Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on August 20, 2009, 05:34:56 PM
Hey guys!

Seems to be the running trend around here and since I've been outta the fray for nearly 2 weeks, thought I'd join the crowd!

Ask me anything... LBT, video games hints/tips/cheats/reviews, what British weather is REALLY like or even next week's lottery numbers! (please note: a percent of the winnings will be required for such information. Going rate is 100% of the winnings).

So fire away...

Wow! 2 posts already!  :DD

Pokeplayer: My avatar is on loan from the head honcho himself! Petrie posted these up in on of the older forums (if memory serves me right). Being an avid Littlefoot fan, this was my fav of the litter. He has more so if you wanna check them out, ask Petrie. I'm pretty sure he's got a topic on them in the Fanart and Fanfic section. Might be worth a gander if you're interested  ;)

Rat_Lady: I first met Malte on the network54 LBT forum way back in 2003 and it was him who directed me to our former LBT forum. There I met our gracious leader (named Captain Arvens at the time). I was in my first year of university when I met up with these guys on the previous forum so it seemed grand to make some new online friends. So I guess, as they say, the rest is history. I moved over to the GOF in Sept '04 and here I am now!

Cheers for the Q's guys! ;)

You bet your knitted cotton socks we can! That would be wickid to met another GOF member in the flesh! Feel privileged to have already met 4 members in real life. Every new encounter will add to the score board!

I'll be holding you to that suggestion now Action. No escape now!  :lol  ;)

Speaking of that fanfic, you did say that it was inspired by/a crossover/whatever of many movies, games, and other things. Do you have a list of all those things, or have you since forgotten some of them?
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on August 22, 2009, 06:47:25 PM
I knew this one was coming sooner or later... :DD

Serris: To be brutally honest, I'd have to say that the initial idea for BOSE came from a dream I had. I was effectively transported into the LBT universe where I went on an adventure with Littlefoot, Cera and co. I guess that's the concept boiled down to it's simplest form. I only considered putting the idea into a fanfiction because of a poster on the network54 forum reckoned it sounded like a good plot for a story. I guess, coz of that poster that I decided to put it onto paper and then from there I was directed to FF.net (again by the same poster after he read what I had come up with to start with). I suppose, without that poster's encouragement, I never would have made BOSE...

The Chronicler: It's easy to see where I got a lot of my inspiration from, but I was careful not to rip off anything too much. Obviously, the whole "undead" bit was inspired from Resident Evil but I didn't want it to be overly incorporated. Some aspects of my inspiration are more evident than others. The "Heaven's Eternity Crystal" and the Stones of Essence are all inspired from The Legend of Zelda and the Triforce (even down to the colours used) but things like the character names were a little more subtle. Take Lieutenant Jill Fielding for example. I constructed her name using 2 names of 2 of my favourite video game protagonists. "Jill" from Jill Valentine from Resi Evil, and "Fielding" from Blaze Fielding who stars in a 90's beat 'em up called "Streets of Rage" for the Megadrive. Again, all three main members of the Red Phoenix Military squad are all named after the 3 protagonists of the first Streets of Rage game. David HUNTER, Jill FIELDING and Daniel STONE (the three SoR characters being Adam Hunter, Blaze Fielding and Axel Stone)

If you wanna a list of what I drew some inspiration from, here's a shortfall:

Legend of Zelda
Metal Gear Solid
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy
Streets of Rage
Street Fighter
Ratchet & Clank
28 Days Later - film
Resident Evil
Land Before Time Movies (of course :smile)
Soul Caliber
Alien - film
The Terminator - film
Dragonball Z - animated series
Some real life experiences

There are others but for the sake of space, I'll leave it here. It would be good to know which ones readers could identify.

Thanks for your questions guys! Appreciate it greatly! ;)

Whoa! Kinda fell behind with me quota 'o questions there! :lol

Quote
I know you want a dog... What kind of dog would you like most of all?

