Title: Flathead770's Photography
Post by: Flathead770 on February 29, 2020, 07:56:21 PM
Hey everyone! I haven't seen very many topics like this on the GoF so I figured I'd give it a shot for those who might be interested. I generally prefer to shoot landscape and wildlife shots, with the occasional astrophotography when given the opportunity (for those who don't know about the pictures I've shared from my trip last year, you can find them here (https://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=16541.0)) Let me know if this is something that you guys would want to see more of!

I'm gonna start off with posting some pictures of my visit to the Ice Castle setup in a park in my city.
Funny enough, the exit was much nicer looking then the entrance, so I'll just use that one to start with.

Once inside the main entrance it opened up with a few branching paths to explore. This path had a small water fountain that led around to an ice slide (surprisingly enough I picked up quite a bit of speed on it)

I next went into some ice caves that had a really cool look with the light peeking through all the icicles.

The other standout part for me was some of the ice sculptures that were set up.

wooooow :O
How they made spomething like this in city? :O Look shuge and impressive!

(I think it would be better if you resize pictures with special tags)

Yeah it was set up in a park. Can't remember exactly but someone said it took around 8 weeks and 40 people to make. It's certainly a neat concept and was fun to walk around in!

I take it the portrait photos are the ones that are the offenders here right? I guess they show up much bigger since there's no auto formatting in the vertical direction? Once I figure out how to resize them I'll make sure to do that.

@Flathead770
[img height=100] or [img width=100] would be enough for resizing. :)
Just type fitting number for width/height

Thanks! I knew there was some sort of command to resize but couldn't remember. Does this look better now?

Yes, that couple pictures you used parameters to are perfect now. :)
The rest are the same, because you didn't put parameters to them  :chompysmile

Ok I see the issue. I was using the sunrise theme for the GoF, which automatically formats the images width wise so I never bothered modifying it. Now that I switched back to the default theme I can see how massive they are :p. Should be better now!

Beautiful ice sculptures and glaciers Flathead770. I think I want to visit Alberta in the future tbh. :)

Thanks for sharing with us! :smile

@Gentle Sharptooth
Thanks! I certainly try my best!

@ImpracticalDino
Funny enough, this is the only Ice Castle event in Canada (at least from this company), with 5 others in the US. (https://icecastles.com/ (https://icecastles.com/)). That being said, Alberta still does have some really great landscapes to check out including forests, mountains, lakes. It's also got it's own little badlands valley where a lot of Dinosaurs have been found. I got some pictures kicking around of them that I can get around to uploading

But for now I'm gonna post a few pictures of the same park, but this time around summer time. For this I brought my super telephoto lens (150-500mm. For comparison my phone is about the equivalent of ~15mm) to get some close up of the Canadian Geese that flock around the lake.

And some non-geese, because why not? :p

So I suppose now's a good time to update this thread with some more pictures. This time it will be mostly landscape shots from a camping trip last year with some friends.

Of course I always end up being the slowest when I'm hiking with my friends because I want to take pictures of everything :p Though this can be fun as it allows some of my shots to be populated. I like how the trail extends on one side of the shot with the scenery opening up on the right side.

The main event of the camping trip was hiking around Upper Kananaskis Lake
(https://i.imgur.com/rw5rJb9.jpg)

This shot required me to lay down on the ground to keep the mountains in the background with some nice flowers in front. Unfortunately the flowers didn't end up being in focus, but I like the shot regardless.

This one is kinda neat because I have the trees on each side acting as a natural frame for the mountain.

The last image was taken during one of the nights camping out. This was my first use of my new wide angle lens for astrophotography. The camera shutter was set to 30s and in that time I swept a flashlight across the foreground to light it up (a term called Light Painting).

Wow... all my life I've been dreaming of visiting places like this. They look simply gorgeous and full of wonder, not to mention a lot to explore. You would really have to visit a place like this yourself to get the full picture just how amazing the sights must be, and your photos sure made me anxious to pack up and leave right now. Only if the situation was more accommodating... :( Great pictures, Flathead. Canada sure is a beauty, and I have a feeling I don't know the half of it! :Mo

Beautiful nature...
These forests slowly turning into snowy mountains are gorgeous!

Hope I will manage to go outside at the end of this summer.

The mountainous and river valley scenery really is a sight to behold. I can't put the soothing joy I get from gazing at the vibrant colors of the landscape into words. And judging by the quality of the last picture (love night shots), I would say that the wide angle lens was rather worth it.

