Role Play Discussion / New RP idea full of Flashyness.
« on: May 27, 2010, 07:25:12 PM »
"Let me tell you, if you will listen, a story of knights and kings, of good versus evil, and of terror unimaginable."

The guard's body armor clanked as he ran, gripping his rifle with both hands. He shot a quick glance behind himself. His attackers had vanished. He turned, and aimed his rifle into the dark.

"For long ago, a shadow held sway over this land."

The guard heard a clicking from the darkness to his left, and turned. He could see nothing in the blackness. Worse yet, his flashlight had burnt out. For a moment, he thought he could discern a doglike shape moving in the dark. But then it was gone.

"The people did not do anything about it, because they were already embroiled in war themselves."

The guard took a deep breath, then laid his rifle to the side. He grasped his left hand with his right, and removed the his glove.

"The war was between those who were gifted-"

The guard's left hand was suddenly ablaze with fire. However, it did not burn him.

"-and those who were not."

The fire illuminated the area, and revealed the guard's assailiants. They were low-slung, doglike creatures, with massive teeth, hairless skin, and, huge, blood red eyes. There were dozens of them.

"The kings of both sides refused to compromise."

The guard grasped his rifle, and fired as best he could with one hand, at the swarming creatures. Several fell, but they continued to charge.

"It was almost to late when they saw the truth."

Only a mile away, the gunshots were heard by the residents of the nearest building. They were only students, after all, it was a school. A few were awakened from their sleep.

"By that time, many had fallen to the shadow."

The guard fell, one of the creatures on top of him. It tore into him. The guard screamed.

"But the two sides united against the shadow."

The guard tried to focus, despite the pain and terror. His entire body was suddenly aglow with flames.

"In the end, it was the gifted who haulted the shadow."

Intensly hot fire burst from the guard's body, incinerating the nearby dog creatures and driving those who were not killed away. A few of the students saw this, as well, for it lit up the night sky like a flash of lightening.

"And, at a great cost of life, drove it back."

The guard was dying. He knew this. But, he had died defending the place he had sworn to protect. His last thought, was of the place he had defended.

"Before finally being driven to the depths, the shadow vowed it would return."

Peterson's Academy for the Gifted.
_______________________________________________________

Gifted takes place in an Academy for supernaturally gifted students. They academy is closely guarded, as there is tension between the gifted and those who are not. There has been recent terrorist activity, and rumors of a darker threat lurking in the shadows.

In this RP, players will take the role of one of the students of Peterson's Academy for the Gifted. Students stay at the academy for the enitre school year. Here, they are educated, not only on what they would learn in the average high school, but also the responsible usage of their abilities. Students are allowed off school grounds on the weekends and after classes, but must be back by 8:00.

But there is also the spreading rumor of something else. And the recent death of one of the security guards only lends credilbilty to the rumor.

"All the World will be your enemy, prince with a thousand enemies, and when they catch you, they will kill you.

But first, they must catch you."

All rabbits know the words of El-ahrairah's blessing. They all rely on trickery and cunning to avoid the thousands of enemies who would rob them of their lives.

But one of the worst of these enemies isn't a living creature at all. It is called the White Blindness, a horrific disease that causes rabbits to wander, pained and blinded, to their deaths.

A warren has surcumbed to this terrible fate. But before the entire warren was doomed, several rabbits, too frightened to remain, fled from the warren, in search of a new, safer beging. They were uninfected, and have been seeking the safety of a new warren ever since they set out.

Only time will tell if the find it.

Common words:

To get the true feeling of Watership Down, I've included a list of common "lapine"(the rabbit languge in the book) words.

bob-stones: A type of guessing game with stones played by rabbits.
elil: Enemies of rabbits, including fox, stoat, weasel, cat, owl, man, etc.

Frithrah: "Lord Sun", used as an exclamation. Analogous to "My God!"
fu-InlÈ: After moonrise.
hain: A song.
hlao: A depression in the ground formed by a daisy or a thistle, specifically one that can hold moisture. Also used as a rabbit's name.
hlessi: A rabbit who lives aboveground or otherwise out of a warren; a wandering rabbit. Plural hlessil.
homba: A fox. Plural hombil.
hrair: Many, uncountable, any number above four.
hraka: Droppings, excreta.

Bios:

You will play as either one of the rabbits who escaped the White Blindness, or one they will meet along the way.