Good question. The breeds not majorly important for me. Just as long as I can't kick it 3 miles if it gets under me feet :p (Nah...I wouldn't do that! :smile) Seriously though, maybe a Labrador, Goldie (Golden Retriever), Bull Terrier of some sort. The breed I'm not fussed about, it's the puppy inside that counts ;)

Quote
Do you like cats?

I LOVE cats! :wub I'm pretty much cool with any creature as long as it doesn't wanna take a chunk outta me! :lol Given the choice, I'd prefer a dog as a pet but I've got nothing against cats. They're just as cool but a little too independent for my liking :D Neeeexxxttt!!

Quote
What's your favorite LBT sequel?

Can't say I have one to be fair. I like some more than others but I can't real rate one as superior to any of the others. Coz they all have their flaws. Bit of a cop out answer but that's the way it is sadly...sorwee!  :oops

I promise you I AM working on it! I know I haven't updated for a while and I'm sorry for all those waiting to see what's due to happen next. But I promise you that chapter 20 will be up soon. I'm still working on the draft but as soon as I get a chance, it will be up there! Scout's honour! :DD My main hinderance so far has been the job. I've just got off working a solid week straight coz of "staff missing in action" and other various crappy excuses that hellhole can manifest. As soon as it's up, you guys will be the first to know! Watch this space! ;)

What's the best recent game you've played?

For me, the best game of recent days I've played has to be Resident Evil 5. Since it's release back in March it's the only game I've constantly gone back to. I know the game inside and out, I know pretty much every treasure location, all hidden emblems and got all weapons up to max level. There's nothing more for me to do with the game besides the last few levels of Professional mode (damn you Wesker! :p) but I normally play online to help other get through the game now. Consider me a "hired gun" for Resi 5. So if ya need help, just look me up! ;)

It was an interesting concept. I'll admit I haven't read much of it lately coz of work obligations (hence why I haven't worked on my own story much) but I like the idea you have for it. Plus the writing style is unique. I can pretty much invision all that is happening as it's described. Kudos to you on that one Serris ;)

Cheers for the Q's guys...any more for anymore?

I've heard a lot about this game but I will openly admit I'm not a fan of it. That is moreso to do with the fact that I'm not much of a Star Wars fan so I've never really pursued the game.

My favourite kinda sandwich? Probably a BLT (or LB&T :smile) or failing that, a humble Peanut Butter sandwich always does it for me :DD

Simple really...the first one was based after #10 so it made sense to have it somewhere afterwards. I think, coz I wanted the inclusion of Tria in this story I placed it between 11 and 12. So Cera is still adjusting to the fact of having a stepmother and the possibility of a new sibling on the way.

Even simpler than that, I started BOSE 2 between LBT 11 and 12 so I guess it was more logical to have BOSE placed somewhere between the 2 sequels seeing as the latter hadn't been released yet  :DD

On that note, I am working on chp 20 of BOSE and I promise PROMISE it will be up soon.  :oops

Quite simply my dear, it is the infusion and wondrous blend of flavours that come together that just make it a delight to sample... A cup of Twinings Earl Grey Tea first thing in the morning is just "DARLING!"  :D

(It's an inside joke me and Lillefot have since we were all over his place back in August :lol It was one of Lillefot's goals in life to ask a Brit if he'd like a cup of tea. It kinda got outta hand from there :DD)

Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on November 16, 2009, 05:13:07 PM
I really like Spike! Not just for his ability to gulp down every inch of green food he can find but I love the way he can communicate even without speaking. I guess I've always liked stuff that's a break from the norm and I'd say Spike crowns that category.