Post by: Flathead770 on April 18, 2020, 10:29:38 AM
Thanks guys, glad you like them! I feel you guys as well with wanting to go outside this summer.

Yeah Owls the wide angle lens certainly has been worth it (it is actually more expensive then the camera body itself haha). In fact, every picture except for the first one in this last post was taken using that lens as well as every shot in my first post. It also is considered a "fast" lens due to it's large aperture of f/2.8. Basically means that the lens can open up wider to allow more light in (or the same amount in a shorter amount of time). f/2.8 or better is generally a good number to aim for for astrophotography.

It's a side hobby. I've always been the "camera guy" with my group of friends, mostly just capturing our stupidity on a little digital camera in either picture or movie format :p

When I went on a trip to the US to see the solar eclipse in 2017 that is when I seriously started thinking about getting a proper DSLR. Took me one extra hike in the mountains with my friends to push me over the edge to buy one. It's been something I've done every now and then since summer of 2018. It also helped that by this time I was finished University and I could finally start doing things again :lol

And thanks!  :)littlefoot

Alright, all of these next ones I cropped to 16:9 because I thought that they could possibly make for a good wallpaper (and some I did end up using for a while).

First up some flowers. Both of these were taken in Southern Alberta in the Badlands.

A cactus is a flower right? :p
(https://i.imgur.com/twFe4vJ.jpg)

Alright, back to Upper Kananaskis Lake
(https://i.imgur.com/q0hyv3x.jpg)

This was from a different hike when I went with a friend to Banff to check out Johnston Canyon and the Inkpots. This was the opening at the end of the hike.

This last one is a bit different. It was near a small town in the prairies as we were driving down to Banff and I wanted to take the opportunity to finally get a good sunset photo. This was my favourite of the bunch. You will notice a bit of "ghosting" with the clouds, especially near the edges as this is actually a combination of 3 different shots at varying exposure levels.

So I mentioned a while back that I got a new prime lens as well as some macro extension tubes so I figured I should show some pictures that I've taken with them. I've never been one to just go out in the city to take pictures, mostly because I find cityscapes to be boring. I need to find some reason to get out of the house though haha.

Here we find a shopping cart in it's natural habitat, small parks in the city :p
(https://i.imgur.com/TAGUrYP.jpg)

A random goose footprint
(https://i.imgur.com/JSLDIaB.jpg)

OK here are some interesting ones now in my opinion. Since quarantine has been in effect and schools closed, all the playgrounds have been caution taped off. I noticed this on a walk one day and decided on coming back to the park at night. The result is a creepy horror look. (Also a good way to flex the prime lens a bit with its nice and large f/1.8 aperture)

The last 2 are just testing out some macrophotography with the extension tubes.
As you might have noticed, there's some pesky particles on my lens near the top right that I needed to clean off haha. I'll attach a picture to this post afterwards from my phone to give you a better idea of what I was taking a picture of with these macro shots.

Been awhile since I've last posted anything here, though that doesn't mean I haven't taken any pictures. I've stayed somewhat constant, taking pictures of birds or something while stuck in the city but have also gone out and did a couple hikes in the mountains in Banff National Park as well. Though for now I'm going to post some pictures that I took more recently when I visited another National Park that's just outside my city. I did share most of these on Discord already but figured I should maybe put them up here as well.

So the goal of this little trip was to see if I could spot comet NEOWISE, so I arrived right before sunset to also snag a few photos of that.
The second shot was taken at a slower shutter speed, which helped softened the shadows/highlights in the ripples ever so slightly. Didn't actually have much luck with the comet as the clouds rolled in after the sunset. I came back again a few days later when the weather seemed like it would cooperate a bit more, again around sunset. This time there was very little wind so I was able to get a nice symmetric shot with this neat sky/cloud pattern
(https://i.imgur.com/FoDFyd3.jpg)
By this point the mosquitos were swarming me so I had to wait in my car for it to get dark. I couldn't see the comet with my eyes so I just started taking pictures of the Big Dipper as I knew it was almost directly below it. With a few attempts I got it framed with my 50mm lens.
I didn't know until after I got home, but you can see the comet on the bottom right, which was an exciting find.

