanted to give you all a message of thanks but I decided instead of just typing it out.
I'll record myself speaking it.

Sorry in advance for the horrid quality and how it s bit heard to hear at times,I did mutter a few things to myself, and those were on purpose.

I have a crappy microphone which is not helped by my voice pausing and dropping.

It's 2 part cause my recorder was limited

Part 1
Part 2

I got cut off in the end because of time

But all I was going to say is i hope you all have a great new year.

Took a lot of guts for me to do this, and it has already helped. Just recording it helped, and since I got this far..might as well post it..sucky as the quality is.

Yes,that is my real voice. Now you have a voice to my name.
I really talk like that, live with it xD

The Fridge / Presents as Kid
« on: November 26, 2014, 12:42:17 AM »
This just came to me,as I am currently doing my Christmas present shopping for this year.

Surely we all have the stories of when we get someone the strangest presents when we were kids, things we thought was the best present ever..but our parents..pretend to like it....least my parents pretended to like them..and I bought it..darn.

Here is some of mine, and my family still laughs about them to these day..geez will that  ever get over it...most likely not,I'll never live these down. They will not let me forget them..ever.

When I was four I gave my father his own car keys for his Birthday..seriously. I stole the car keys from the table, wrapped them up (in paper I made myself) and gave them to him. His reaction was "Oh,just what I wanted"

On my Mothers birthday, again when I was four..I wrapped up her toothbrush and gave it to her...yeah....

When I was five,I gave my mother weeds from the garden-I thought they were flowers...but she put them in a vase nontheless..but she threw them out when I went to bed...love you too mum...

When I was six I have my mother a potted plant..I wrapped it up and all..yeah here is the thing...

We owned that potted plant for two years already.

Again, was six. Gave my father money for his Birthday..I got the money from his wallet.

Man I was a weird 6 year old..cause there is another one

Gave my brother a stick for Christmas, yes a stick. Surprised he didn't hit with it...

Last one is my sisters Birthday when I was nearly 7..so I was still this strange 6 year old. She had a cold so I gave her a box of tissues.

Think after that, everyone was tired of my crappy presents so either my mum or dad would come to shop with me and buy the present for me,but let me say I got it all by myself.

Anyone else give someone a strange present when they were younger?

Or was I just a highly strange child? If thats the case...I'm pretty sure I'm now the laughing stock.

Or has anyone revived a strange present? I do  recall getting a roll of toilet paper covered in glitter for Christmas last year from my 4 year old niece...ah she is taking after me.