Chomper's another I like and he seems to really have made an impact despite only appearing in two sequels. I like him in the TV series coz of his innocent nature despite the entire world seeing him for what he is (given the living arrangements). A hidden courage I think... I like that ;)

Now, to pick only those two makes it sound like I'm not particularly fond of the others. That's untrue. I love the gang as a whole and the way they bond together. But I love their individual querks as well. If one thing has been done well in LBT, the depth of characters is a big boasting point I'd say  :D

Thanks for your Q Rat_Lady!  :smile

Caustiser: To be honest, without blowing my own trumpet here, I've always found it quite easy to visualise something mentally just from the clues from the prose. I can't remember if I've seen the artwork that's gone alongside your story so apologies for my lack of input there.  :oops Still, your story is coming along great. It's a very interesting read, if one does say one's self ;)

Malte: A bit of an odd question Malte, but I know by what context you mean  :lol Erm...no I don't have a towel with palm trees on it and I don't recall ever owning one. Thanks anyway matey!  :lol (Everyone else is probably thinking "what the mooey are they on about?"  :DD)

How do you keep yourself going when you write? I'm editing my story and I'm not really feeling too motivated.
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on January 22, 2010, 07:49:08 AM
Guess there's no really easy answer to that one since it's pure subjective. Everyone has their own ways of coping with lack of motivation. For me, I just let it be. Sounds lazy but I find that if I stress myself to try and write something for my fanfics, I end up getting more frustrated because I end up not liking what I produce. I've re-written some chapters completely because I felt it didn't fit the storyline or it just didn't seem LBT enough. What I find helps is invoking your inspiration a little bit is to find mediums relative to your fanfic and read/watch them over. I tend to watch the LBT movies and TV series over to help me keep a good scope on how the characters behave and it often gives me ideas of what to add in to my plot. I always jot my ideas down on paper as and when they come and sometimes, just reading over those ideas gives me a mental jab to want to write them up.

That's the best answer I can give you jedi sadly but the world ends with you. If you're not motivated to do it right now, that doesn't necessarily mean you're ready to give up on it entirely just yet. If you do, then that's down to you matey. Be patient with yourself and I'm sure you'll eventually get into the mood to write again!  :D  ;)

Cancerian Tiger: - Erm...interesting Q! I gotta say I prefer the US slang to the British ones. I supposed that's more due to the fact that I use the UK slang constantly that it's always more interesting to hear something new. I'll admit I don't full understand ALL US idioms but it's just as funny when an American player asks me what a British slang word means when I'm playing online and I inadvertently drop a cuss word due to playing failure.  :lol

Rat Lady: As you all know, I'm an hardcore gamer so I'm a big fan of some long running gaming series'. Games like Zelda, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy to name a very select few. :D When it comes to TV, I don't tend to watch a great deal but I'm a huge Family Guy fan. I have all seasons on DVD as well as 1 of 2 of the Star Wars spin offs. I'm also a fan of Scrubs (although I'm yet to see the latest season in full). Cartoons of the 80s and 90s I don't mind watching (movies and TV shows). I'm not much of a bookworm but I do enjoy the occasional read. Dan Brown's novels are always a good read (Da Vinci Code, Digital Fortress, Angels & Demons), James Patterson is another author I'm quite fond of. And of course, with 90% of the western world, I have read all 7 Harry Potter novels (but only seen 2 of the films :p) Ohh...and congrats on becoming an Ultimate LBT Fan!  :DD  ;)

His earlier books (1990s for the Dirk Pitt series and early 2000s for Kurt Austin/NUMA series) are MUCH better than his later books.

Even so, all of his stories are high octane thrillers. One word of advice, stay away from Polar Shift. I regard that as his worst novel.

What is your favorite breed of dog :)?
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on October 03, 2010, 06:21:16 AM
Wow! It's been nearly 8 months since I last had a question from the floor! I was about ready to start nailing bits of wood to myself and change my name to "chair"  :lol  :p

OK here goes:

@ Caustizer: I've gotta say, it's kinda hard to pick out one moment out of all the greats one you've incorporated into the your story. I can name a few like the courtship of Star and Sky (finally! That was a long time coming :p), the attack on Bron in the forest was good too. I really like the segregation of the group and how the story flicks between Cera, Chomper and Ruby as one group and Littlefoot, Sky and the rest of the gang. I also really like Guide as a character. Beneath his cold, tough man exterior lies a fragile heart that deeply scarred and troubled. Your character portrayal is always top-notch and the narrative perspective is an interesting one too! (Think I might have mentioned that already :p) My apologies for not keeping up with it lately. Had so much work to do for uni its unreal! I will continue reading it when I get the chance though! ;)