After that I wanted to use my wide angle lens to take a picture of the lake with the stars above. Also to my surprise, the comet is visible in this one as well, despite being only at 16mm focal length.
This last photo is what I would call my money shot of both trips. It has the Big Dipper, the comet, the cool colours created by my city's light pollution along with the clouds and reflection off the lake. Also did a bit of light painting so the sand in the foreground is a little more visible as well.

Thanks Iris! Aww that's a bummer. I'm honestly surprised there was a spot so close to my city the was easily accessible to view the stars and the comet. I figured the light pollution from the city would be too much.

I would be happy to anytime! :chompysmile

Whoa, I've been missing a lot of good stuff here! A lot of those Badlands photos look like they could be an IRL version of LBT! And that playground at night has some seriously spooky vibes, yikes.
Most of all, though, I've gotta thank you for sharing your pics of the night sky and that comet! They're breathtaking!! :RubyCurious What an experience that must've been!

Funny you mention that Rainbow as the badlands is a major spot for finding dinosaur fossils! It's also home to a nice dinosaur museum that I've visited a couple times now.

I assure you that the experience in person was very underwhelming. I couldn't even see it :p That's why I was so happy to find out that my camera ended up seeing it at least!

Glad you liked them though!  :rhett_smile

Post by: Flathead770 on August 17, 2020, 07:57:42 PM
I suppose it's about time I posted some pictures from my trip. For those who may not remember, at the start of August I did a camping trip with some friends in Jasper National Park, Alberta for 4 nights. Was a really nice trip and got to go on some nifty hikes. Here's a few pictures from the first two days:

First we stopped to take a look at Mount Robson, the tallest peak in the Rocky Mountains (at least for the Canadian side) at around 3,954m, though you wouldn't be able to tell with the clouds in the way  :PCera
(https://i.imgur.com/e7XqKqa.jpg)

Next we drove down to the Icefields to check out the Athabasca Glacier. I've seen it twice the last two times I've visited but it was always cloudy and I would always go in late October when there's snow everywhere anyways :p This time it was much more visible (as you will see in just a little bit). This is the view of Mount Athabasca from where the bus dropped us off to check out a glass bridge overlooking the valley (seen on the left)

I shared this picture from my phone on Discord after I walked on the bridge, but here it is again for those who are curious
(https://i.imgur.com/eQYRQIn.jpg)

Far in the background you might be able to notice a bit of an ice shelf on top of the mountain. Here's a nice close up of it with my telephoto lens (I believe I heard that the ice is about 100m or so high)

After that we went hiking up along the ridge in front of the glacier. While we didn't end up climbing the whole mountain, the trail did end right at the end of the cliff viewing the glacier.
Mount Athabasca is the snowy mountain to the left and the glacier is just to the right of it. It's actually been receding over the years and they have several markers placed at certain years. For example, back in 1890 the glacier was all the way down to near the green building at the bottom center of the picture.

Here's a closer shot of the glacier
(https://i.imgur.com/hZMDI6u.jpg)

Another glacier just to the right of the last one.

No idea what mountain this is but I like it :p
(https://i.imgur.com/GYknQiQ.jpg)

Finally ended the night with some astro shots since there were very little clouds that night.

Thanks guys! Yeah that day was very nice with almost no clouds in sight for the whole day. Very rare (in my experience) to see in the mountains. While I didn't have a very good star watching spot with a nice silhouette of a mountain or something it was still very nice to get a nice shot of so many stars.

So many stars :wub

Amazing photos, as always, Flathead. Really hoping I can go back there someday.
You're more then welcome to come visit anytime  :OhYou

Alright, I'll get a few more pictures put up now.

We were a little sore the day after the hike so we took it a little easy the following day. The weather also seemed liked it wanted us as well because it was around 30°C with no wind so even this small 1km/50m elevation hike we did was not too fun haha. It lead to a neat little lake that formed from the run-off of a glacier. There was a much longer hike we could've done but I suppose that will have to wait for another time.

The hike back had a very nice view as well.

Spent most of the day in the shade after that, but in the evening we did go check out Athabasca Falls that's nearby. It's a spot I've visited a couple times now but with the water so high it was nice to see again.

Took another picture at the end of the waterfall at the shoreline.

The following day we were heading down to Maligne Lake (pronounced Ma-leen) and on the way we checked out another series of smaller waterfalls.

Along the drive we stopped at Medicine Lake and the water happened to be very high that day. The lake itself feeds off of the water from Maligne lake but due to the limestone base the water can often drain out to underground rivers that flow into the canyon where the previous image was taken.