Name:
Gender:
Age(Rabbits commonly live for about four years):
Personality:
Appearance:
Backstory:

Note:

Your character is a rabbit. The average rabbit CANNOT make friends with foxes, consort with humans, talk to humans, or do anything that your average rabbit cannot do. This also includes magical powers. While Watership Down certainly hinted at the supernatural, with Fiver's foresight, and the ending, this does not at all mean that you can have rabbits that transform into hawks.

On a lighter note, your character can tell any of the numerous stories mentioned in the novel, if it suits the situation and the character him/herself. If you're feeling especially creative, you can include you own, brand new stories.

I've seen some good ones, I've seen some bad ones. But all the Watership Down RPs I've ever seen are very, very inactive. I know there are some fans on the forums, but I'd need some support before I start this, to know that it would stay alive. I'd also need a plot.

So, if anyone's interested, post here.

"So, who was he?"

"Nathan Willson. Corporate bigshot. Made alot of people angry. But not this angry."

The body was concealed within a bag. Thank god for small favors.

"What are you saying?"

"Well, if this was your average angry employee, they just would've shot him."

John looked at his partner quizzicly. "So? Maybe it was some psycho."

Andrew shook his head. He looked back at the bodybag, and then at the bloody mess that was the scene of the crime.

Written in the blood of the late Nathan Willson, were the words

'This is the first. We will not hault. We are the holy legions.

WE ARE ANGELS.'

"There's been psychos before who thought they were gods, or angels, or some crap like that." John said, with a shrug.

Andrew stroked the stubble on his chin, then lit up a cigarette. He placed it in his mouth, blew out some smoke, then took it out.

"I dunno, something doesn't seem right about this case."

"It's a murder, Andrew. Murders never feel right."

From a nearby window, a Raven perched. It eyed the two cops with unnerving attentivness.

Against all reason, it spoke, quietly, to itself.

"They have returned."

Random Role Play / Sworn
« on: January 16, 2009, 12:35:34 PM »
For a long time, the only threat the United Allied Planets have had to contend with were roving gangs of pirates making raids on outer colonies. That was before the Sworn.

The Sworn were, at first, identified through several transmissions. The first was as follows.

"You, in all your complacent, foolish bravado. You make a mockery of the holy one. There is only one punishment for such trangressions. Execution.

We are coming for you."

There were two more transmissions after that, one identifying the Sworn.

"Sworn are those who have come before us, and Sworn are those who will come after."

A week after the final transmission, a fleet of Destroyer-Class cruisers broke through the Fira line, and attacked the colony of Fira. The unsuspecting UAP forces were slaughtered.

That was one year ago. The Sworn have continued to push towards the inner colonies, and Earth itself. More confusing still, they are not an alien threat. They are like the UAP's races. Foxes, Cobras, Wolves, Hawks, and all the others. The Sworn are no different.

The Sworn follow a single, governing idvidual, the High Sworn. The few UAP forces who have seen the High Sworn have reported that he is a tall Spider cloaked entirly in a black robe, only his arms, and part of his head showing.

The Sworn have attacked the colony planet of Daera. An army of UAP marines has been dispatched to reinforce the colonies' defences.

This is their story.

Role Play Discussion / Bit of a plot I had in mind
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:19:50 AM »
Well, this is basicly a bit of a interesting plot idea I had. It's a Sci-fi based RPG, all the characters are animal based, for example, humanoid cobras, humanoid foxes, with each race originating on earth. Now, these races have untied to form a faction called the "UAP" or United Allied Planets. They've been recieving bizzare transmissions from something called the Sworn. A few weeks after the first tranmission, a massive Sworn invasion fleet broke through a UAP blockade and attacked a UAP colony planet. The Sworn are a conglomeration of races, similer to the UAP, who follow an spider-like individual known as the High Sworn. The High Sworn promises his armies divine protection. The RPG picks up a year after this attack, with the UAP and the Sworn embroiled in bitter war.

Now, both sides use ballistics weaponry, nothing like lasers or anything. However, there are space ships, and stuff like that, obviously. I would take these roles:

Name: Kenneth Danvey
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Cobra
Rank: Sergent
Affiliation: UAP
Appearance: Like all cobras, Sergent Danvey is thin, has a reptailian head, and the trademark hood. He wears basic UAP power armor, which usually covers most of his body, even off the battlefield. When not in battle, Sergent Danvey wears miltary green. Like all cobras, Danvey's scales are black.