@ Campion1: I actually started at quite a young age (perhaps a little too young). I had my first console by the time I was about 5 or 6 and that was a Sega Master System. That being said I had been playing games before then (my friend had one before me and I gamed on that). My first ever game I owned was Alex Kidd in Miracle World back in the late 80s. Even to this day I've only ever completed that game once! It's a sod since pretty much every thing on the screen is out to get you, you have only one hit before copping it and extra lives are scarce. From there, my video game library expanded, mainly through birthday and xmas presents. In fact, my online gaming name is a scar I bear from being unable to complete a devilishly hard game I had way back then. Even now, with all my gaming experience, I still haven't completed it! It is my white whale so to speak :smile

@ Cancerian Tiger: Ahhh yes! I remember that question! All that time ago!  :lol *ahem* anyway! Breed of dog? I'm not really fussy to be honest. I wouldn't particularly go for a toy breed e.g. poodle, pug, chihuahua etc given the choice. I'd prefer something like a Labrador, Goldie (golden retriever) or even a huskie/wolfhound. Again, if I found a Jack Russel or a Staffie (Staffordshire Bull Terrier) with a lovely temperament, I'd go for that. Remember, it's not the breed, it's the puppy inside that really matters ;)

Thanks for the questions guys! Feel a bit more in the runnings now! Much obliged!  :D Oh! Just a quick note for anyone waiting for an update on BOSE 2! I am so sorry I've left it so long to update. Since I started uni again I've had very little free time once I get home and I'm normally so mentally drained I can't muster to fortitude to work on it. Rest assured I haven't given up on it and hopefully a new update will be available soon!

Thanks again peeps! ;) Feel free to grill me some more if your questions are burning!  :p  :DD

Firstly, thanx Rat Lady! Merry Xmas to you too (coming way too late but never mind :p) and to Caustizer, I'd say keep them running as normal unless you are genuinely that far ahead that updating a marathon load won't impede on rate of posting later down the line. How much have you been enjoying Epic Mickey thus far?
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on April 18, 2011, 06:55:54 PM
Ohh flip! Dated almost a month ago! Need to visit here more often! :oops

Epic Mickey...in all honesty I got bored of it very quickly. Biggest gripe, it's a uninteresting story hugely overpadded with rinse-and-repeat fetch quests. The game has no variance and no difficulty curve. It's just one constant retrace of paths you've already been to and things very quickly became a chore rather than a fun challenge.
Other nags:
- Combat is clumsy and buggy and there's no real engagement or thrill to it.
- Camera needs a flippin' lasso on it to keep it in sodding place or look where you want it to!
- Characters are bland and uninteresting despite their huge back story and given history (quite an impressive feat to pull off I'd say given the circumstances)
- Running back and forth through the scenes of previous cartoons is nice done once or twice but when you constantly have to back track thru them time and time again, the nostalgia wears thin very quickly and they just become boring and tedious.

The moral choice system is a nice idea but poorly implemented. Half the time you don't know what the paint and thinner actually alters and there doesn't seem to be a dramatic difference in which one you choose to rule with. So what's the point?

Overall, I can't say I've been impressed by Epic Mickey and given the hype of it all, it a bit of a downer. As much as I'll play it thru (haven't quite finished it yet), I can't see it remaining a solid member of my Wii collection sadly.

