Probably yes :lol

Ozzy and Strut aren't bad as villains, but sometimes they become too dumb to convenience the script.
Specially Strut :lol

Remember how they dangled LF off a cliff and pulled him up when they heard Chomper? If they were going to drop him, why pull him up? Even as revenge goes it makes no sense. If you had your nemesis dangling on a cliff, would you pull him up when a man with a chainsaw was coming, especially when you've been told that they could potentially be allies?
Hmm, yes... The only explanation I can come up with is to use Littlefoot as a sort of protection shield :o

How is Ozzy even strong enough to hold him, anyway?
I call Rainbowfaces :DD Seriously, The Sharptooth had super-powers too, or who else would survive that drop, not to mention him jumping on Littlefoot's Mother's back... :p
Maybe he was raptor Jesus or Trogdor.

On a side note, I think Ducky is still a bit TOO cheerful here. I mean, being happy is one thing, but I can't imagine laughing a split second after I almost died.
Edit: Also, O and S seem too keen to get revenge. Seriously, just get another egg, it's not like there's a shortage.

General Land Before Time / My LBT 2 Sequel Suggestion

I agree that LBT 2 has its flaws, it's not among my most liked sequels but I still like it of course :)
Here's what I'd do:
1. I'm an advocate of the songs so there would be songs in my movies. 'Peaceful Valley' is a very good intro for the movie and it creates the thesis that the Valley is completely safe which will be proven wrong throughout the movie, 'Eggs' characterisizes Ozzy and Strut very well and besides it is pretty funny and 'You're One Of Us Now' has the message that the Gang accept Chomper as a kind of 'family member' (considering themselves as Chomper's family) and a friend.
2. I agree, the voice acting was poorer. Though compared to other sequels, it's okay.
3. I never noticed this... It's not annoying in my opinion so I won't really change that. In some situations, these funny-meant lines are well placed. Oh, and Ducky's just like that, she's too unmature to act serious in such a situation.
4. I agree with Malte here.
5. Littlefoot indeed accepts Chomper far too early. It's like his mother had never been killed by The Sharpooth. But on the other hand, Littlefoot's good attitudes don't allow him to leave him on his own... A compromise would be good, Littlefoot just doesn't accept Chomper until the Gang gets 'rescued' by Chomper.
6. I always wondered about this, it's like they had been brainwashed when they arrived at the Valley so they wouldn't recognize their life in the outside world.
7. That's not really bugging me to be honest.

I find the ending a little weird because there are suddenly Baby Threehorns, Flyers, Spiketails and Swimmers (those hatched but the rest of them just... came out of nowhere) so I wouldn't have done this.
Brainwashed, you say? I somehow think the Rainbow Faces are behind this! XD

Oh! I just remembered!

The Fridge / The Return of Phantom's Videos
« on: November 03, 2013, 12:15:26 AM »
So, yeah. I didn't get expelled for my videos (though they are still private on YouTube). Anyway, I've decided to continue with video-making in the school. Why? Because even though this has never ended well for me before, a part of me wants to trust my school, though I know I'm foolish for believing they could be anything more than they appear to be. However, this time it's nice and legal. I've recorded an audial contract/disclaimer that should ensure that I won't be persecuted again. If any of you have questions about this, feel free to ask.

Aside from that, I've made plans to record a compilation parody song based off of LBT musical numbers. It will be recontextualized to refer to school events or concepts. So I need ideas on which songs to include and what to say. Keep in mind that my school is ridiculously sensitive and has a tendency to get butthurt easily. Really easily.

General Land Before Time / My LBT 2 Sequel Suggestion
« on: November 02, 2013, 10:54:01 PM »
I've always though LBT 1 was better without a sequel, since it was pretty conclusive. Well, if there HAD to be a sequel, here's my take on how it should have gone. And yes, I do feel bad ripping into something that was dedicated to a dead guy. Anyway, here are the rules I've set for myself:
1. Approximately the same budget.
2. Same voice actors as the existing sequel.
3. I have to incorporate a prehistoric mango into the script.

So here are my suggestions:
1. No songs. There were none in the original, there should be none here.
2. Give the voice actors better direction. Ducky is especially poor in this. Maybe I'm just thinking of Judith Barski during her lines, but even so, it's pretty painful for other reasons. Which leads me to:
3. Avoid one-liners. Watch the sequel again and tell me what you think of the dialogue that occurs after a dangerous moment. It's all one-liners. Such as "Don't worry, I caught her", "No, I caught YOU!". Haha, we almost died, lawl. The original movie kept the danger and comedy separate so that the tone wouldn't be jumbled and confused.
4. Keep Ozzy or Strut, but make them silent and uglier. Remember in the first movie when an egg-stealer stole LF? He had warty hands, which is very Don Bluth-ish. Since an egg-stealer was shown during the credits, it makes sense to bring it into play.
5. Keep the Sharpteeth, but make the Chomper story arc more poignant. Making the STs sympathetic is a good idea, but for one thing, Chomper needs to be dumber. He is, after all, a hatchling. He shows way too much understanding of LF's words at times, which is odd and distracting. Maybe the ST's should have been in the valley sooner, fighting with the adults. Then the kids could once again show the adults that racism is wrong. Bam! Reinforced the moral.
6. Mysterious Beyond is not called the Mysterious Beyond. It was the dinos' homes for the majority of LBT 1, so it's not really mysterious.
7. Cera's dad's racism is explored as a B story, again reinforcing the moral and also creating conflict.