This is a unique RPG. why is it unique? Because it's about anthropomorphized mice.

Yes, mice.

Not humanoid, but they can talk, have societies, and walk on their hind legs(unless they're running).

They also live in a world of danger.

Ya see, just about everything eats mice. Snakes, birds, heck, even some centipedes.

So, what do the mice do? Protect themselves. Hide their villages and forge powerful swords. They train the most resilent of their species to protect the villages, guard them from the threat of predators.

But, there are some real bad stuff on the horizon. The stuff of some of the deepest, darkest legends.

Profiles:

Name: Kent Ardon
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Rank/Profession: Guard
Appearance: Kent wears a grey cape, the symbol of a guard, and has red fur. He is frequently seen with his father's lonsword strapped to his back. He is quite fleet-of-foot, and often employed to scout surrounding areas for predators.
Brief Bio: Kent has always aspired to be a guard, after his father, Deren Ardon, gained fame for fending off an infestation of rats with the help of only twenty mice. His wishes came true when he was recruited to the guard for his agility and bravery. Kent quickly became a full guard, and and enjoys his duty immensely. Otherwise, Kent is a sarcastic, firey-tempered young mouse, who is quick to leap into situation perhaps beyond his ability. Despite this, Kent is quite intelligent.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I hopped over the branch barring my way. I had been sent to find the wherabouts of a trader, who had been carrying supplies to my home village of Trenholm. Trenholm was named for the hero of old, Kanteran Tren, who had taken on three snakes and lived. Any scout or guard faced with the gravest of danger needed only to shout 'Tren', and help was sure to arrive. I looked up, towards the massive trees. They towered above us mice, but were quite useful as watchtowers. Securing my father's longsword to my back, I ran over to the nearest tree and scrambled up, finding footholds in the knarled bark. There was a tiny spider along the way, but I shooed it away. Nothing that small could hurt a guard. Nothing that small could hurt any mouse. I spotted a low branch extending from the tree, and clambered towards it. One foot slipped. With a gasp, I nearly lost hold on the bark, and for a few moments, my hind legs and tail dangled above the forest floor. I pulled up, and, after a few struggles, managed to regain my footing. I panted for a few seconds, then clambered to the edge of the branch. I looked down, to see if I could spot anything that would hint to the trader's prescence. I did. With a deep breath, praying that it was not what I thought, I sped back down the tree and ran for the site of the large, overtuned cart that was surely the trader's load. I took one look at the grotesque, mutilated remains that lay beside the cart, and turned my head skywards. The wind picked up, and plastered my ears and fur against me, as I took a deep breath.

A battle crusier, thousands of feet long and containing countless warriors from differant races, has been shot down over the Unamed planet. Most all of the warriors died in the insuing explosion. The planet's foilage quickly claimed it, leaving it a forested, metallic cave. Many Animals have made it thier home. however, there is something coming, to claim something that was hidden within the cruiser...

"This is Commander Nathan Haverson, requesting assistance! A massive Covenant Remenent fleet has appeared from subspace. They have started attacking New Reach. Any UNSC or Sangheili forces who hear this message, please respond! I will play this message in a continuous loop until help arrives. This is Commander Nathan Haverson, out!"

This message was recieved by a small Sangheili/UNSC patrol. New Reach is not only a vital military base, but is also a settlement for both Sangheili and Humans alike. This message was also recieved:

"Foolish humans, you dare to believe you had defeated us? We will burn your world until all that remains is ash and glass! Nor will you escape the storm, dammed Sangheili. Your blood will be spilt on the ground at our victory!"

This is believed to be from the leader of the Remenent Fleet. As you understand, we cannot allow New Reach to fall to the Covenant. Now, let's go kill us some ugly Gorillas.