I've re-written some chapters completely because I felt it didn't fit the storyline or it just didn't seem LBT enough.
This has me wondering, can you tell us about what some of these "deleted scenes" were like and why you chose not to put them in either of your two stories?
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on April 10, 2012, 07:08:10 PM
Sure can! (Didn't realise I had a question in waiting... sorry about that! :oops)

Most of my "deleted scenes" were usually scrapped before they even made it to paper but one or two instances did in which I later removed them and rewrote sections or even whole chapters. One such instance was the magical barrier fight with the Red Phoenix and Jill in BOSE. Honestly, not one of my favourite ideas but I found that Jill was the only character (at that stage) who hadn't really had much of a connection to her power as a holder of a Stone of Essence, so I kinda condensed the use into one big outing and had her go toe-to-toe with the Red Phoenix. My initial plan was to have Jill lose the fight and have another "inner mind space" moment like Littlefoot had with his dreams in recognising each of the Stone Carriers and their special traits. It wasn't until I was writing the chapter that I realised that I hadn't done the same thing for Jason when he received his "awakening" (he mentions the dream briefly but that's about it). So I figured it would be better to have that "realising dream" sequence to be unique just to Littlefoot. And so, a scene where Jill, in her own mind, is awakened and strengthens her power as "the Summoner" was ultimately deleted.

Some deleted scenes were simply on the basis that there wasn't enough associative links to LBT for it to work. I know some readers hate to see humans interfering in the LBT universe (a criminal trend I think I am responsible for starting :oops) but I try my best to maintain a balance between human and dinosaur concepts and try to blend them without the impact being too harsh or jarring. Other instances have literally been deleted sections where I was just worried about the pacing of the story i.e. padding it out too much. There were literally small ideas that I just rejected and have since forgotten about them. The latest chapter of BOSE II (chapter 29) I rewrote at least twice because there was just too much padding and the story wasn't advancing. Truthfully, I still think that chapter is too chatty (relies on too much character dialogue to push things forward) and slowed things down a bit too much. Still, i'm working on the next chapter in which more discoveries are made and more about the fabled "Corruption's Curse" comes to light.

Thanks for the question there Chronicler! Hope that answers it! Look forward to any more questions from the GOF floor! :D ;)

What games are on your wishlist?  And what online games have you tried or enjoyed?
Title: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on April 11, 2012, 04:09:39 AM
At the moment I can't say there are that many (which makes a change  :lol ) but there are a few I am looking forward to. Here's a short rundown:

Max Payne 3
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance (will also need a 3DS)
Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil 6
Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning

As for online games, I'm guessing you are talking about the likes of Minecraft at al. Well, funnily enough I can't say I've dabbled very much in those kinda games. I'm more of a console player normally coz my PC is too low spec to run anything noteworthy.  :DD I do use Steam but most of those games aren't what you'd class as web browser games. I'm always open to suggestions (as long as they are not Facebook games like Mafia Wars or FarmVille) so any recommendations will not fall on deaf ears  :D

Thanks again guys! My door's always open for more Qs! Keep 'em coming!  ;)

Nope! Never heard of it!

Good time to get back in the fray I suppose. Any questions gang? I'd be more than willing to answer! The Inquisitive Quadruped is back! :D :DD

How's progress on your fanfiction?
(I've already mentioned a while ago that I've practically cancelled any further progress on my LBT/Bionicle story, so I'm just curious on whether or not you plan on continuing your story.)

Hey Chronicler!

Good to see ya again! Been a while! :D

I do intend to continue with BOSE 2 but at the moment, I'm having such a hard time with work that I just don't get the free time to continue writing. And the little free time I do have, I find myself wanting to do other things away from my PC...like play video games (logic much?! :oops).

I haven't given up on the story seeing as the next chapter has been half finished for months now. Funnily enough, I'm still getting notifications from ff.net telling me people are favouriting both my stories, which is heartening.

I will finish BOSE 2 and I'm really sorry to anyone who has been waiting for me to update it. But work hasn't been kind to my free time schedule. Once I can get a better work/home life balance, I will continue. Please bear with me. It's coming, I promise! It's flattering to know that some people out there still do care. :D

Can you play an instrument?
Title: Re: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on January 31, 2021, 03:06:09 PM
That I can surprisingly enough.

I can play descent and tenor recorder (one's bigger than the other but they fundamentally play the same) and I can play piano.

