"Rock-a-bye little threehorn, on the barren ground,
as the wind blows, you dream about being full-grown,
as you dream about being big and strong,
you will anticipate your mighty spear horns!"

(I know, it may sound a little corny, but I thought I'd make up that lullaby.)

The Fridge / Why do people obsess about zombies?

Even if zombies could exist, we wouldn't need
them. They don't need to exist. They shouldn't exist.
and horror often follows that.
Whether or not we 'need' something isn't really a justification on whether or not a species should or should not exist. There are a number of species around that we as humans don't really rely on, but nonetheless other species do. It's a balancing act.

The main issues of zombies existing has nothing to do with 'not needing' them; it has more to do with the fact that, well, at least with the traditional zombie, they don't heal. And becaues they don't heal, injuries will pile up and eventually they're no longer a threat. The odds are stacked against them. So a zombie apocalypse wouldn't really last that long. Just hide out in a good spot long enough and the zombies will just either fall apart eventually or get eaten by wild animals.
I see your point, but what I was trying to make a point on how some people bizarrely
seem to want zombies to exist, for reason other than a sense of thrill. Nevertheless,
you were correct with the odds stacked against zombies if a zombie apocalypse ever
happened.

The Fridge / Why do people obsess about zombies?
« on: March 21, 2017, 08:04:17 PM »
I'm glad you started this topic. For a long time I didn't get why people seemed to obsess
over the idea of zombies. At times, it seemed like some people WANTED zombies to be
real. I find that truly bizarre and hard to understand. There is no strong evidence
of zombies, let alone a "zombie apocalypse." Even if zombies could exist, we wouldn't need
them. They don't need to exist. They shouldn't exist. The "zombie" we know today came almost
entirely from the 1968 "Night of the Living Dead" movie from George Romero. The word
"zombie" had quite different connotations before that movie.
I guess the zombie idea is popular because many want a sense of thrill and excitement,
and horror often follows that.

Silver Screen / Star Wars: The Force Awakens
« on: March 21, 2017, 07:35:42 PM »
I watched Force Awakens a few days after it premiered. I gotta say- I really enjoyed it.
Sure, it borrowed quite a bit from A New Hope, but it also developed its own unique
story and introduced well-developed characters. I can tell fans were pleased with
the old characters such as Han Solo and Chewbacca coming back.
The character that intrigued me the most was Supreme Leader Snoke. I can't wait to see
more of him in the Last Jedi this year.

Top 5 favorite Star Wars:
1. A New Hope
2. The Force Awakens
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. Rogue One
5. Revenge of the Sith

Hee, hee! Great you have the same interest as I do! I love My Little Pony! To me, it is one of the best shows as well, along with Transformers Prime!
While watching episodes of the new generation of MLP, I learned something- this show
breaks the mold of the stereotype about shows intended for females, especially young girls. See, entertainment intended for women or little girls has long been thought of as "inferior" to entertainment targeted towards men or boys (such as Transformers). The attitude was, and still is to a degree, that while it is considered okay for both males and females to watch a
show or read a book meant for males or starring a male protagonist, it's considered not okay
for males to watch or read something intended for females; the idea that it is too "girly".
But Friendship is Magic proves that entertainment that is mainly geared towards females
can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of age and gender if it is done right.
Note: I started watching some episodes of FiM in 2015, so I am relatively late to the
fandom, but I'm glad I learned about it.

Welcome to the GOF, Dracorider19! Hope you have a great time here!
I see you're a brony. For a long time I was curious about the fandom of MLP: Friendship
is Magic. At first I didn't watch any episodes of FIM, but eventually I decided to
check out some episodes to understand what the fandom was about.
And, what better way to describe this show as one of the best animated shows of
the 2010s, perhaps even the 21st century! So well-written, great depth and characters,
and overall not what you'd expect in a "girl's show." While I don't consider myself
a brony, I admit the show has grown on me for a while.

The Fridge / Fun with Jedi mind tricks
« on: March 21, 2017, 10:47:02 AM »
The scene in A New Hope where Obi-Wan mind tricks the suspicious stormtroopers is
one of the best known scenes in all the Star Wars films. That scene and other uses of
the mind trick (such as the "death sticks" scene in episode 2) got me thinking; what
if you could use a mind trick to your advantage (for good purposes of course)?
Here's my example:

Bully: I have you now. Now I will...
Me: (waves hand) You don't want to bully me.
Bully: (pause) I don't want to bully you.
Me: You will leave me alone.
Bully: I will leave you alone.
Me: Goodbye. Have a good day.
Bully (walks away) Goodbye. You have a good day too.