Once we arrived at Maligne Lake, we took a boat cruise over to Spirit Island. I took quite a few shots of this place in the 15 minutes that we hand, but for the sake of not spamming I'll only share the one.

That's it for now I think. I'll get around to posting the last little bit of them some other time.

Post by: Flathead770 on August 21, 2020, 03:16:18 PM
Thanks Owls! That was the first time I've seen the water level that high on the falls so it was nice to see!

Alright, I suppose I should finish this spam of pictures now :p

After doing the boat tour we did another hike that was pretty brutal in it's ascent. Easily over an hour  of it. Along the way we stopped and chatted with some other hikers that were coming down the trail and they spotted a doe and two fawns on the trail behind us. They dived into the woods but I did manage to get a shot, even if it is a little blurry.

Along the trail there were a decent number of flowers as well as a little break in the trees with a nice meadow.

Once we got near the top it opened up to this nice huge open view. If you wanted, you could add more time to the hike to climb up to a lookout, but we decided not to do that.

At the top we ran across another hiker enjoying the views :p
(https://i.imgur.com/M3OyEFc.jpg)
Thankfully the grizzly was far away and off the trail as well as the fact that there were five of us. Still, this marks the first time that I've gotten my bear spray ready for potential use.

While we did get the good view of Maligne Lake, we did have a pretty cool view on the way down.

When back in the parking lot and getting ready to drive back, a cow moose came out of the forest to do some grazing.

The final morning we did another hike that I've already done last time I was in the area (you can check them out on my Jasper topic) so I mainly just goofed around taking candid shots of my friends. I did end up taking this picture of these leaves because of how the water was resting in it.

And that's basically it for the trip! Was a fun time. Hopefully I'll get some pictures of something other then mountains next time for some more variety. :PCera

That waterfall picture is great! I'm guessing you used a slower shutter speed to create that effect on the flowing water?

I like that you were able to capture those two deer. Were you really close to them or is that a camera trick?

Always nice to see a bear. As long as it's far away. Far, far away.

I also appreciate the close-ups of leaves and flowers :D

Thanks! Yeah a lower shutter speed does give that effect of blurring the water. For that shot I was at around 1/4 second and couldn't really go any slower as it was about the highest brightness I could get without overexposing the sky.

For the deer I was using a telephoto lens, which allows me to zoom in closer on a subject. I mostly had that lens on since we heard that there were bear sightings in the area. Though I should say I only stopped and took the picture of the bear once we determined that it wasn't chasing after us or anything and were ready with the bear spray. Didn't want to be one of those people who would try to take a picture and get mauled haha.

Yeah the flowers were pretty abundant so I couldn't just walk by them all without taking a few pictures :p

Alright, I think I should share a couple more photos. This was earlier in the year during quarantine where I decided to try and take some pictures of birds in my backyard and surrounding neighbourhood.

This is probably the best Sparrow pic that I have
(https://i.imgur.com/gx2Lz56.jpg)

The next few are of a Blue Jay I found not too far from my house. Managed to get some lucky shots in. Was quite happy as I've wanted to get a good picture of this guy for quite a while now.

Thanks Sneak!

Been quite a while since I've been able to properly take some pictures, so it was nice that I was able to go out and get some decent ones recently over the last couple days. Got some good macro/flower shots that I'm happy with so I might as well share some.

I noticed this flower tree/bush on my walks so decided on bringing my camera one day. The individual flowers are pretty small so I was happy how this one turned out.

Here's a macro shot of one of the flowers that fell to the ground. I like the contrast between the pink flower and the grass in this one.

Not a macro shot technically but it is cropped a bit. The sun started to shine directly on the flowers, which made them look really cool.

Not sure what these are called, but they're the really small white flowers that grow on some larger trees. It's neat to see the texture on the petals.

Since I had macro on the mind, cannot resist trying to take a shot of some water droplets on leaves haha.

It snowed pretty good two days ago (yes snow, this is Alberta after all  :PLoofah ) so I drove down to the flowers again to see what sort of pictures I could get. Pretty neat seeing a combination of snow and flowers, though the bush wasn't doing too well with the snow. The snow itself was quite wet and dense, the branches on the hedges outside my house were drooping down pretty good from the weight haha.

