Finally saw the Dark Knight Rises tonight, and I must say I was impressed. as a trilogy Nolans batman Films are one oif the stronger trilogies in recent memory, certainly, in my mind it sets the standard for the superhero genre, just as Star Wars(the original trilogy) or Lord of the Rings did for science fiction and fantasy respectively. for me the best film was the Dark Knight, thanks to Heath lefdger oscar-winning turn as the Joker. It takes a heck of a performance to win an Oscar after you die, its only happened twice, but Ledger pulled it off. Dark Knight Rises, for me was better than batman Begins, ias it managed to tie things together very nicely. Anne Hathaway did a very good turn as Selina kyle, proving that this cat has some sharp claws. Tom Hardy did a good job as bane and it was nice to see screen legends Gary Oldman Sir Micheal Caine and Morgan Freeman reprise thier roles. the films ending has been contraversial, but my view of it is this. bruce survived, as did batman.Batman is not quitting, he completes his task and is allowed to have a break from the suit. . one could argue that he ' quit' in the 8 years between the dark Knight and this film. hes a recluse Wayne industries is going down the tubes, and bane is wreaking havoc, which eventually pulls him out of retiorement. the ending left enough open for a spinoff or sequel.and i fully expect that bruce will don the cape and cowl again, although perhaps not alone. introducing Robin has always been tricky, as he has usually been a pretty camp character ' gee willickers batman Its the Penguin!" and myriad other corny oneliners that have defined Robin for decades and then of course there were the Schumacher films in the mid-90s which only piled on the camp, and set batman into purgatory for nearly a decade.