The Fridge / About the Force Awakens
« on: March 21, 2017, 07:46:23 AM »
Well, it may be over a year since Force Awakens premiered, but I still find myself
looking up clips on YouTube from the film, quite often.
While I'm not a die hard fan of Star Wars, I do like Star Wars to a large degree and like
to research the behind- the-scenes of the original trilogy. In fact, last night I was watching
the "Empire of Dreams" Star Wars documentary. I have seen all of the films.
So anyway, when I heard about Force Awakens, I was surprised. It seemed like they wanted
to make up for the large fan disappointment in the prequels (though Revenge of the Sith
really got to my emotional intensity, and I thought the first two prequels were okay), so
why not try a new sequel series?
After I saw the trailer, I was confident that the new film would be good. I wasn't sure
how good it would be, but I remember chatting with customers at my part-time job at Kroger about the upcoming film.
I saw Force Awakens on December 21, at a theater with IMAX 3D. I was hot with anticipation and I woke up with sheer excitement. My sister drove me to the theater and I was dropped off
there. I got a medium box of popcorn and a Coca-Cola Icee.
As I settled in the theater, most of the seats were filled. Then after the trailers it came on...
I really enjoyed Force Awakens. It just felt so much like the formula of the original
trilogy and had a great story, wonderful acting, and was overall well-written. I was correct
that Force Awakens would be a success. The audience applauded at the end, and I joined in.
Well, what do you think? Did you see Force Awakens, and if so, did you enjoy it?

Character Discussion / Horned Sharptooth
« on: March 21, 2017, 07:09:30 AM »
Ah, glad they got my favorite carnivorous dinosaur finally in LBT. I mean, what makes
Carnotaurus so cool is obviously its horns, which are unique not just for carnivorous dinosaurs
but carnivorous animals in general. Carnotaurus has been gaining attention and popularity gradually over the decades since its discovery in the mid-80s, but to see it in LBT makes me pleased.

The original Sharptooth from the first LBT was nothing short of awesome and terrifying. He
seemed so determined to get to the gang in spite of obstacles and difficulties in his way.

Thank you. To me this forum is like a secret online club that offers a sort of gathering

Hello, my name is Emilio Zaayman. I live in Houston, Texas and although I just joined
this site, I knew this site since around April 2014. But after more than two years, I decided to join this site after a member here (Dalekdino) suggested I join after having a conversation with him on DeviantArt. My joining on DeviantArt also inspired me to join here.
So, personality-wise, I'm an easygoing, creative, thoughtful, and caring young man who
has a strong sense of morality (I really detest bullying), fairness, and I love to look for ways to "cure" boredom if others are bored.
Now I do not post fanart, but I will start topics of my own and comment on other members' fanart, fanfiction, and topics. I will often mention in my comments what I like about the
piece. I rediscovered Land Before Time when I was 14 when I re-watched a VHS tape at
my grandmother's house, and I am also an avid Disney fan.
Well, I am glad I discovered a forum dedicated to one of my childhood icons. I hope
I can get ideas from other members on what to do here.

The Fridge / If you could bring back a dinosaur
« on: March 20, 2017, 09:02:36 PM »

Yeah I'd bring back a plant eater as well since it won't eat you at all.
Good thought. However, whenever people mention about carnivorous dinosaurs being
brought back, they almost always mention about the possibility of someone "being eaten" by
a carnivore. Well I have a different thought in mind.
It is often assumed that predatory animals will readily prey upon humans- however contrary
to what shown in Jurassic Park (putting entertainment aside) science has shown for the most part, humans aren't really worth eating from a predator standpoint. I believe if a carnivorous dinosaur like Allosaurus or T-rex was brought back, it wouldn't have much interest in a
human. Think about it, our smaller size enables us to hide from them and even if they
do catch and try to eat a person, compared to prey dinosaurs such as Edmontosaurus, we
have little meat on us. Plus we're small- we wouldn't really make worthy prey.
Predatory animals, such as lions or even snakes, usually avoid humans. They normally
don't want anything to do with us unless defending themselves or really desperate for a meal.
And although we humans may not possess a lot of natural defense, we still have weapons and
cooperation on our side. Some predators that are intelligent enough actually learn this and to stay safe they would avoid us.
Nevertheless, not only would my first dinosaur be a herbivore, but it needs to be small
so I can study on how to raise it.

The Fridge / If you could bring back a dinosaur
« on: March 20, 2017, 06:23:24 PM »
Hello everyone. I am a new member of this site. I've decided to start my very first topic here- if you could bring back a species of dinosaur to life (yes I may be giving off a Jurassic
Park vibe here) which dinosaur would it be? Right now I'm gonna focus on one species,
and later I will ask for more. The first dinosaur I would bring back would be a
Hypsilophodon. By thinking it over, the first dinosaur should be small and a herbivore,
since that would be easier to understand and raise it.