I've been keeping somewhat busy at taking photos since I last posted some on here, mostly of the same old geese and ducks in the city as they always make for fun subjects. Though this time I've got to see the goslings grow up at the park so that's been pretty neat. also did a hike down near the Rocky Mountains again as well. Both of those have been already been fairly represented on this topic already so there's not much new to show with that, but recently I've managed to get out of the city right around a new moon with clear skies to try and get a decent photo of the Milky Way.

Looks like I've finally managed to get a decent photo of it, at least from what I can get this far North. The light pollution was a bit of an issue and blocks the bottom part of it, which is unfortunately where the better part of it is. The image itself has been stacked with about 14 pictures that I took to help reduce the noise using a free software called Sequator. The same program was also used to reduce the light pollution a little bit, which is why you can see some funny noise around the centre of the Milky Way.

For now I'm happy as this is probably the best I'm gonna get in my current location unless I travel to a better dark sky preserve like Jasper National Park or go somewhere further South.

So do I  :bestsharptooth

I can tell you it's a lot less spectacular with your own eyes, though it's still nice to be out at night seeing a lot of stars, even if it's not as many as what a camera can pick up.

Alright, time to finally post a few notable pictures from my camping trip in Jasper last summer!

First 2 pictures are some close ups. First is some sort of Chipmunk. They seem to be pretty tame towards humans in the national park and general approach you and beg like this for food. The second is some flowers that I don't know the name of at the start of one of our hikes.

This was a scenic spot at one of our first hikes of the trip. We did this one first as a warm up and because we ended up skipping it the end on our previous trip due to that day being super hot. The little lake at the bottom is due to run-off from the glacier above.

The end of a small hike along a creek that had a decent number of cool looking waterfalls. Got a pretty cool angle here, though the bright midday creates some really harsh shadows in this picture.

This is Horseshoe Lake on a small rock in the water. Hard to see here but the higher cliff sides in the middle of the picture is where some people were cliff jumping into the water.

This is from another big hike at the summit of the mountain. Pretty cool views, but the large wind gusts were pretty scary, even though there was plenty of room to walk around I still felt like I might get blown off the mountain  :bestsharptooth
(https://i.imgur.com/E3CFJ2T.jpg)

This is a pretty cool shot of a Lake just before our last major hike of the trip. The wildfire smoke over the trip had been off and on in severity and this morning was particularly thick, which gave me the chance to try for a simplistic landscape shot devoid of any detail with different shades of the mountains as they progress in the background.

As great as the last picture was, it comes at a cost of having absolutely no view at the top of the hike. I was looking forward to this hike specifically as it apparently has a wonderful view of the mountains and that lake shown above. Instead we get a bunch of white  :PLoofah
(https://i.imgur.com/f0hC19P.jpg)

Really fun trip overall, and might be the last time I get a nice long week off in the summer for something like this until I'm done school. Hope you guys enjoy!

OK, I actually really like the 2nd last picture even though I understand why you'd be disappointed with the view. The fact that you basically only see whites and blues is beautiful, to me anyway. Great pics overall :)

Wow, these are amazing! Loving the landscapes, especially the waterfall and the lakes - makes me want to try hiking to experience those places myself (if only it wasn't so much hard work...  :P)

Can't wait to see your next shots when you get the time to go exploring!

HOLY- i didn't know you were a photographer! I've seen every one of these, how have I not seen them until now?!

You have such a perfect eye for capturing beautiful shots!
I personally love the dark park one and the other with the blue jay. I also really love the sunsets and just aaah! Everything is so cool and pretty!!

You are a dedicated person, wanting to wake up early to get the perfect angles and lightings. I wish to learn from you!

Thanks Bushwacked! Yeah hiking is a lot of fun and the work is definitely worth it! Just need to make sure you have enough water and maybe something to snack on and make sure to take as many breaks as you need. Trust me it's not like I'm in good shape or anything haha. Hopefully I'll get a chance soon to get out and take some decent pictures again! For now I'm stuck in school again  :PLoofah

Oh wow thanks! Don't worry, I can be plenty lazy and skip going out because it's too early or whatever  :bestsharptooth
But yeah if you have any questions I can try and answer them as best I can! Feel free to ask them here or in my Ask Me topic.

also what camera do you use?
I started with a Nikon D3400, an introductory DSLR for a lot of these earlier pictures I've posted here. I also bought a used Nikon D810 that's a full frame DSLR. I suppose I have a decent amount of money invested in this hobby, but either a cheap intro camera of around $500 or even your phone can take pretty good pictures still! Sometimes you just need to know a bit about composition and changing some settings. For example, I took this with my phone since I didn't have my camera with me at the time and just had to lower the exposure a bit to get the colours to show a bit better.