Now, obviously these changes would still keep the nareative's scope less impressive than the orginial, but I'm being realistic here. But then again, my opinion is invalid since I forgot to include the mango.

So you know how the OST is so hard to find?
And do you remember when the OST was on YouTube?
And how it was taken down before it could be . . . "reused". *shifty eyes*
And how we may need it for research of the lost scenes?
And did I mention it's really hard to find?
Like, really, really hard?
And is anyone familiar with Mediafire?
. . . Anyone who may have the soundtrack available?

And do you also know that I am plagued by guilt and shame for asking about this?

Is there no way you could try ushering it into a cardboard box? Whenever my cat brings one in, getting it into the corner and then tapping the floor near it so it runs into the box always seems to work.
I planned to have a bell of food on a hook-string attached to the door so the mouse pulls it and is trapped.

If you do not wish to kill the mouse then a no-kill trap would be recommended.  You can either buy one or make one yourself (I have included links at the end of this message for either case.)  The only issue with the DIY mouse traps is that they can cause broken legs in the mice, so a store bought trap would probably be preferred.

There's a mouse in my house! Actually, two including my beloved Scooter, but this one is WILD! Or a house mouse, I dunno.
So what do I do?
Do I feed it green eggs and ham?
Help!

(Also, I don't want to kill it.)

1988 Theatrical Release / Great Valley Color Symbolism

How are the colors symbolic, though?

Since one of my favorite parts of the original movie is the fact that the lighting changes, it always perplexes me when I hear people complain about it!

I think if Sharptooth had made it to the valley, he would be a more saturated green. So basically I think that all characters' coloring would be brighter and more saturated in the Great Valley.
I was going to talk about the emotional symbolism, but decided not to.

I'm not sure if that makes sense. Just because a scene isn't mentioned in a later movie does not mean it did not occur.

For instance, never once do they ever talk about how they were chased by Sharptooth in the first movie. Nor do they ever mention he is the reason Littlefoot's mother is gone. And never once do any of the characters mention the fight Littlefoot and Cera had in the movie.

And yet all of these are indeed canon.

As for "Ducky luring Spike with berries" I think this is actually still canon. Even though the full scene isn't shown, when you watch the movie, right after where Ducky finds Spike and it fades to a new scene, it shows the group walking together, and, if I remember right, Ducky is luring Spike to follow with berries.
True, but what about LF finding the valley? I seem to remember them referring to it as they did it in the cut version.

It's been a while since I joined. I'm finally a Spike! :)

Sad to say, the intended cut of LBT is not canon within the series. At least, it isn't mentioned. Never does Ducky say something like, "Hey, Spike. Remember when I lured you away from your birthplace with berries?".
The new staff that was working on the sequels might not have known about these scenes. In short, the cut version is canon. It's like that Disney movie where the protagonist mentioned fighting a giant squid, but the scene was deleted. This is, however, the opposite.

I don't know if I'm being clear.

Does anyone see what I'm saying?

1988 Theatrical Release / Great Valley Color Symbolism
« on: October 23, 2013, 01:18:53 PM »
So I've heard people complaining about Topsy and the Duckbills' colour palette in The Great Valley. Here's my take on it.
Aside from the children and adolescent dinosaurs, all the adults seem to be mucky colours of dark grey outside the valley. This is probably because of lighting.
Ever noticed how LF can be either brown or purple? Ducky is almost brown at some points in the movie. Same with Spike and Cera. Petrie is pretty consistent, save for his intro scene (he was kept in shadows to make the reveal more of a surprise). So is this because of the harsh lighting?
It seems to me that whenever Lf is purple, it's either nighttime or cloudy. Whenever the GoF is under harsh, desert sunlight, they go slightly brown.
In conclusion, I determine the final scene to represent the canonical colours of the dinosaurs.

LF is purple
Petrie is slightly red
Ducky is green
The Big-Mouths are light purple
Topsy is light purple
etc

To confirm this, we would have to screenshot each palette under every light condition (Harsh, cloudy, night, day, etc).Let's do some deduction, people.

PS: What would Sharptooth look like in the valley?
