1988 Theatrical Release / Went The Wrong Way?
« on: August 30, 2011, 02:10:50 AM »
The thing is that Cera's stubborness and planless behaviour didn't result in any positive outcomes.
Another example is when she endangered the others with her horror stories about Sharptooth so that they choose their sleeping-place next to her on the top of a cliff with no cover, while Littlefoot took the hole with cover.

This completely changed when she became aware of her stupid behaviour after the scene with the Pachycephalosaurs. The result was that she gave the rock with Sharptooth the final push and saved the others.

I dont think someone selling cels on ebay has even idea of the original ending so why would he photoshop it? All of the other cels are dead accurate too, and he has put dozens of them up there.
Why shouldn't he have an idea of the original ending? We also have it and as I said today accurate copies aren't a problem anymore thanks to the PC.
And that he has dozens of that cheap cels is the key factor for me. In general LBT cels are rare and expensive and no cheap mass ware, especially those of the uncut movie.

Edit:
And if you look at his ratings there are different people which bought the same cels he currently offers. So how can more than one original cel of the same scene exist?
they are laser background cels, not ones with the actual production backgrounds. That's why theyre cheap.
Even with that they are much to cheap.
He claims that they are originals but people already bought the same pieces he is offering at the moment and therefore my question from above remains:  How can more than one original exist?

Hm,I don't know. This is a 9$ cel from Ebay and so it could also be a fake. In general the real cels cost more then 100$. I mean, today with Photoshop and tablet it isn't a problem to create fakes and I can't believe that someone sells off original cels for next to nothing.

Littlefoot still could have offered more rest, however. Climbing up that mountain was tiresome, and Sharptooth couldn't get them up there, plus there's no flying sharpteeth nearby, so there's not much of an excuse on Littlefoot's part to not allow them some rest. It's not like the others were being lazy either. He assumed that they were quitting, but they weren't; they were simply tired. And by rest, I mean a few minutes or even an hour's rest to get their strength back.

I think, this scene shall imply that the others were near to give up everything and because Littlefoot believed that they where close to their destination he encouraged them a bit. When someone you know is close the the end of an hard task but also at the end of his tether you would also say something like: "Come on, only a little farther, don't stop now."

I don't know if you can actually put her as the direct cause of this. In my opinion, even if she had listened to Littlefoot, sharptooth would still have been persistent in his chase that he would eventually found a way to get to them. Things may have played out differently but the result still might have been the same. I wouldn't say sharptooth killed her but the earthquake. Chances are during all the shaking, she fell and animal of that size falling onto itself is likely to do some damage internally. She did say she couldn't get up.

But Littlefoot's path could have also changed everything, we don't know. From what we know from the produced version of the movie Cera's way led them to his mother and her loud scream lured Sharptooth to them, so she was a bit complicit in her death. And I think her death was caused by Sharptooth not the earthquake. Littlefoot also mentioned it during his conversation with Rooter and in the books of the movie you can read as single cause for her death that she was badly injured by Sharptooth.

If he wouldn't have forced them to go with him they would have never made it to the valley and died somewhere in the desert without hope. He was the leader of the herd and the only one who kept an eye on the others. Furthermore he also risked his own live to save them and he never forced his friends to do something, he only "inspired" them, that what the leader of a herd has to do. The only mistake he made was not to believe Cera but with the knowledge of her stubborn character, I think, everybody would have done the same.
That he wanted to defeat sharptooth is also the only possible choice if you look at the uncut movie. Sharptooth was close to the entrance of the valley and he knew what that would mean for helpless dinosaurs, like the kind of Ducky, if Sharptooth would have found it.

Cera on the other side never told the others to do something, because she doesn't care about other races and the only thing she did was to constantly insult the others. Her behaviour in contrast to Littlefoot's has almost cost the lives of the others in some situations. Furthermore she was also a little bit the cause of the death of Littlefoot's mother because she took the wrong way through the thorns.

Unfortunately in the sequels Littlefoot's character made a backward development and he became more and more a child. I don't think that anybody of them would have made it to the valley with the "softness" you can see in the following movies.

1988 Theatrical Release / What happened to Cera's mother and sisters?
« on: August 24, 2011, 09:10:45 AM »
You can see her the last time when Cera calls for her parents after the earthquake on the other side of the rift.

I would say if she died in the first movie then it was in the area with the volcanos and the tar pit because (if she was stubborn like her daughter) she took the wrong way like Cera.

But I don't think that it was the intention of Bluth to let her die. I think it was artistic freedom of the following producers to show the difficulty of the lonely father/daughter relationship.

...and the dinosaurs died out because of a meteorite (the strongest supported theory regarding their extinction), not because of some flood, which by the way has no geological evidence of ever happening...
Scientifically regarded this is wrong, because birds (Avialae) belong to the dinosaurs and so dinosaurs didn't die out.

The book is a bit different in some scenes. In the clip sharptooth also stands on his feet what means that the wave can't be caused by his fall. I would think the cause is the tail of Littlefoots's mother when it drops into the mud after she struck him down.

1988 Theatrical Release / DVD question
« on: August 10, 2011, 01:29:57 AM »
I think it has something to do with the opening credits, because it fades out when the LBT-logo disappears and the real movie begins. Maybe someone had the idea when they remastered it for DVD.

LBT Fanart / Question for fanartists

Depends on the amount of detail. A simple figure like you see in LBT doesn't take much time but for example if you draw a real dinosaur with a realistic skin covered with all the scales or feathers  can take a lot of hours.

If this comment is from Youtube or some random guy then I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to it.

Edit: I found the comment, and yea when you ask him to upload it then he responds that he has sold it. This guy is untrustworthy to me.

Yeah so the whole uncut movie could be a rumor. And maybe Don is right maybe he did actually delete the footage the he cut from they movie.
No I don't think so. I simply remember them too well, and I found out many scenes that were in my mind, but was not sure, on the cels I discovered later. And those dialogues in books, exactly as I remembered, even how the characters said them.
Hm, you remember the words of dialogues from 15+ years ago?

At the moment, with all that disappointments, I tend to believe the best we can hope for is that there either is some kind of uncut press release or Bluth/one of his team members has a hidden personal copy that someday will be discovered in the estate.
