Silver Screen / New to the Big Screen

I've considered Corpse Bride, but its not very long, so I'm wondering if the film is somewhat rushed to keep younger viewer's attention.

Tell us how your "second" birthday went then as well. :p  We're nosy.

Nick, I'd go for a 19" LCD computer monitor--those are even sweeter than big screen tvs.  :D  And much easier to move around.

Haha,  :lol  That's the first time I've seen that.  Yeah they don't get along too well, but instead of trying to make up something new, the writer just used whatever had already occured.

1988 Theatrical Release / The missing footage.

Interesting. For sure, I think cutting any footage of the T-rex's movites was a bad move on Spielberg and Lucus'es part. I also like the idea of Littlefoot finding the Great Valley beforehand, but turning to help his friends.

Here's to the hope of a Director's Cut someday. *Toasts*
There is some conclusive proof that Littlefoot found the valley beforehand--listen to the soundtrack.  In the track "The Rescue/Discovery of the Great Valley" before the action sequence there is a huge orchestral sequence that just grows as if someone has found something amazing, and since this particular arrangement is NOT in the film, there likely was something cut where Littlefoot decided to save his friends instead of staying in the valley.

Way back in 2001 I had a page online dedicated to this deleted stuff and all sorts of theories, but I no longer have the file since I've gone through a few computers since then.  Malte might still have all that text.

Universal Studios Preps Land Before Time Animated Series
LOS ANGELES, August 8: The newly formed family entertainment label Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions (USHEFP) has commenced production on the 26-episode The Land Before Time, which is slated to debut on Cartoon Network in 2007 and will be distributed on DVD by Universal.

The Land Before Time movies have collectively sold more than 60 million units worldwide. The TV series will include many of franchise's most memorable characters, including Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike and Chomper in all new adventures. It will be created using a combination of 2-D animation and 3-D backgrounds.

"There is a huge consumer demand for high-quality, family-friendly content both on television and in the home entertainment arena," said Craig Kornblau, the president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. "Universal is committed to tapping its vast catalogue of world-renowned entertainment brands, as well as finding compelling new material, to inspire the creation of original films and series that will serve this growing marketplace."

Glenn Ross, the general manager and executive VP of Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions, added, "We are thrilled to be able to extend the success of this prized franchise to yet another vital platform. Cartoon Network is widely recognized for its trademark quality programming, and we look forward to combining the new The Land Before Time series with the network's esteemed lineup of children's offerings."

Universal will also expand the franchise in 2007 with the 12th direct-to-DVD title Land Before Time: Day of the Flyers. Both the TV series and the new feature-length adventure DVD will be jointly supported by a worldwide licensing program, which will be spearheaded by Universal Studios Consumer Products Group.

So if you get Cartoon Network, you're golden.

You're acknowledging that the next holiday is just around the corner and you're supposed to be preparing for it...that's how they get their extra profits compared to the quiet times in between the hols.

I know my parents won't buy any Halloween stuff or bring any down for decorating until about a week before the holiday.  :P:   Christmas is another story, but it's nowhere near as early as commercial America.

If I lived on my own, I'd hardly decorate at all.

Certainly.  Kids won't catch on that the films basically repeat or contradict each other, but the longtime fans do.  That's why I have serious doubts that they can do 26 episodes that are not so similar that it doesn't get pulled early because they're out of ideas.

Actually I think its a double pun:  "great" as in large, and "great" as in plentiful.

Sure asking a lot of me here. :P:  A time I can remember clearly...

Well, I never saw it in theaters at all.  That I know for sure.  The earliest I could probably remember watching this is probably around 1993 because we had already moved to our new house and I can only recall watching it there.  You can tell I was dedicated to the film because I put one of those colorful Fisher Price tape recorders by the tv so I could hear the movie on car trips.    I remember getting annoyed when the phone rang because that would get picked up by the mic.

Alright, since I have the time, and you guys are ready for anything I dish out here goes:

If what Aria says is true, it's obvious this franchise is slowly going bankrupt.  TV series' are the kiss of death--once they're done, they're done.  Plus she mentions that they're whining about budget constraints which likely means that the series hasn't been as profitable as of late, and therefore the execs are unlikely to take a cut so to speak to produce more of the talking dinos.  TV series cost less, so if they can't afford (or don't want to afford) another film because it requires a higher quality of animation and computer effects, they're ready to pull the plug.  It's so obvious.  They're not making money and just trying to get every penny out of it possible before its RIP LBT.

In other words--nothing good can come from this tv series if the fans wish for more of the talking dinos--the tv series is the end of the line.  Those that wish to see the series dead will praise the tv series because I don't believe it will get far.  The plots on the films have been wanting, so what makes them think they can pull off twenty six more of them?

Chow until this weekend. ~Roger

When is it too early to stock up on holiday wares?  I mean, I see Halloween candy already!    Gee, now we're going to have kids checking for expiration dates.  :lol  I even saw a Christmas store in our mall.  Yeah.  This is nuts.

I mean, yeah I know my last playlist on my computer just now was all of Christmas music, but that's different...I forgot to do my traditional "Christmas in July" so I'm making up for it now.

Have we gone to far in corporate culture?  (And why have I seen nothing for Thanksgiving if they're doing Halloween and Christmas stuff?  I think Thanksgiving is more important than the other two.)

Now that you're 21, many doors are now open to you...lounges, bars, taverns, pubs, etc. Well...if you live in the U.S. anyway.

I just knew someone was going to say that.   Yes, but I need to dilute my alcohol first...I drank a 6oz. mudslide straight (no ice) and I sure felt it this morning.    Last time I had one of those I at least had ice in it and I was fine the next day.