He is sarcastic, and tends to care more about his team mates then the Covenant religious beliefs. He also respects the human's abilities. The first battle he was deployed in was the Battle of Hades III, where he destroyed a Pelican DropShip by sticking a Plasma Grenade into the passenger area. When the grenade detonated, it destroyed the human ship and sent the wreckage crashing to the ground. After climbing out of the gorge, 'Rhculee and his team called for an evac Phantom, and they blasted off the the main installation. However, when the arrived, the Minor Prophet of Despair accused them of cowardice, and threatened to report them for heresy. Brief History: Vera 'Zenor is an outspoken female SpecOps Elite. She participated in several important battles, such as the Battle of Olympus and The Battle of the Unseen Path. She was often talked down to by her superiors, but this began to change when the Sangheili split from the Covenant. She sometimes takes up the Sniper Position, but she prefers direct combat. Vera 'Zenor had the fortune of being born into a family who was accepting of her. However, this left her ill-prepared for Covenant military life. When she was finally accepted into the Covenant military(as a Minor Domo), she was forced to endure constant insults from her superiors. This tore her apart inside, but it also made her work hard to prove her superiors wrong. Soon promoted to a Major Domo, Vera 'Zenoree now had command over several of the Sangheili who had insulted her. But rather then take vengeance, she gave them no punishments, to prove she was better then them. At the Battle of Hades III, most of her squad was killed, but she managed to kill numerous humans. This promoted her to a SpecOps Minor. When deployed at Olympus, she and her new team were ambushed by a pair of Spartan IIs. Due to the element of suprise, most of the team was killed, save 'Zenoree herself. She killed one Spartan, but was forced to flee from the other. On the way back, 'Zenoree rescued another SpecOps Elite named Anno 'Rhculee. After they were both safly back on the Dedicated Seer and the planet was glassed, 'Zenoree introduced herself to 'Rhculee, and they formed a lasting friendship. she became involved in the Battle of the Unseen Path, and soon rejected the Covenant beliefs.

2007. The world is much as it is today. Save with one, major differance. The planet is populated with anthropomorphic Dinosaurs. They live like we do, though some can only eat meat, and some can only eat plants. There is also crime. Massive underground crime sydicates run rampant in large cities. This has spawned numerous vigilantes and assasins. A new crime syndicate has appeared on the horizon. Called The Eyes, they are believed to be a cult dedicated to an ancient deity known to them as "The Watcher". They practice sacrifice, kiddnapping vigilantes, assasins, cops, and civilians alike. A number of vigilantes have banded together to stop this, and many assasins have been hired by the Cult. But threw it all, something is very wrong. Graffiti of the Watcher, made by cultists, seems to be moving when looked out at from the corner of the eye.

Could the Watcher be real?

Role Play Discussion / New RPG

Alright, I've come up with an RPG idea that is basicly Athropomorphized Dinosaurs. The Dinosaurs have the heads, feet, and tails of their non-anthro counterparts, but they have bodies exactly like human ones. Except scaly. Now, the setting is exactly like earth today. There's also numerous underground crime syndicates, and there are many Assasins who hide their work from public. Some Assasins, like my characters, will only kill corrupt Police Dinosaurs, crime bosses, or murderers. There are others who will kill anyone, as long as they get paid. Now, there's an underground cult movement made up of various differant species, who's kiddnapping and murdering other Dinosaurs, especialy Dromeosaurs, in a bid to summon their deity called "The Watcher". The Assasins are worried, as are the police, and just about everyone else. Now, just to make sure everyone understands, the Dinos do not have humanoid faces. They are just like normal Dinosaur faces. I've had confusion with this kind of thing before. There will be some magic stuff introduced later on, but in the beginning, no magic will be allowed.

So, whaddya guys think?

1988 Theatrical Release / An Odd Rumor

Way back when, when The Land Before Time was the only LBT film, some people thought that the Gang had died, and the The Great Valley was an interpetation of Heaven. Now, this, I thought, was weird. Where did people get that idea? A little more research, and it led to me finding that this was started when some guy thought the Sharptooth had killed the Gang, and that the whole "Sharptooth's Death" and "Great Valley Arrival" Sequnces were just the Gang arriving at "heaven". Anybody else heard of this weirdness?

Unfinished RP's / Corruption

It all started with a group of trading ships. The ships started on Xerves, and in order to get to they're destination, Tellor IV, they had to pass by the planet Valzarex III. The Vulture-like Valzarens, upon being notified of the ships, sent a huge attack crusier to attack the peacefull trading convoy. They destroyed every ship without reason. When confronted about such a voilent attack, the said simply "They were flying in restricted airspace." The Xerveians, outraged as it is by the needless attack, were even more outraged by the fact that the Valzarens never declared the space around they're planet restricted. Valzarens then calmly stated that the lesser beings of the universe did not need to know of they're plans. They procceded to strike down several of not only the Xerveian leaders, but Tellorian, Kohlarian, Khorkhoi, and Vehkorellen leaders as well. Each of these planets declared war on the Valzarens.