Can't sight-read music but I can read and decipher it (by which I mean write every note underneath; cheeky cheat I know  :taunttroll). My brother taught me to read tablature for guitar but whilst I can understand it, the only interaction I can reliably replicate is when the player goes ham-wild on stage and smashes the instrument into whatever happens to be closest.  :rhett_smile. Suppose the greatest accomplishment I can say whilst playing guitar is that I know the opening to Enter Sandman by Metallica (thanks bro  :ChomperPOG ) and the running thread of Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes... which happens to be seven notes...

Hey, I never said I was any good at it.  :spikeblush

They are a band that did music... that's about as far as I go with them.

Talented for sure and big in terms of what they did for music but not that fussed by them. :areyouserious

Do you have a favourite non-LBT animated film?
Title: Re: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on February 23, 2021, 02:07:20 PM
Not one movie but too many to count!

I'm a firm lover of all stretches of animation both hand drawn and CGI.

A few of my favourites that leap to mind (but not limited to):

- Other Don Bluth classics like: An American Tail, The Secret of NIHM, All Dogs Go to Heaven etc.
- Pixar's movies with particular attention to Finding Nemo, The Incredibles and (unpopular opinion) The Good Dinosaur
- Reems of Disney classics. Favs among them: Lilo and Stitch, Princess and the Frog, Fantasia, Robin Hood and more.
- The Nightmare Before Christmas

I could go on but I'll just end up boring people.

Great answer. Thanks for sharing. :)

Out of Don Bluth's films, aside from LBT, can you narrow down which is your favourite?

Uffff.... a tough one to be sure!

It would be a very slim toss-up between An American Tail and All Dogs Go to Heaven. Depending on the day I'm having will depend on which one comes out the victor.

Would you rather try scuba diving, or sky diving?
Title: Re: Littlefoot1616's Q&As
Post by: Littlefoot1616 on March 21, 2021, 06:14:54 AM
Ahh, going for the superlatives "this one or that one?" method eh?  :thinking

Well, technically I've already been scuba diving. Not very far as I don't have an official scuba clearance licence to go very deep but I do remember doing a bit of the training in a pool and a little whilst on holiday in Thailand years ago.

So, I suppose the idea of going skydiving would be another tick of the list as I've never done that before. I'm all for new experiences. Just hope my nerves wouldn't get the better of me. :rhett_smile

That I have. And... this is where I might start alienating a few people  :spikeblush

I was at the start of the whole Pokemon/Digimon craze when it began (yes I am that old; shush!  :ChomperBurned) and given the two... I very much preferred Pokemon. Guess it was because I played more of the games and the watched the anime moreso than I did with Digimon.

Don't get me wrong, absolutely nothing wrong with Digimon and I liked it for what it was. Just, I pitched my camp on Pokemon's side of the river and kinda never looked back.

Erm... can't really say I'm hugely hooked on any particular movie sequels.

When it comes to movies, I kinda pick and choose them as they arrive.

Would love for there to be some new LBT content out there, depsite the ridicule it will likely get for being yet another LBT movie.

And yes, I have Dink the Little Dinosaur episodes and remember some of them fondly. Kinda always looked at Dink as a Hanna Barbera, low-budget version of LBT (in a way). Fun nostalgic times  :ChomperPOG

Indeed. Love the Animaniacs and all their spin off cartoons. I always loved the gags that I clearly didn't get as a kid but make so much sense now.

One of my favourite gags is in the detective episode where they are looking for fingerprints... I shall say no more  :ChomperImAwesome

What great disearning Brit of the old school form of entertainment HASN'T seen Only Fools and Horse (me ol' mucka!  :PAli)

Can't say I watched it religiously but loved a bit of Del Boy and Rodney and all that noise.  :petrieLOL But it was one of those iconically "British" sitcoms that was just delightful in its moments.

If anything, I was more impartial to a spot of "The Young Ones" and "Bottom". Loved Rick Mayall and Ade Edmondson in those  :ChomperPOG
