Attic Treasures / What are you reading?
« on: April 08, 2011, 11:50:53 AM »
Currently reading this interesting book called "Almost Transparent Blue" for my Modern Japanese Literature class.  It's about the life of a Japanese youth living in a town near an American military base.

Gamers Zone / How often do you play games?
« on: April 08, 2011, 11:29:02 AM »
Even with all my classes and working on my original sci fi story I still find at least a little time for some games, be it on my DS, 360 or SNES.  So yeah, I play games every day. :p

Gamers Zone / What's your personal favorite "Game Over" screen?

For me it would have to be Total Distortion's game over screen.  Probably the most straight-forward game over music ever.   :lol

Gamers Zone / Pokemon Black & White
« on: March 30, 2011, 06:18:23 PM »
Sorry for my current absences everybody.  College has really been taking its toll on what I can dedicate my time to...

Anyways, I managed to get ahold of Pokemon White a couple weeks ago, and I can say that I definitely loved it.  Sure, it hasn't changed a lot from the other games, and if you're truly sick of it there might not be anything to win you back.  But the changes that are there are pretty significant.  Especially regarding the evil team syndicate and their motives.  And I like how the gym leaders are more involved with the plot this time around.  When I finished it all up, I felt very satisfied.

Good to know you're interested in this version of it, LF1616.  ^..^  It's just a short project for me to help polish my rusty writing skills for my original work.  And though it'll only include the Mars story arc, I'll be striving to make this short stretch a good one!

Well, I know I already replied to your review of the first chapter, but I'll say it on here.  Thanks for the advice.  I guess my fiction writing skills have rusted quite a bit...  I took those tips into account for my other chapters as well.

I do agree on that...  I just linked together the first and second chapters to make it longer.

Thought I'd now make an official thread for this story.  I've decided to post it up on FF.net, respecting my old story's origins.  I've decided to make a few changes, including cutting the self-insert character out in place of the old story's mentor at a young age, Albrecht (or Al).  I plan on keeping it in a short novelette format, around seven to ten chapters or at least kept within the range between 8,000 words and less than 19,000.

Here's a link to the story on FF.net, I'm sure Serris will especially be glad that I've decided to bring back the idea, despite it being only a brief reduction to only the Mars plot.  I decided that after writing his story and giving it a proper completion, I'll be putting it behind me and continuing onward with my more original works.

Looks like I'll have to.  Given that I'm also deciding to reboot my old fanfic as a short novelette-style piece to get it off my chest.

LBT Projects / Possible Time Gate X reboot.

Here's a little snippet that I just wrote up.  This may come to me easier than I thought.  Figured I would share this before I posted it up on FF.net. (( Link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6747006/1/Time_Gate_X_Red_Dust ))

“All passenger hibernation pods are now reanimated.  Welcome to Cydonia, Mars.  It is currently 1800 hours Face Standard Time on October 13th, 2130. All connecting shuttle flights to the Jupiter moon colonies and Titan will commence in 48 Earth Hours.  Thank you for choosing United Spacelines and enjoy your stay on Mars.” Said a tinny computerized voice through the speakers on the ceiling of a long corridor lined with stasis pods.  As the pods opened, and the passengers deboarded, a figure clad in a white labcoat stood out from the crowd.  He took no time leaving the ship for the baggage carousel to grab a small duffel bag.  His brown eyes scanned the crowded lobby for a moment, lit by the pink tint of the Martian sky through a glass ceiling.  The man in his 20s made his way for the glass exit tunnel to the chauffeur parkway, “Here I am, back on Mars... Can’t stand it...  Dim, depressing, dry...  What does my father want now?” said the brown-haired figure as he held his forehead, making his way to the parkway where about a dozen suited men were holding signs of last names.  This strange young man in a labcoat approached the chauffer holding a paper sign with “Schmidt” crudely written on it.  “Albrecht Schmidt?” said the driver as the two men made eye contact.  “Yes.  That would be me.”  The black-suited man opened the back door, allowing this Mr. Schmidt to climb in before taking his place as the driver, “Where will it be today, sir?”

“The Cydonia SpaceTime facility please.”

I was thinking of simply keeping it short and sweet like a novella.  I dunno if I'd make a sequel to it, I just want the relief of finally completing this story after having it left idle for five years before deleting it.

And I plan on narrowing the story down to just Mars, and probably leaving out the Sharptooth's Heart and Out of the Shadows crossovers.

Lately, I've been thinking that maybe I should bring back Time Gate X.  One of the changes I planned on doing was replacing the main human character, who was originally a self-insert from when I was a cocky 14-year-old. :lol  Maybe with another scientist who's older and more developed.  Though this time, I plan on probably stopping it after the Mars story arc, if anyone read and knew about it before I made the stupid idea of taking it down...  The reason for the shortening of the story was because I wound up with too many plot points and decided to go through with them, big mistake as I burned out 30 chapters in.  I could put it back up on FF.net if any of my readers on this site managed to save it, though I bet that was probably wishful thinking as I gave no warning beforehand of taking it down.  And the word files are long lost from one of my old, and now dead, computers.

"Got it at a pizzeria just a few blocks down the street!" said Luigi as he took a bite out of a piece before spitting it out, "Yyyugh!  I didn't think it would taste THAT bad!"  Mario facepalmed, "I told you it was a bad idea!"

((Crap...  I deeply apologize to everyone.  I've been so caught up in my college reading and my story that I haven't had much time for anything else...))

"Hey, sorry guys." Mario said to Yogi as he stepped into the restaurant with a half-eaten portabello mushroom in his hand.  "Luigi wanted to go to the pizzaria, and there was no stopping him."

"I'm surprised, big brotha." said Luigi as he walked in with a personal-sized pizza in his hands, "They actually made a pizza with anchovies, beans and cheese whiz!"

"That's nasty, Luigi..." Mario replied as he took a bite out of the mushroom.

"Ten thousand bucks eh?" Mario stroked his chin, "Hey, why not?  That's more than enough to pay for the $1295.31 we still need to pay off!  We'll do it!"

"Well, I dunno.  We were gonna head to the Bronx after we stopped in Brooklyn." said Mario.

"The Laffalympics kinda sounds like fun, brotha.  Why don't we give it a shot?" said Luigi in response, "Would finally give me a chance ta use my new football!"  Mario sighed before looking back at Yogi, "Sure, why not?  What's the catch if we win?"

"If it's money, then thank god!  We still gotta pay off that bill from the Speak to Santa Hotline!" stated Luigi.