Oh man those are some gorgeous views. That earlier one of the milky way is just amazing.  The second-to-last photo in the most recent post is really nice too, it looks kinda mystical.

I also should get into hiking because I like to take photos of views like this, but I'm lazy. :p Great stuff!

Yes get into hiking as well! Then you can also share what you see! (which I see you're starting to do now  :PLoofah)
Yeah that black/blue/white landscape does look pretty cool! I should state that I also did a decent amount of editing to make it look like that though haha.

Alright, I'm finally getting around to posting some of the photos I took during my camping trip near Banff, Alberta in mid June. I've started to enjoy taking a lot more portrait oriented photos for landscapes, especially when mountains are involved, to better get some foreground in the image. Also starting to enjoy using 50mm focal length instead of always opting for the wide angle approach.

Starting a couple pictures from our campsite. This campsite was probably the best I've been at in terms of views. Would go there again haha
(https://i.imgur.com/EI7yERS.jpg)

Next we went to Lake Louise to do a hike. With the weather being kinda rainy in the forecast for the time we were there, the clouds were doing some interesting stuff, and fog was always around in the morning to make for some interesting views.

Couldn't finish the rest of our hike as the top part was covered in too much snow still, but the lake at this point was still neat.

Also, this view along the trail was pretty darn cool
(https://i.imgur.com/UFpXOcl.jpg)

Next day we went to Emerald Lake on the BC side of the border. This was actually taken at the end of the hike as no one was around on the return except for this lone kayaker on the lake.

This is probably one of my favourite landscape shots taken at 50mm now. It was cool how the creek lined up with the mountain in the background
(https://i.imgur.com/F1o3oRi.jpg)

The final day before heading out, we visited Peyto Lake as it is just a short 10 minute drive from our campsite. I was up on the boardwalk and saw people taking pictures down below and thought it would add to the photo.

Not as many were taken this trip as we only went camping for a couple nights instead of almost an entire week.

I'm aware that you've been to Peyto Lake and Lake Louise before. Anything else stand out to you in these photos? 4th image is Lake Agnes, which is a little bit of a hike up from Lake Louise. Glad you liked them though!

Also been to Emerald Lake (I believe this is a pic I took back then (https://i.imgur.com/3hUomdT.jpg)) and here's my (very differently colored) shot of Peyto Lake (https://i.imgur.com/UJLLypj.jpg)  (I believe I shared both of these in my photography topic too)

Don't recall if I've been to Lake Agnes. The 2nd picture reminded me a bit of the "ink pots" we saw on one trail, but it seems to be a different location.

Ah ok, so that was the area in BC that you visited before. I'm sure the different coloured Peyto lake in part comes from the older camera and the bright looking day overexposing things.

Yeah those are along the Johnston Canyon trail. They're pretty cool and I can see where the similarities are. Alas, this is a different spot, and a proper camping area

No, actually. It was exactly that color blue, I remember being amazed by it because it was so vivid. I'm actually surprised how dark yours look, haha. Perhaps the consistency of the lake has changed over time and the color has changed.

Yeah maybe, though I wonder if it wasn't so teal because there wasn't as much glacier runoff yet? Like if it happens later in the summer when things warm up more in the mountains? Could've been something that has happened over time though.

This is simply breath-taking!  My sister, who lives in Canada, mentioned that she wanted to visit Banff, but I had no idea what it looked like until now.  I especially love the shot with the cloud splashing against the mountain ... or the wind sweeping clouds of snow off of it.  Which is it?  I'm not sure.  I also love the one where it appears you are looking down on low clouds or mist from a mountain path.  My island, Barbados, has some pretty beautiful views, but this is a whole different brand of beautiful!

Thanks Mr. E! Yeah not sure if it's clouds or snow, but it looks cool nonetheless. Yeah the low fog on that hike early in the morning was very cool to see. Glad you liked them!

[EDIT] Forgot to respond to your comment Jewel, whoops! Yeah the Rocky Mountains are pretty cool. I highly recommend checking them out if you have the chance. Glacier National Park in Montana is also pretty beautiful if you ever have the chance to check it out.
